 The North was going to visit the witch he was going to tbe working with. He wasnt sure if she would want him to work this evening but he was prepared to. He wasnt even sure if he needed to bring anything along, he really thought he should have asked more questions in his letter but it was a bit later for that now. He just brought ink and paper, in case he couldnt remember anything or needed to write any notes. He had a arrived at what he thought was the right nest, it DID stand out a mile, it was completely caked in little lights. He was a little worried about what she would be like, after all she WAS a witch. He knocked his feet against the floor tapping his nails. 'Miss Rocks?'he called out again 'Miss Rocks? are you there it's The North I wrote to you about an apprenticeship?'

 Her nest was rather secluded away from the rest of the roost, only the little lights keeping the area bright. She had been asleep in her nest when she heard the call, trying to dream her way to the doctor apprentice. She snapped awake and put her head over the edge of the nest. She was hit by red and blue light, making her hard to see. "Oh! Hello Mr. North!" she said, fluttering from her nest. Why, she was younger then he was! She was also rather ugly, dirty grey on one side and soft grey on the other, the two colliding in a fault right down her body. She extended her wing and shook his. " I'm really excited about this!" she straightened her blue shawl and beamed at him.

North was a bit taken aback, this was not the variety of witch he was used to and he couldnt really keep the shock from his face. He was older than her ....and he was going to be an apprentice to her. He shook her wing and nodded happily.
'You must be On the Rocks, it Is ok if I call you miss Rocks? Or would you prefer the whole shabang? ....
Crikey! I cant help but notice, you're quite young'
He heard what he said, and tried to correct himself
'I dont mean that I doubt your skill, nothing like that at all. I dont mean that it's, just well.... when you hear the word 'witch' you kind of think...'
he tapped his feathers together as he tried to put it delicately and then threw it out the window
'.......cranky, reclusive, old crone'
he quickly whispered and looked to the floor
'Ahhhh, dear me I'd dreadful for the first impressions I really am and I aplogise now if I come across as bieng rude you'll have to stop and tell me. I just tend to get carried away a bit.'
' Yep Im The North, most seem to drop the 'The' and just call me North, except when its chicks .....and then I get called any number of colourful words.'

She giggled. "I started being interested in witchcraft when i was just a little baby fuzz ball." she put her wing back to her side after shaking it. "You can call me Rocks, OTR, whatever you choose." she laughed. "Most call me OTR...sounds a bit like Odiar."
She looked to the left, to where nocturnal's shadowy corner was. "naw. if you want cranky, reclusive old crone you can go visit my mentor, Nocturnal. She's older then anyone here, even Happy Hour!"
She laughed again. "Just take a deep breath. You don't have to try so hard. You can be yourself around me, Mr. North."

'Hah! Well thats a relief!'
North laughed
'I had been winding myself up a little about this and to be honest, I was a little nervous, but it looks like it should be good fun....In a serious working kind of way, anyway.'
North shuftied back and forth
Right then, Ive got a whole universe of questions I want to ask, should we go somewhere for a chat?
Inside perhaps? or pop out for a while?

On the rocks smiled. "Let's get ourselves a nice cup of honeydew and have a chat in my nest." she pointed with her wing to the nest on the box of fairy lights, twinkling. "just wind you don't knock any feathers around." She landed in her nest gracefully. The edges were lined with dozens of feathers.

North peered into the box after Rocks, who happily weaved her way in between the clutter without a second thought. He had a little more difficulty, as he tried to breathe in as much of his mass and quickly n** past all the the little feathers.
'What are all these feathers for?
I dont suppose this what you meant when you said you sleep with other peoples things?'

She nodded. "I just sorted them." she said with a chuckle. "I tuck them into my feathers and then I can dream them." she got her acorn cups and a piece of honeycomb. Using the dripping icicles out her window, she collected water and handed him the cold drink. She sipped her's thoughtfully. "I must say, this is going to be new to me. I know how to teach, as I've been teaching my friend Waffle House how to speak pidge..." She took another sip. "And while I do master the art of dreamseeing, I am also skilled at herbs and potions. Nocturnal was a good mentor."

'Oh Brilliant stuff thats just what I wanted to be learning about, the herbal medcines and salved side of things. Of course Im open to all remedies really.'
North threw up his wings excitedly as he talked, then realised where he was and quickly tucked them away again.
'Not that Im not interested in the dream seeing gift of yours,'
He stopped paused and thought.
'Is it a skill or more of a gift?
I mean do you have to be born with certain quilities to become a dream seer?'

She smiled. "I can teach you all the good rememdies...but dream seeing is a gift. And a rare one." she said. "It can be clear as day or foggy as the night...and it just sort of came to me one day."

North was getting very distracted, this wasnt what needed to ask but he could help but be completely facinated by all these new things. It was all so different and new. He had never been to see a Witch at all before, well apart from when he was a fledgling, and it was to stop him from pulling out his own tailfeathers. So that doesnt count...sort of.
'What do folk usually come to see you for with dreamseeing?'

She suddenly went quiet and gulped. "Zorba.." she said. "my old nanny. We had...a fight." she said. "i check up on him every night...he's starting to lose it."

North suddenly felt he'd pryed a little too much, and mentally firmly shut his beak, better ask what he needed to.
'Oh dear, oh damn, I'm very sorry to hear that'
he looked down and paused for a moment, and then asked to break the awkward silence.
'So urm, back on track, How often do you want me here to help out? I'm pretty much free every day at the moment I'm on scavenging right now inbetween breeding season. So as long as I do two good full day's of intense foraging, I should be okay. I can just fit that around assisting here.'
