It had been a long day, if not a long lifetime, that Mastema sat in silence along the peaceful borders. His form had grown lean, be it from most of the walking he did or simply his lack of hunger. Muscles were replaced wit speed, giving him the advantage in case he needed to speak with the royals on issues that could arise. Yet, since the death of his grandfather and passing of his grandmother, there seemed to be little issues for him to deal with. He almost wanted to leave these lands.
His family was gone, his parents disappeared and his siblings off on their own. He had flashes of them in his dreams, of his sister's actions and the faces of the twins, and even the form of his father in a new life. It was strange, and it made Mastema restless. Debates of leaving filled his mind, so much that he took extra time away from the lands to think. Even now, he was away thinking in the grasses, his shift over, yet his mind still heavy.

Wandering back the way they'd already traveled, Huan Ju sought... Who knew what. She'd given the excuse of looking for something she'd forgotten, but now it was a matter of finding it... Because she'd forgotten what it was she was looking FOR. It was no matter, though. To walk without the company of six other lions was a bit of a breather for her.
The sun at her side, she went into unknown areas. The Pridelands they'd skirted around, though they intrigued her. Mut said she came from these lands, where lions were plenteful, as was game. Apparently colors were, too... But she didn't particularly care what color lion she met, she wanted to see other Pridelanders.

Mastema was sitting high atop a rock, his eyes wandering while he pushed away his dreams. Always, the image of lands filled with rocks and desert, and strange creatures unlike any he had ever seen, continued to face his eyes when he questioned his future. It was hard, but he realized finally that these dreams were in fact visions to guide him, though how far he did not know.
Suddenly, he heard the grasses move, and a scent of another filled his nose. Turning, he let out a sigh, assuming it was another who wished to join the pride. In fact, when he caught the flash of white in the distance, he showed no need for prepreation and he slowly jumped down and headed her way.

Perking at the sight of another lion, Huan almost immediately went to see who it was. There were so many lions she'd never seen before! When she reached the other lion, she circled him, ears up. "Hi! Who're you?" The air she gave off was cubbish, filled with delight at seeing a new face. "I'm Huan Ju!"

The male was tired, and it showed in his eyes as he moved closer to the female. But as she caught sight of him, and perked up, he felt himself perking as well. It was refreshing, the female's joy and happiness upon seeing another. Maybe the watch would actually be interesting today.
"Hey, I'm Mastema...a watch here at the Pridelands...it's nice to meet you Huan Ju..." He grinned, showing his white teeth as his green eyes shined a bit. Yes, as soon as she talked he felt her excitement, and now he realized his tail was wagging.
"Uh...Welcome to the Pridelands!"

Bouncing from one paw to the other, Huan smiled happily. "It's nice to meet ya, Mister Mastema!" It didn't matter who it was, or how close to her age they were, she referred to everybody as Miss or Mister, and then their name. Looking around, she took in the land surrounding them. "This is the Pridelands? Oh, cool! Miss Mut told me about them, said she came from them, but now she's headin' north with us to the En Gedi. I hear it's really nice up there!"

He almost fell over at the mister comment, and tried to correct her, but she was off to another statement. Instead, he just smiled softly and nodded, waiting until she was done to ask his questions.
"The En Gedi...is that some sort of landmark or something...I actually haven't heard of it..."

Sitting down, the young lion smiled happily. "The En Gedi is a pride! They live far to the north, by the Dead Sea!" She didn't know what the Dead Sea was, but it had her interest. That and Momma was going that way, and Mister Kingu. "Mister Kingu says it's not all that crowded right now... Miss Mut says it's the kind of breather she'd like to have away from the crowded lands down here."

Mastema had to agree with the creature named Mut, sometimes it was hard to be around all of the lions. But than again, he had the freedom of the borders, where not many from the pride went off to, so that did help. Maybe that is why he dreamed of so many far off places, maybe it was this pride he dreamed of.
He shook his head, it couldn't be that easy...could it?
"Well...that sounds interesting...but why are you going?

Pausing, she thought a moment, ears folding back. Why WAS she going? After a moment, she shrugged. "Why wouldn't I go? Momma's going, and my sister's going..." Her face lit up as she bounced around the male. "Will you go, too? You can come with us! We got lots of other lions going!" They were nearly a pride in and of themselves.

He backed up a moment, his own ears falling as she pouted to try and get him to go. Suddenly, he tried to think of an excuse, but all of them flew right out of his head.
"I...uh..." He than shook his head, took a deep breath, and looked to the side, "I can't...I have duties here I must fufill...they...need me..."
Even he felt how false and forced that statement was. It was pitiful.

Ears falling, Huan nodded. "Okay." She looked at the Pridelands, towards Pride rock. Looking back at Mastema, she offered a smile. "Well, if you ever want to go, it's north. Mister Kingu says to follow the river feeding off the big lake, and when you reach the end, go east." Leaning up, she licked his cheek before running off, opting to leave it to him to decide for himself. If he wanted to go... He knew the way.
