Maera sat at the edge of the shadows, watching Blaze with their daughter Ember. She didn't move, and she made sure that Loki was beside her always.
Loki looked at the bright white that seemed to be everywhere in the day. He could hear two namrah talking, and he could turn his head and see his mother, but never what was in the light. Without turning to look at her, he asked, "Mother...?"
Maera looked down at Loki. "Yes child?"
"What's in the white that you always watch?"
"It's your sister, Ember."
"Sister?"
"Yes."
"What's a sister"
"Perhaps, one day you will find out."
"I hope so..."

Blaze lay next to his daughter and sighed. He wished he could see Ember's mother again...maybe he would one day. With that happier thought he fell asleep.
Ember prodded her father for a second and smiled as he didn't move. He never let her play in the dark and she had a pull to do so. She wiggled her way out and ran into the forest. She wouldn't stay long and she would come back before he woke.

Loki was looking around the dark forest after having slipped past his mother. It was a rare chance that he was given the chance to explore around at night, so he was going to take advantage of it to the fullest. He jumped over snowy logs and ducked under branches, enjoying himself thoroughly.

Ember heard a noise up in front of her and at first stood completely still. She thought maybe whatever it was wouldn't hear her. Then she decided to investigate and hid behind a log just as another small namir jumped over it.

Loki stopped and stood still, ears fully upright as he looked around. He had a feeling that someone was there, watching him, but he couldn't see anyone. He began walking towards Ember without knowing it, just deciding that he should probably return to his mother before he received a scolding.

Ember saw the male child and decided to talk to him, even though she knew her father wouldn't have wanted her too. "Hello?" She called to him with just a touch of nervousness. He could be anything!

Loki's ear twitched as he heard noise in front of him, and he immediatly found her in the bushes. "Who... Who're you?" He cautiously asked. He glanced around to make sure his mother wouldn't appear to scold him for talking to the girl.

Ember looked at the male and then slowly walked toward him. "I'm Ember. Who are you?" If he could ask so could she, right? She looked back at where her Dad was sleeping and sighed relief that he still was asleep.

Loki cocked his head slightly to the side, there was a certain... familiarity... about her that he couldn't quite understand. Like they had been together a long time ago. "I'm Loki."

She smiled, "Nice to meet you." She then looked down. "If you here a growl, run. My Dad doesn't like me to talk to strangers." Which she thought was odd, because everyone starts as strangers, right?

Loki shifted and looked around. "My mom doesn't like me talking to strangers either." Something then clicked in his mind, his mom had said he had a sister named Ember, hadn't she? Could this girl be that sister? But then again, what was a sister, he sure didn't know.

"Sounds like your Mom and my Dad could get along." She laughed and then looked at Loki a bit harder. "You know you look like him a bit, weird." She wasn't sure what that could mean. He seemed familiar as well, hmm.

Loki nodded. He cocked his head to the side and shrugged. "You look kinda weird too. Like a fire version of my mother." HE squinted his face together. "It's creepy."

Ember plopped down, "It is creepy. I wonder what it all means." Could it mean something significant? She didn't know, she was a child after all.

"Yeah..." Loki placed his paw under his chin and thought for a moment. For a kit, he was suprisingly smart. His ear twitched as an idea came to mind and he grinned. "Did you're dad ever tell you anything about having a brother?"
