Jua'Mwiba had found that boredom was setting in more than ever. The more he watched the adults wandering around, doing things... exciting things for that matter!... the more he got bored of doing 'cubby' things. Except for moments he took to bully or playfight with his siblings, there was absolutly nothing to do! He wanted to fight! Be like his dad... okay, well, not entirely like his dad... but he wanted to at least be prowling the borders! If everyone was worried about him 'getting hurt' or... whatever it was that kept him out of the game, then at least he could run around as a look-out to keep his eye out for traditionalists.

But no. No, he had to stay, and be bored to death by the mumbling and bumbling of every day life. And what good was that? He wanted to be a firekin, loud and proud! He cursed the fact that he had been born after the war, and not before it, so that he could have caught a peice of the action! Really sunk his claws into things.

There had to be more adventure. There had to be more to do! It wasn't enough to be out and about anymore, there had to be at least a little adventure out there... right? RIGHT!?

"Arrrrrrg...bleh." He mumbled to himself, kicking around sand, "This can't be all there is..." Maybe he should listen to the adults, find out who was going to be training the new soldiers. Then there'd be something, he was sure...

Miali didn't really mind being born after the war. She didn't feel a pull toward action. She didn't feel a need to have that rush of a fight, the glory and honor of a win. She never actually gave much thought to it, for that matter. She went around the dunes with practiced steps and played with her siblings and ate what her mom told her to and that was that. She talked to whoever she could, soaked up current events like a sponge, and simply LOVED to tell others about the random things she'd heard about life, the pride and the members. And she was completely content with staying that way. Sure, she knew that some day soon she'd get a bit more intensive and learn the ropes of a path. In her mind, she had already pretty much decided she wanted to be a huntress. Other than that, though, she thought her life was fine the way it was right then.

So, when she heard a rather unhappy voice muttering away about how there had to be more, she chouldn't help but have her interests perked. After all, it was something that never really popped up in her head. She didn't care if there was more, 'cause she was happy with what there was now! She reached the top of a small dune and slid down a few steps, a bit wobbly, but with more grace than she had had earlier on in her life. She'd been practicing... quite a bit. "Kicking the sand won't help you walk on it any better." She stared at him for a moment, trying to figure out just who exactly he was. Surely she'd seen his markings somewhere. "What're you mumbling about, anyway? You're all alone. Unless... there's someone here?" She looked around the cub curiously. Why anyone would talk to themselves was beyond her.

Jua looked up at the strange girl who had just spoken to him. Well... she was less strange than the other wierd lioness he had met his own age, but he wasn't used to being talked to out of the blue just yet. He had only really been able to wander around by himself for a few days now, and his siblings had always approached him with either caution... or tackling him out of nowhere if he hadn't been paying enough attention. This girl was one of the few who had ever talked to him outside of his own family. She looked... interesting. He was sure he had seen her around anyway, or at least some of her siblings. There were plenty of other kids around, since there had been a sort of baby boom in the firekin. If Jua had cared to, he probably could have found plenty of friends.

Still, seeing another creature vastly improved Jua's mood, because at least now he had something to do. He was most irrtable and bored when there seemed to be nothing going on around him, which was... most of the time so far, "I don't intend to walk very far on it, Red," he instantly instilled a nickname on her, mostly out of habbit, he seemed to have a nickname for everyone, "and does it look like there's any-ruddy-one else here?" He asked, not in a nasty way, he merely pointed out that aside from them, there was no one else, "Unless some magical God is invisible and listening to me rant about how sodding boring it is here."

She chuckled a little at the nickname, since that was just not her name. Nobody'd actually given her a nickname before. Well, maybe besides shortening Miali to just Mia. But at least that had something to do with her real name. Red wasn't any part of Miali! Of course... a majority of her body was red. It set her apart from three of her siblings, since they were mostly dark grey or black, like their father. And like this boy. Maybe that was why he called her Red. Because she was different from him. Yeah, that made sense. A nickname based on how she looked... she thought it over for a moment, and then decided it was alright.

She took a small step closer to him, but as soon as she did, her head drooped a little, her enthusiasm cut back by what he had said. Sure, she hadn't noticed anyone else around, but... maybe they were hiding? Of course, now that he had pointed out that he was alone, it DID seem a tad ridiculous. She had partially said it just to poke fun at him, anyway, but there had been a little part of her that had thought it possible that another cub was just around the corner or something. She persisted with conversation, anyway. "It's only boring if you let it be. There are plenty of things to do, things to practice..." She trailed off, looking around them briefly, as if seeing a whole lot of potential in all of that ... sand.

For Jua, everyone and everything had a nickname, it was just the way he saw the world. What your real name was only really applied if he knew you well. Everyone else got a nickname until he actually decided that yours was worth remembering. And even then... the nicknames did have a habbit of persisting anyway. He usually liked his nicknames better than people's real names anyway, so what did it matter? They could have called him anything they liked, and he probably would have just run with it. As long as it was a cool nickname... like 'Jua the Destroyer' or something like that. Yeah. That was neat.

He tilted his head, not realizing he had offended her... and frankly not caring much if he had. It didn't matter much to him one-way or the other whether she kept up with her end of the conversation. Boring people gave up quickly, it was the interesting ones who kept talking. Or the intolerably boring... He really needed a better set of rules for that kind of thing. "Oh really? Then can you think of something worth doing in all this sand? It's all the same. Awful and boring. Not a thing to do in the whole place." And that was how he saw it. Maybe he'd get lucky and some of the adults would have a fight...

Miali was the type to just talk, even if she thought someone was boring. Of course, she hadn't ever found anyone so boring that it really jumped out at her. At least, she hadn't yet. She didn't really think much of anything was boring, for that matter. Like the sands this kid was going on about. They weren't boring! For pete's sake, they were anything but! The desert was alive. Even at her young age, she could see that. It changed constantly, moved with the wind and with the creatures that lived in it. Nothing stayed the same for even a moment. It was ever changing, ever breathing, living, moving, making sounds. It was a place of extremes. Midday was almost unbearably hot, and then in the middle of the night, it was cold enough to shiver. This place was far from boring.

"It's never the same." She suddenly got very serious, and it was apparent from her expression and tone that this didn't happen often. After all, she was a cub! It was her job to be happy-go-lucky (to a healthy extent, at least) and lively and looking for fun. Serious just didn't suit that role. Anyway, she looked calmly at the black cub, but with a fire and fierceness in her eyes that said she meant what she was saying full heartedly. "Just you breathing changes everything. Our toes move around so much of the sand, and the wind does even more! Tomorrow, this dune won't be like it is right now." She pushed her little left front paw in the sand for emphasis. "It's like it's alive. As alive as you are." Her voice was full of wonder and respect. This was basically the only topic this youngster was really serious about.

Jua was a cub of many things. Spunk, sarcasm and a temper of sorts were but among them... but patience for the 'circle of life' and 'the desert is alive' were not among such tallents. All he saw when he looked around the desert was... more desert. Maybe it changed from day to day, but that just meant things in nature moved around. It was the firekin themselves that made Jua's heart beat faster and his paws ache to run and fight like his blood dictated he should. The heat and the desire that the desert drew from Jua was the want for action and adventure! Sitting around was... boring. He had to get up. He had to move. He had to be social. Anything that had an absence of living, breathing animals wasn't enough to catch his interest. Luckily, Miali was living and breathing, and that was far more interesting than being alone.

"Yes, it is the same." Jua expressed his opinion boldly, sitting up straight, "You look around, sure, stuff moves, but it's all still sand and dirt. Dull, dull, dull! You give me a lion to talk to, to fight with, to train with, that kind of action is what really matters!" He said, standing up, seeming to also gain interest in what they were talking. Even thinking about the words he spoke made his blood boil in anticipation and joy, "The desert may be alive, but it doesn't talk back, not like you or I! Our actions are what matter, they're what make life interesting and worthwhile! Who cares if our breathing changes the landscape? Our words and actions can change someone's life forever, Red!"
