The sun had set a couple hours ago and let the moon take over the sky. The globe glowed a whitish yellow over the sands. It was winter, and it definitely felt like it, but she was here anyway. At the beach, watching the waves roll in and out, in and out. It was relaxing and the sound sometimes put her into a peaceful sleep. But tonight it was the beauty of the sea she wanted to take in, not only the look but the feel of the salty breeze against her face and mane, sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the sand being crushed under her hooves.

Melanie took her first deep breath since she arrived here and closed her eyes. It was so peaceful at this time. No screaching birds, no boucing fouls. Just her and the waves.

How long had it been since he'd set out on his own? Since he'd found a citadel in the safety of a lover and a family that was no longer around. Since he'd set off from them, vowing never again to fall so deeply in love with a mare so different from himself. The raven feathers adorning Carmine's wings had been a beautiful curse for this stallion. He should've known that he'd never truly have her heart, just as he'd never truly be anything more than a simple Grounded stallion.

It was hard for him, at least at first. He'd found solace in his only unwinged daughter, Lani, and the awkward herd of strangelings that made up a teepee, including the stoic huntress Angeni who staked out to protect the innocent, as she said.

But he'd left them now, to find a new life. He needed a new life. He missed the fun he could have with another, unrelated Soquili. Perhaps that was why he was wandering the beach in the middle of the night, pleased with the moon and the sound of the waves lapping at the sand and the softness of the earth beneath his hooves. But that didn't stop him from noticing the petite cream and silver pelted mare standing against the wind. With the uncertain but not unfamiliar churn in his chest, he stepped forwards, hoping he didn't blend into the scenery too much. And hoping that perhaps she wouldn't mind his company.

"The ocean is the keeper of dreams and wishes, wouldn't you say?"

Melanie's mind was swimming with thoughts about the past and her present situation. For the past couple of days she had ben thinking about the fouls she had left behind without a second thought. Until now. How we're they doing? Did they even remember who she was? Some of the most frequent questions that seemed to haunt her night and day dreams. She knew why she left, and knew things wouldn't be different even if it happened again. Not yet, not the way she felt about being held down by another. And wasn't that what children did? Want and constantly need?

But this lonliness just seemed to be getting worse with all this wondering.

Her ears perked up and her head snapped to the sound that was coming from beside her. A purple coated stallion stood there who seemed to be as much in his own thoughts as she was here own. Which was why she hadn't noticed his presence until he made it known to her. "I'd say it's more the keeper of secrets. But yours sounds better I suppose." She turned to face him more fully, her pearlescent coat shinning more brightly as she moved in the moonlight. "Sorry, I didn't see you there. Though I have to say that tonight is a perfect night to take a stroll."

The ocean, a keeper of secrets? Well that was surely possible. It was a keeper of all things, good and bad and lonesome and happy. It was a beautiful entity, soft foam lingering at the top as waves lapped gently at the sand. "The keeper of secrets seems fitting indeed."

Tavarii's gaze followed her as she moved, a smile rising on his lips as he took in her beauty, from the silver bangs framing her face to the freckles across her nose. "No worries," he chuckled softly. "I'd love to take a stroll with you, if you'd have my company. My name is Tavarii."

"I'm Melanie. And of course it's alright. I asked, didn't I? Kinda of.." she chuckledand shook her head slightly. The wind blowing in from the ocean swept the salty air in her face and lifted her hair to the breeze. She took a couple steps in his direction, froze for a moment to make eye contact for the shortest moment before continuing her casual stride. His eyes are purple too.

When she came closer it became easier for her to see more of his features. His mane was dark as night and his back looked like stars twinkling against a purple sky. The night sky. She tilted her head to look at the sky, a smile curving her lips as she thought about it. "You know, Your back.. it's gorgeous."

Melanie... Even her name was beautiful. Dangit, why was he so taken with such pretty girls? It only lead to trouble in the end...

As she met his gaze, he stared into eyes the color of the summer sky, just for that brief moment, and it made him smile. It felt like it stretched from ear to ear, too! He stood his ground as she moved towards him; why should he worry? It's not like she was going to eat him!

He shifted his weight and lifted a hoof, the golden bangles around his leg jingling. "My back is gorgeous? No one's ever said that before. I consider myself rather plain," he chuckled, then sobered, stretching his neck out to lip the bandanna around her neck. "I like this. Perhaps the two-legs gave you it?" He himself didn't like them, the two-legs of course. They scared him, to put it simply.

She took her gaze from the sky and once more glanced at the stallions silloette. "It's hard to believe no one's mentioned it before. It reminds me alot of the stars." she said softly, a smile curving her mouth.

It was easier like this. Taking in the sights and sounds of the beach at night. The waves rushing and crashing into shore, the sound of sand crunching underneath ones hooves. Peaceful. For once in her life, things just seemed peaceful. Whether it was because of the company, or just her surroundings, she was greatful for it all.

The slight tug on her neck made her glance down at the fabric she always wore around her neck. "I honestly don't know... I've had it for as long as I can remember." She always guessed that it was from from her earlier years but her memory couldnt gather up where. It irritated her sometimes that while her friends could recall things from foulhood, she could not.

He stood there, a goofy grin on his face. So she thought his color was beautiful. That was nice... Not even Angel had complimented him like -that- and they had been in, well... Love. Or at least it had felt like Love to him.

He stared past her, watching the sea ripple back and forth on the shore. As she spoke again, his ears swiveled to face her and he smiled again. "Well I'm sure whoever put it there, it fits ya. Looks like something my Lani would wear..." And he closed his eyes, imagining it looped around his estranged daughter's neck. Then he shook his head with a small laugh.
