User ImageName: Kaela Hart
Gender: Female
Birthdate: AL 94
Age: Fourteen
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 71 lbs

Patrol: None (Academy)
Rank: Recruit

Appearance: Many people describe Kaela as "faerielike" or "elven." Not only is she very slender, almost dainty, she is significantly small for her age and shows no sign of growing any taller.

Her long blue hair, falling nearly down to her waist, curls naturally into loose ringlets which she has a tendency of twisting around a finger when she is agitated or nervous. She almost never ties it back, finding it a useful barrier between her and the world. Her large blue eyes are dark and frightened, seldom clear with a complete focus on here and now.

She is not particularly shapely, still not having grown completely out of her girl's body, but some seem to find her childlike features, both physical and emotional, charming and attractive.

History: Kaela was raised in a relatively well-off family with one brother five years her senior. The two were polar opposites -- he dark and brooding, she bright and slightly spoiled -- but she loved Aston like no one else. As a child she would do anything asked, just for his attention.

He took advantage of her innocent devotion, using his little sister as a mere toy for his sick pleasures. All the while he fed her lies of how she was his special friend, how he would always take care of her and protect her. Knowing no better she played blindly along with his "games."

As she grew older she became increasingly attractive. Despite the age gap her brother found he could use Kaela to make his girlfriends jealous, to get more out of them. After all, no one paid enough attention to her age group to realize the two were related. She was only eleven.

Soon he even preferred Kaela to other girls, even possessively. When she began to realize just how wrong their relationship was and tried to resist him, he became angry and even abusive. She grew frightened of him, terrified by the brother she'd once idolized, but all her life she'd really known no other. No other to cry out to for help.

Somewhere during this time she began to claim that she saw faeries, and that they came to play with her when she was sad. Her parents took it all as lies to get attention, while Aston assumed it was some sort of way to quietly defy him and tormented her for it. Any attempt to defend herself led to further abuse, until she became very silent and her parents thought her to have somehow gone mute.

She grew distant and unfocused, keeping to herself as much as possible and quietly doing whatever she was told; she had lost all will to resist any longer in the face of such hurt. She lost herself in her own fantasies, retreating into herself whenever Aston hurt her. He saw her gradually escaping his control, and increased his abuse to make her submit.

When she was barely thirteen she found herself pregnant with her brother's child. Aston wanted her to abort the baby so no one would know who the father was, but for the first time in her life she outright defied him.

Her parents, staunch traditionalists, were furious and disappointed with Kaela and plagued her with questions, verbal abuse, and guilt trips. She refused to tell them anything of who had sired the child for fear of what Aston would do to her, or worse her baby. Yet her illegitimate pregnancy had lasting effects -- she had no peace from her relatives, who felt they ought to punish the "wayward child," or from Aston whose abusive ways grew no better as time wore on.

Three months later she nearly ran away, but stayed in order to care for her child. Her life had lost all purpose but a nearly obsessive need to care for the infant. Quietly, meekly, she took her family's abuse for a year before she could take no more. It tore her apart to leave her son in a foster home, and she could not have borne the separation had she not been aware that, a child herself, she could not have cared for him properly herself.

She intends to excel and bond with a wolf quickly in hopes that she can someday take her child with her to live among the Wolfriders. Perhaps then she will be able to escape the horrors of the past...

Personality: Kaela is very quiet, tending in general to speak only when spoken to -- a habit imposed by her family's traditionalist nature and their unwillingness to listen to her side of any story. She has a hard time carrying on a conversation and will occasionally trail off in midsentence, out of an insecurity about her own significance. She seldom talks back and seems to have no backbone at all, which is more or less true. Arguments make her uncomfortable, so she avoids them if possible, yet oddly she is not nearly as perturbed by outright fights, perhaps because of Aston's abuse... She is particularly responsive to facial expressions, becoming extremely agitated and skittish in the vicinity of an angry individual.

Before authority she is exceedingly, almost pathetically respectful, not in an overdoing of sirs and ma'ams, but rather in her demeanor, meekness, and body language. Among her own gender she is finally beginning to emerge from her shell, managing to converse quietly but almost like a normal girl. Yet in the most remote presence of a male she becomes embarrassed, shy, flustered, and timid.

More than anything she misses her baby, Jakob. She is afraid that he will grow up without a mother to love him, or that he will grow to hate her for leaving him before she can take him back into her care... This insecurity leaves her emotions in a constantly torn state, to the point that she sometimes has seemingly unreasonable, unprovoked bouts of depression that baffle all but those who know her best. She is reticent, slow to trust, and skittish as a deer, but her nature is to devote herself entirely to those she loves. She just hasn't found them yet.
