- - cakes and wine - -
The cakes and wine (or sometimes referred to as the simple feast) is a great way to end a ritual, sabbat or esbat. It is relaxing, and in itself is a mini celebration of the Lord and Lady.
---
Raise your wand, hands or athame to the sky, and relax.
Hail, Lord and Lady.
May I ever be aware of your divine presence.
I offer my thanks in for of this simple feast: sustenance.
Dip your wand, athame or tip of your finger into the liquid you have chosen for the feast: it could be wine, apple juice, coke, water - the list is endless.
Mother Goddess
Visualise the Goddess, and communicate however you wish your thanks.
Touch your wand, tip of your finger or athame to the food. Again, the list is endless. It is traditionally cakes (or cookies) but depending on the ritual beforehand, it could reflect that. For instance, if it was an Imbolc ritual it could be curry.
Father God
Again, visualise; but this time the God.
Raise both foods - or if they're too heavy or there's too much, use your hands - to the sky. If you wish, you can bow to the Lord, and curtsey to the Lady.
In your names I bless these cakes and wine.
Visualise. Imagine the simple feast resonating with white light - or however you imagine 'good'.
Place some liquid and some food in your liberation dish, on the ground or on a place on your altar. If you wish, state that it is to the Gods.
Let there be enough for all, and let those who have plenty share with those who have little. So mote it be.
Then, proceed to relax and eat.
---
I try to keep my cakes and wine fairly simple, but still have some dignity and formality in there.
