Night had come to the land once more as the pearl white moon, glowing like a ghost, haunted the midnight sky. The cycle of night vs. day would fulfill once more. It was a time for little ones to close their heavy eyes and loose themselves to sweet dreams.

Yet one little foal remained awake amidst the dazzling stars and hooting owls. What a feat she had conquered to reach this point. After all, she had feigned sleep long enough for Juan to feel assured that it was perfectly safe for him to give way to slumber. It had been a tough battle against the Sleep Fairy, but she had done it.

As the little filly crossed over the worn land, her hooves beating lightly against the ground, she simply couldn’t believe what she had just done. She had disobeyed! Something never in her wildest dreams she ever thought she’d do, especially not to Juan. The young one knew she never had possessed this side of her before. Normally she was quiet, timid, and easy to scare but now that night had fallen something new had taken her soul.

But how did the fierce desire to see this other world begin? Well, it bloomed just after Juan had shown her the life that awoke in the night in this land so unlike her own. Thus, demi-devil known as curiosity had played with her heart and won. She was a foal after all, and their hearts have always been the easiest to manipulate.

It didn’t take long for the filly to gather up the little courage she had set it aside in hopes of discovering something out in this new world. If Juan did this all the time; galloping across the plains and slaying the beasts that got in his way; for once in her life she could try and do the same.

Without knowing how to control the ruffles of feathers that sat upon her back the little filly dashed across the land using the tools she knew the best: her very own legs. Juan used his legs to travel, so why fly when she could be like him?

Now the question shifted to what could be lurking in the shadows that came with the night? As the little one eased her running legs to a still stand, she certainly hoped that perhaps she’d find a flower similar to the ones that adorned her mane and tail. Perhaps then she’d hold a key to the past she had forgotten. But in her hopes of finding this so-called key, the foolish child forgot all about what else-no-who else could be lurking not too far away. The night hid not only treasures, lost memories, and adventure. The inky darkness also hid villains and monsters whose very blood drove them to seek out innocent souls to bring harm and chaos to. So whether these unknown creatures were friend or foe would be decided by the cruelest thing of all, fate.
