Oceanic 815 is torn into three pieces and crashes on an uncharted island in the middle of the pacific ocean when they are on route from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, California. The 47 survivors learn about strength and friendship to overcome all. They also learn that island has many mysteries including a strange smoke monster, polar bears, and a group of inhabitants known as “The Others”. It also appears that the survivors have secrets of their own, including connections to each other that they don't know about. As danger looms around every corner, they have to learn to trust friends and enemies alike if they are going to survive.
The survivors on the island include: Jack Shepard, a spinal surgeon; Kate Austin, a fugitive on the run; James Ford aka Sawyer, a con artist; John Locke, a once paralyzed hunter; Charlie Pace, a drug addict, Claire Littleton, an 8 month pregnant woman; Hugo Reyes aka Hurley, a cursed lottery winner; Sayid Jarah, an ex communications officer for the Republican Guard; Jin Kwon, a Korean man caring only about taking care of his wife; Sun Kwon, Jin's wife who can speak English. As the show goes on, new characters come forth as old ones depart. There are even some main “Others”; Benjamin Linus, the leader of the others, and Juliet Burke a fertility specialist.
It seems that some romance blooms between a few of the survivors including Sayid and Shannon, Claire and Charlie, Jake and Kate, Jack and Juliet; and Kate and Sawyer. The most popular pairings that I have noticed being written about are Jack/Kate, Sawyer/Kate, and Charlie/Claire. I have seen many romance stories, but I have also seen stories about what happens to certain characters when they get off the island and stories adding on or telling a different version of a scene or episode. There are even some stories telling of original characters joining the survivors on the island.
It seems like no matter how the episode or season ends, it will always end with several questions to be answered. The mysteries and suspense that the show brings is intriguing and always leaves you wanting more. As new characters come into the show and the survivors get closer to being rescued, more obstacles come their way. There are so many twists and new stories that keep us fans interested enough to come back every week.
