Fauna was thankful that the sun had come out this afternoon, and in an attempt to soak in its warmth she danced and hopped along in an open grove. She noticed that there were still bits of snow by her hooves, but none of the slush bothered her. She was in good spirits since the sun was also in good spirits! She found it right to react as the weather was. Plus, she had no reason to be down anyways. "Isn't this just lovely, Juno? I think I'm beginning to like this area even more day by day!"

As Fauna was happy moving around, a small deer quickly tumbled after her. "You must be careful!" she then yelled, while finally catching up to the fluffy mare. "Miss, you'll mess yourself up if you have too much fun. And then I'll have more work to do!" As much as Juno was worrying, she could only smile as Fauna twirled around. It was good to see her companion in happy spirits. In past days the two had traveled through what felt like an arctic hell, so it seemed nature was granting Fauna a perfect day to enjoy herself. Juno was reading the situation that way at least to keep herself in good spirits as well!

"If I get messed up I won't make you fix it. You deserve a break too you know!" The mare then stopped and allowed for Juno to catch up to her side. "Hey.. don't you think its weird that we haven't met anyone new, yet?" Her voice felt sort of disappointed, but she tried to remain chipper nonetheless. "I wonder if we are wandering in a valley where no one travels?"

Juno shrugged lightly and was constantly nervous at the idea of potential danger living amongst them in the land. But it was a nervousness she kept to herself since there was no reason to make Fauna crazy. "We just have to keep hoping and searching, and before we know it we'll find someone."

There were certain regions in the Kawani that few wandered through without good reason. The barren wastelands that waited beyond these beaten tracks and valleys were not the most pleasant of welcomes when an individual chose to explore. Perhaps that was why both mare and doe found themselves on such a lonely walked. However, as the fates would have it another individual followed a similar road that was soon to converge with their own. Having been gone for months, the stallion had long since forgotten the beauty that exist in the Kawani and more to the point...the heat.

The arctic winds had battered him, torn apart his fur and mane until he had been forced to adapt. His coat was now thicker, his hair braided into a much thicker, single plait and upon his back one of the Inuit's he had been aided by had placed a fur coat. Ironically it was the coat of a deer and it's thick hide provided Fenghuang with additional warmth against the harsh winds. It was safe to say that the journey home had been considerably easier now that he had grown accustomed to such foul weather and brutal winds. Barren and frozen wastelands were now childsplay to the stallion who had led a very sheltered life until the day he had pledged to save the mare he loved and her sight.

Unfortunately he had accounted for the drastic change in temperature that would occur as he approached the more temperate valleys that he hailed from. Sauntering through the gorge, he had remained ignorant to this fact until the sun had risen and he felt it's warmth slam against his hide. There was a time when he had considered such a thing a lovely gift but right now... not so much. Needless to say, beneath the reindeer hide upon his back he was sweating cobs and could probably fill a number of buckets in the process. His winter coat was simply too thick for the lowlands and the sun (something he hadn't seen in a long while) was a bit of a curse.

"I love you too," he murmured, casting his dark eyes upwards towards the blue skies as he proceeded onwards. Every now and again he paused to nudge at a rock or two, but his pace was reasonable and he made quick work of the gorge itself. No sooner had he entered than he found his way through and immediately drifted onto another pathway that was certainly much more familiar to him than the others. It wasn't quite home, but he did know where 'home' was from here.

His ears swivelled to and fro as he took the opportunity to savour the bird calls that now reached his ears. The world had been so terribly quiet as of late and no sooner had he heard them than his roguish smile crept onto his lips and he nodded in approval. So it might have been ridiculously warm and he might have been reeling from the heat, but he had waited many weeks to feel that fluttering in his chest that welcomed him home.

That being said with the coming of these birds songs also came a new sound and his head turned in the direction of the trail that lay nearby. He couldn't actually see who or what was conversing, but his brow did quirk when they made reference to a lack of life. Curious (as was his nature), the stallion gave a toss of his head and sauntered round to this secondary trail - though what he saw wasn't something he had initially anticipated. What he found was not a bickering couple of raccoons, or other such creatures...instead he had found yet another Princess who also had a companion.

"Hooo boy," he murmured to himself, clearing his throat as he continued to observe princess and aid. May the fates help him with this one, if she was as blind as Anelisse then he wouldn't be going on another heroic trek that was for sure. Then again...then one, while interesting - hadn't actually caused him to feel like his heart was in his throat. How very peculiar...

"Uh - you two lost or something?" he enquired in an attempt to gain their attention. "Little far from the Kawani, if I don't say so myself..."

Fauna didn't pride herself on carrying any strong senses when it came to finding others or traveling and finding good landscapes. It was probably one of the reasons she and Juno were lost! So when she heard the voice of another, she glanced back and forth and around her before finally feeling a tug from Juno to her hair. Oh, so the voice was behind her? With a quick swivel backwards she glanced to see a surprising red stallion. His appearance was much different then her own in the sense of composure, and she wondered if the stallion had come from a long journey or something. He looked incredibly tired and beat but was still glowing for some reason. See, the sun did miraculous things! "Hello!" she then said, while walking a few steps closer. Before she could make it very far, she felt Juno pulling her back by her tail. "Ow! What are you doing!"

Juno was relieved that she had stopped Fauna from moving any closer, and with a dash she moved herself in front of her companion and identified the male. He didn't look evil... and he had asked a question that someone evil wouldn't have asked in a voice that sounded rather pleasant. Even though he looked sort of scraggly in appearance that was something a good bath could fix! Plus, she could also help out with her own wonderful skills."So, just so we are clear, you aren't going to hurt us or anything?" her bright eyes continued to watch the male carefully. If the red stallion WAS going to hurt them, Juno would send Fauna air-bound and somehow get out of there herself. But for now, she hoped that things would be alright for the three of them.

Fauna interrupted Juno's thought process by stepping much closer now and even past Juno. Her bright eyes felt sorry for the male. He looked so very tired! "Yes, we are lost. We've been going in circles I'm afraid. And we have yet to reach the Kawani area. But what about you? You aren't roaming around in circles too are you?" Uh oh, if that was the case, what if this stallion had been going in circles for months?! And if Fauna continued to do such with Juno, would she look as tired as the stallion did!? Wait a minute. The stallion said 'if I say so myself?' So maybe that meant he did know where he was going! "If you do know the way to the correct lands, then do you mind us tagging along? We can just follow you, and not disturb you if that's easier." She then looked at Juno, who was just as curious now as the mare.

The glow was most likely sweat if he were honest, then again the swirls on his pelt were inclined to glow very dimly in the dark so perhaps he could attribute some of this 'glow' to that as well. That being said, as the pair continued to observe him and evidently judge initially on appearance he couldn't help but release a slight chuckle. Clearing his throat again, he watched closely as the doe made the first move and enquired as to whether or not he intended to hurt anyone. To be entirely honest if he were that type of stallion he would have done it already.

"Gonna level with you, I got better things to do than stand around and contemplate eating anyone," he shrugged loosely and shook the stiffness from his limbs. Right hoof first, he gave it a stretch, the left soon to follow suit until the tingling in his limbs ceased and he was reasonably comfortable again. "That and I doubt my teeth would do the job all that well," he continued. His expression remained amiable and it was clear that he hadn't taken offence to the query. He had heard worse and ever since his princess had referred to him as 'insufferable' and considered him vermin...he couldn't really get much worse.

"Then again that's probably not a question you want to be asking around these parts," he shuffled his fur 'cloak' more comfortably around his shoulders and sighed as he glanced between mare and doe again. Both seemed to possess the same connection as Anelisse and raccoon did. That bond that required no words and often made everyone else feel like a third wheel - but eh... He had long since come to the conclusion that he was not the 'heroic' type in every since of the word. If he needed to intervene he would, but quests and anything else that involved proving anything to anyone wasn't his thing.

For example - if she had vanished and they sought heroes to find her it was highly unlikely he'd go...unless he was paid.

Luckily for the pair, they had bumped into him on his way home and their predicament was something that could be solved with ease and at his own convenience. After all, he was heading that direction anyway and after remaining in solitude for goodness knows how long, a little chit chat would be good for him. More to the point, it would be good for him to readjust to the rather 'colourful' personalities that chose to exist here. It was just as well she hadn't mentioned a bath though, or things could have been very different!

Whether he liked it or not though the 'convenience' was generally an indication that he still had a heart and was compelled to help others. The difference being that he no longer dedicated himself to wild quests and promises - at least this time he was guaranteed success.

...That was the only problem was falling for something you couldn't have.

"I actually came from the north, treasure hunt you might say..." his smile brightened his features considerably and he released a soft snort. "Rest assured I definitely know my way home," he pointed out gently and shook his head. That said and reassurances offered, he turned from the pair and permitted them to consider his words more closely. He wasn't adverse to the company as it would be good for him - but he wasn't in the mood to 'put anyone out' either.

"If you want to tag along you can," he called, then he paused and glanced over his shoulders with a more roguish and charming grin. "I'm not a hermit you know..."

Fauna was so relieved that she almost fell over! "Thank you so much, erm, Mr..?" a silly pause came in after her realization, and she strode closer to the kind stallion. Juno was right behind her feeling somewhat silly herself! "How rude of me, I didn't ask you of your name before seeking out such a favor!" With a light curtsy, she bowed her head and bent her knees. "I am Fauna, and this is Juno. We are most thankful to be gaining your assistance! If you wouldn't mind, we'd love to always remember your name." The stallion was interesting in what he said all right, and Fauna wanted to fall over from yet another detail he proclaimed. "You.. you were treasure hunting?! Juno and I do that all the time! All of the things we are wearing are treasures we have found together!" Though, she didn't really ask what kind of treasure he was searching for. All and all she was impressed and excited to be following someone with good tastes!

With Fauna on one side of the male, Juno made her way so that she was around him on the other. "We really are thankful to have found someone as helpful as you. This is our first time journeying somewhere new, and so far the journey has been a mess!' Juno watched as Fauna glared embarrassedly, but the doe knew they had nothing to hide at this point. The stallion was probably keen enough to guess that. "And I didn't meant to offend you by asking if you were evil- I worry so much that I can't help but ask. I suppose I should trust my instincts more, I could tell you were of a kinder soul." Yeah, rather than blatantly questioning, Juno would work on that instinct and appearance thing! It seemed to work for others, so why not herself?

"So how long or far is the journey?" Fauna then asked while wiggling her wings in excitement. "Hopefully it will give me plenty of time to get to know you. You are the first other Soquili I have ever met out of my own homed area!" She instantly lowered her eyes to the swirl on his back and found such beauty in the fact that he had a rainbow on him! "Have you lived in the Kawani area a long time?" she then inquired, while noticing Juno's watchful eye.

"No need to bother him too much!" the doe then scolded. "He is exhausted!"

Fauna didn't want to overload the male with questions anyways, so she quieted herself and drifted her eyes forward with a smile. "I wonder who you are returning home to!" A quiet glee crept from the crease of her mouth, and she was glad Juno wasn't behind her to pull her hair or something!

Fenghuang had been content enough to chew on the inside of his cheek lightly as both females spoke. They were rather excitable in their own right, truly delighted to make his acquaintance and had considerably more manners than he was accustomed to as of late. It was really quite a shift from the norm considering what he had endured and the encounters he had been in prior to his decision to go on his 'quest'. That being said it was a pleasant change and had it not been for her final query then it was highly likely the smile would have remained on his lips. Instead, he came to an abrupt halt and his chewing stopped. Staring straight ahead he rolled his shoulders and released a quiet snort.

"No one," he replied at last. "I am just returning to familiar lands, that's all..." he at last started forward once more and cleared his throat. It hadn't been his intention to stop, but the reference to Anelisse placed him in a rather strange mood. He would sooner no one knew of his intentions, lest they judge him and mock him for such a ridiculous choice. They didn't have to understand but he didn't have to explain himself either. "For nearly half a year I have been gone, it will be nice to embrace familiar territory again."

"...My parents named me Fenghuang though - you can call me by Feng or Huang, the decision is yours," he added as an after thought. They had introduced themselves prior to their initial question, but the final question had distracted him from this and he was forced to backtrack bit by bit. That being said, with each step the amiable expression was returning to his features again and the charming (if a little tired) smile had crept back onto his lips. Depression didn't suit him and consequently he was quick to remove such things from his being.

"That being said you two have certainly found yourself in peculiar territory," he glanced between the pair and chuckled lightly. "It's lucky you chose to wander in a circle when you could have been wandering into a death trap," shrugging his shoulders again, he shifted the coat back over his form (as it had slipped) and returned his gaze to the road ahead. "In terms of distance it's debatable - depends on how fast you wanna walk really but I'd say about a day at this pace, tops." After this he lulled into silence for a period and then released another soft snort, shaking his head dismissively at the doe's apology...after all, he'd heard worse things said to him!

"You've found some lovely treasures, Princess," he confirmed finally and flicked his gaze towards the jewels in her hair. She was simply a gorgeous one and no doubt, the stallions of the Kawani would bow before her in awe - it was just a shame he couldn't be one of them. It was both infuriating and puzzling all at the same time! To be bound to a mare who scarcely recognised your existence and to be so hopelessly devoted to her...to the point that you couldn't hit on a mare that was right in front of your face.

...Stallions all over the world would laugh at him.

Heh.

"More successful than my hunt, that is for sure..." He mused and then offered another of his smiles. "And in regards to the Kawani - I was born there, my family live on the slopes." He explained.

Finally, they knew of his name! Fauna of course jumped to the occasion and rejoiced. "Fenghuang! How pretty! I think I'll call you Feng since I like that we both have F names." And there was no reason to take that similarity away! Though, when he at first told her of why he was returning home, she wondered if he was all alone then. But soon enough, he revealed that he had family, and that was rather pleasant to imagine. "Wow do you have any siblings too? That must be so nice and fun!" Though still, to be gone so long and on his own? It wasn't Fauna's place to question, but it still worried her somewhat for his health and emotions. "I'm sure your family will be overjoyed to find you back."

When both Fauna and Juno heard of the distance, they looked at each other and Juno could only reply, "Well we can always move faster, too! We don't want to limit you in any way since you were on your way home. I can drag Fauna along anywhere!" Fauna may have looked delicate, but she was able to do whatever was needed or asked of her. She even nodded at Juno's suggestions. At Feng's danger statement though, Juno's face was clouded and scrunched. "Trust me, I am still thankful that no danger came anywhere near us. We were obviously too lucky. Ugh."

"Jeez Juno, you obsess too much. Luck is our thing, anyways." Fauna shook her head somewhat and focused more on the treasure talk! It was funny that Feng called her princess, she had heard that before from some of her herd mates! In personality she tried to act more lovely then a princess would and not become too spoiled from all of the materials she carried. She cherished them all too much to get greedy. "Thank you! I'm sure Juno and I could help you find some marvelous treasures since you are helping us find the way? Juno is wonderful at putting pieces together too." Though, that might not have been what he wanted, most stallions didn't care for materials like they did. But it was worth a shot to ask!

At his success statement, Fauna looked at Juno who in tern shrugged her shoulders in confusion. Fauna then spoke out. "If you don't mind me asking, what were you trying to find? Maybe Juno and I can help you! We've gotten rather lucky through all of our travels, and I'd love to pass the luck on to you." Especially since they seriously owed him! If only Fauna knew the context of the stallion's heart, maybe she could really help him... but for now, she would aid him as much as she could without knowing any of his internal plights.

"Oh I am sure they will make their feelings well known in relation to my absence," he assured the mare. No doubt he would receive an onslaught of lectures, chittering and endless talking the instant he stepped on Islagiatt turf again. His eldest brother would have something to say at the very least - chastise him for disappearing one day and never returning. The only word they had ever received was that he was simply heading north to locate some sort of treasure that cured the blind. An utterly ridiculous statement in the eyes so logical as Ambroise's but Feng hadn't really been considering the consequences of his actions at the time.

When he had left, he had been a creature of spontaneity that had never considered the consequences of his actions. Over the course of his 'quest' he'd become a tad more cynical and if it generally involved a sacrifice on his part, he simply wasn't interested. Now, as he wandered home he knew all too well what he had done and how worried his family would be but eh... Life was a learning curve, right?

"I have eight siblings, five brothers and three sisters...though one of my sisters was adopted at birth," he explained, a fondness in his eyes as he recalled his family. They were a large one, certainly a colourful one and more often than not they were all a bit mad. He'd missed the eccentricity and warmth they exuded - lectures or not it would be nice to feel his mother's embrace again at the very least. "I have six nieces and nephews, and many others..."

"As for the treasure though..." he sighed and shook his head. "I don't need it anymore," he cleared his throat and pursed his lips briefly. Initially it seemed he had no intention of even remotely touching on his quest, but he could at the very least humour her. "When I left I aimed to save a princess, but the spirits decided I was not her prince and as a consequence the treasure was not there," he shrugged loosely and chuckled. "I guess someone beat me to it."

"I do thank you for the offers though, they are received with thanks. That being said I have no intention of exhausting one such as yourself - whether you be capable of a quicker pace or not," he pointed out mildly. In truth he had been dawdling at this pace for weeks, it suited him given the distance he was forced to walk and as such it was comfortable for him. Besides, in some manner of speaking he was attempting to delay the inevitable demise of his Princess.

...He'd been away for months and the spirits only knew what they had done to her by now.

Fauna's eyes opened as widely as they could. "Whoa, big family!" Ok, so the stallion had nothing to be lonely about! She could at least sit comfortably with that thought too. "That is truly amazing. You are very lucky you know!" Rather then the bombardment that Feng would face when he returned home, Fauna was imaging a bombardment of love and affection from all of his family members. It showed how little Fauna knew about some acts of families!

As if Fauna's eyes couldn't get wider, she shuffled excitedly as he mentioned a princess. But then, her excitement vanished instantly. "Wait wait wait, what? You can't get beat?! This is you're princess you are talking about!" The mare then stomped her hooves as she walked next to Feng and tried to piece everything together. "What do you mean you can't be her prince? That's just bull sh-"

"MISS you MUST not talk like that!" Juno then intervened, while scrambling to make her way to the other side of Fauna again. Fauna drooped her eyes a bit and felt her hair being tugged by Juno. "Still, it's not fair for Feng! He's a nice guy, he deserves what he wants!" Fauna lifted her eyes again and watched the red stallion carefully. "What do the spirits know, anyways." she then said, while lowering her ears sadly. Fauna liked to hope that everyone could accomplish anything they set their mind to. So how could Feng not be able to get his princess?

While Fauna was sulking, Juno sighed and shook her head quickly. "She always gets so involved.. I am sorry to hear it didn't work out, Feng. But we are still able to help if in any way that we can."

Fauna chimed in most randomly, "Yes yes, of course! I'll fight the spirits and while I am fighting them you can rush in and steal your princess back!"

.................!;

Oh sweet merciful gods, what type of Princess had he found?

In a manner of speaking she would have been the perfect mare for him before he had stumbled upon Anelisse. Spontaneous to a point, yet optimistic and not inclined to give up. A hint of passion here and there, though she was swept in to a fairy tale to a point herself. It was strange but to him it seemed that all mares who resembled Princesses lived in a state of semi-blindness. While her enthusiasm was endearing and brought humour to a rather painful situation, there was little he could do. He had learnt that he couldn't affect freewill and the spirits already knew that before he did - this passionate princess could call out to the skies all she liked and there was nothing he could do to save his mare...

It was a rather sorry state of affairs really, but her exhuberance caused him to smile and soon after he began to laugh. He certainly couldn't fault the mare for trying and he was now thankful that she had stumbled upon the trail to led to his home. Goodness knew that the Kawani lands needed an injection of positivity into it's stagnant air - new life would be good for those who lived there to encounter. She was even a breath of fresh air for him and despite himself he found he wasn't allowed to wallow in self pity when in the midst of such optimism.

...She sort of reminded him of his mother, really.

"Sometimes things just don't work out," he explained gently, clearing his throat to clear the laughter from his voice. That being said the smile remained on his lips and he warmed to the pair. After a considerable amount of solitude, he was glad that he had followed his ears and submitted to his curiosity. His gambit had paid off and he had gained entertaining company. "If you want me to be entirely honest," he grinned in his typical manner, though his gaze was somewhat sheepish. "She doesn't like me, I don't fit in to her world very well."

"But you know...that's okay, not every world is for everyone." He shrugged loosely and lifted his eyes skyward for a short while. "Though the thought of being so terribly gallant is an amusing one, even if I don't fit the fairy tale persona...you know?"

Oh my... so that's what he meant. She felt sort of silly for being so crazy just a moment ago, but from his smile she was sure that he could at least get some humor and laughs out of the situation. That was all that mattered, too. She just wanted him to be in a good place like she was! But it was hard when the one you desired didn't want you back. Feng must have been battling that internally since she'd met him.

"Hm, that is a complicated issue indeed." she then admitted, while skipping any apologies or unnecessary outbursts. Juno was now watching Fauna as well, wondering what nonsense she would speak of next. "Do you mind me asking some details, like why? Why does it have to be this way. I mean, if you don't want to answer I completely understand one hundred percent!" She felt sort of nervous now asking him this stuff, only because she didn't want him to drag in the sad memories. But these were the things that were probably on his mind anyways.

"I, I guess I am confused you know?" she then said, while looking at Feng finally. "We all live in this world, right? What world could you possibly be talking about? There's only one right here." And with that, Juno tugged at her mane so hard the Fauna had to lower her head in distress. "Leave the boy alone!" the doe then said, while apologizing and shaking her head towards Feng. "If I was bothering him he would tell me." Fauna then said from under her breath, while shaking Juno off of her mane.

"I think you fit in with a prince persona just fine." she then added, while pondering so many possibilities. "I just think this sort of reality is too harsh for you to carry on your own, that's all."

"A kind gesture but it's really not needed," he pointed out, his tone still mild. She was certainly passionate about such things, wildly helpful in a manner of speaking and it was difficult not to be warmed by such a heart. Her's was certainly in the right place and despite her appearance she had a great deal of consideration for those around her. After all, here she was in the company of a total stranger attempting to offer him an ear - it was an ear he didn't need mind you, but it was the thought that counted. It really was about time the Kawani had someone like her in it's presence.

"Let us put it this way," he cleared his throat and continued to walk, his expression remaining amiable and otherwise relaxed. He had dwelled on such subjects for weeks and was coming to terms with them. Solitude had it's advantages and without company he had been able to rattle out his thoughts, organise them and accept or reject various ones. She was right, such things had been on his mind but his heart didn't ache quite as much as it once had - his resolve had merely strengthened. "Sometimes there are those who hide from reality, content to live within a world of their own creation. Their word is law, they see and hear only what they want to..."

"Unfortunately I am not an image of beauty and as such, do not catch the eye of my Princess," he shrugged loosely, his tone matter of fact as though it was simply a fact of life. "I am a rogue and a vigilante while she herself is an image of perfection. Needless to say, we don't match and to quite a number of individuals in the Kawani...image is everything." Personally, he hadn't an issue with his appearance and had developed quite a liking to his rugged (if beaten) appearance. It gave him character, it made him interesting and frankly... The muscles made him look damn good!

"The only way to get her to see me would be to jion her world and to be honest," he heaved a sigh and arched a brow, glancing at the mare pointily. "I really wouldn't be me if I didn't look like I'd just crawled out of a bush!" He chuckled at this and returned his gaze to the road ahead, content that he had explained his situation to the mare in a reasonable amount of detail.

"The world's not always a fairy tale, Princess... And who's to say I'm all alone, you know?"

She was quiet all through Feng's explanation of these self-created worlds. The overall description sounded somewhat familiar but Fauna couldn't imagine a grown soquili acting in such a way. "I've heard of children doing that sort of thing but never a full grown adult." And with that, yet another tug-pain came from a long strand of her hair. Juno shook her head at her companion and sighed an exhausted sigh. "You'll never learn." But Fauna could only reply, "I meant no harm by it, I am just saying what I've seen!" Maybe she was too honest sometimes but she was slowly learning.

As he described more, she felt her brow furrow somewhat in distress. "Image is everything? Goodness me." Although she liked being beautiful, it didn't define her everything! That wasn't the sole reason she liked herself! The way she examined beauty was obviously much different then the others of the land, and a part of her became nervous with how she and Juno would fit in. "I wonder what it is your princess actually desires." she then mused, while drifting her eyes ahead. "If your princess is absolutely stunned by her own beauty, then perhaps she just refuses to see beauty in others? Or has never examined a different kind of beauty from herself."

Juno, who was walking quietly beside her companion, was now interested in the open discussion as well. "As the miss's states, it may not even be that you have to change your appearance you know. It could just be that you have to adapt such a confidence and mindset. But, if we are wrong and this mare seriously wants you to change yourself physically, then maybe she is too afraid to get to know you or something. Who knows what past relationships she's had with others?"

Fauna nodded at Juno's surprising words, and she tilted her head at the male's appearance. "I don't really know why you consider yourself so different in appearance. I wouldn't even call your look natural or bedridden- it is just the Fenghuang way. We are all born with our own looks and we should be thankful to have the opportunity to stand out." How could it be that his princess didn't respect that quality about Feng? "Have you tried teaching the mare how to examine beauty in a new way? Then again, that might be difficult in the circumstances you've described..."

She was quiet again before commenting on his fairy tale thoughts. "Well, even I know that fairy tales don't actually exist. Want to know why?" she then winked at Juno and leaned in to Feng's ear. "We all write our own stories for a reason, and fairy tales are just there to copy us!" The silly buggars! "So maybe you'll find a story somewhere else!" And hopefully he would. "Or, since you've been gone so long maybe the mare's own story will change too!" Oh, that would be better!

He had tried to get Anelisse to open her eyes a number of times, had attempted to remove the blindfold through a number of means and yet each time he found himself spurned. She was fearful of the world outside her bubble, would enter a state of panic and agitation if things didn't go her way. The gods had stood as his witness as she spoke of him as though he were the scum of the earth, simply because he hadn't conformed to her definition of society. It had been his gamble, a risk he had chosen to take the moment he had seen that faint light deep within the mare. Needless to say it hadn't really paid off and he now found himself in a sorry state of affairs.

Originally he had sought out the aid of a masked mare to advise him - she had been the one to send him north. While he had developed a loathing for her during the beginning of his trek, that loathing had soon transformed into respect and understanding. The more that he endured, the more wounds inflicted upon his form and sure enough he began to listen to the wisened words of the elders. He couldn't affect another's freewill, if he chose to do that the affects could be far more severe than simply being rejected and relegated to being nothing more than dirt on a hoof.

"You can only teach another something when they want to know," he pointed out wisely, though his expression remained amiable. Her attempts to encourage him and to reassure him of his appearance were pleasant but unnecessary. Over the course of the last few months he had developed a liking to his rugged form. He was significantly larger than any other male, was much heavier and was built with such thick muscle that despite his winter coat these seemed to ripple with each motion. For all intents and purposes he looked a damn sight better than most of the lazy buggers in the Kawani as was! The only difference was that he opted to look scraggily as opposed to embracing the aid of a hair stylist every single day...

"Otherwise the lessons don't stick," he shrugged loosely and soon released a chuckle at her otherwise idealistic view of life. True, there were those in the world that did create their own fairy tales but he wasn't one of them. He wasn't about to inform her of his intentions either - lest she lecture him about the stupidity. It was his decision to devote his life to ensuring his princess remained secure, even if she couldn't see him...no one else had to understand this other than he.

"That being said, I think we've spoken quite enough about my horrendous state of affairs," the impish smile returned to his lips and he continued to guide both mare and doe towards the Kawani. "You're strangers to the area right? You're obviously not from the northern regions either so where'd you crop up from, eh?"

Fauna would have responded more the the stallion's words, but she chose to respect his wishes of course! She could see Juno watching her carefully, and she seriously wondered if her companion had any faith in her at all! She wasn't a dimwit! She knew when someone wanted the subject at peace. "Well no matter what I wish you great luck as we draw closer to your homelands. Who knows what truly awaits for the both of us!" And with that, she head-bobbed and kept on walking with a grin. See, she could handle herself just fine!

It seemed the stallion wanted to know a few things about her, and Fauna ruffled her wings while preparing how she could explain herself. "I grew up in a herd not far from here. My herd mates don't really know that I've left..." she ruffled her feathers again as if distracting herself from such a thought. "My herd was probably more obsessed with beauty then your own princess. So, to arrange that everyone always looked their best, we were all given companions. That was how I met Juno." She grinned at her white friend and shook her mane out before continuing her story.

"I've never felt like royalty, but I've always been brought up that way. But when I met Juno I didn't want her to be my slave! That wasn't fair to me. I try hard to keep myself and my voice cool and calm and not too harsh or judgmental. But everyone I grew up with was different and I hated that. I guess we all hope to find the perfect niche, so I left with Juno to check out a entirely new place. I don't need privacy or borders anymore. I just want to see what's out here in this world!" Plus, she wanted a better life for Juno. If she were to stay where she was, she and her companion couldn't be as nearly as close as they were.

"So, that was how Juno and I got lost. We left without even realizing it! Since it is our first time out of private borders, we didn't know what to do with ourselves! I suppose some children get the opportunity to run around and explore at a young age. Well, even if Juno and I are older we are still going to enjoy exploring like that! But that kind of outlook on nature got us lost in circles." Not everyone had the freedom to do as they wished! But Fauna would have that sort of life soon, and it was thanks to Feng that she and Juno were being led there!
