The snow was falling lightly, and Minerva watched it with eyes wider than usual. This was the first time Daddy had let her come outside when the snow was out! Daddy currently was several feet away, rolling snow to make a man. A man of snow, to be a friend for the cabbage girl.

Being a rather sheltered young girl, even a few feet of space was a great change of pace. She carefully leaned down, packing her own snow. She threw it at a tree and missed, then promptly pretended that she hadn't thrown the ball at all. Hmph! Stupid tree.

Missed the tree and hit Leviathan square in the face. The child made a great show of cleaning himself off and shaking like a wet dog; the lobster boy was no fan of winter. Rook chuckled to himself, staying one step behind his younger brother. The teal-haired boy looked around for the attacker.

"Hey!" Leviathan puffed and stalked over to his attacked. "It's not nice to throw snowballs at people, you know. That hit me in the face!" And he, just an innocent passer-by!

Minerva's eyes went wide. Oh, no. "Dinna mean to." She said quietly. Oh, dear. He was quite a bit bigger than she was! "I's sorry. I missda tree." She said anxiously.

This boy was quite a bit bigger than she was, and she wasn't quite sure how to deal with conflict. Oh, dear. Oh my!

"Oh." Leviathan felt a pang of guilt for yelling at the younger child, but as soon it was there, it was gone. That in itself should have been concerning, but the surfer was too disgruntled by the cold to notice. "Well, you should watch out next time, you know. Daddies get real mad when you hit them with snow." He'd know. Older brothers were very similar.

"...why're you trying to hit the tree, anyways?" That seemed kinda stupid.

"To see if I could." Minny said. Now that Levi didn't seem mad she calmed and smiled. "I's never seen snow before."

It was her first winter of her first year of life. The world was so big and new! "Didn't know what else to do, 'cept make snowmens."

Leviathan blinked. For someone so little, she was pretty well spoken. He was fairly certain he was just a yeller, himself. (But whatever. It still got his point across all the same.) "Snow's kinda gross," Levi muttered, no problem with raining on the girl's parade. "It's really cold, and stuff. And not good for surfing." That was all he really cared about, anyways.

Lev looked down and kicked a clump of snow with his boot. "You ever try a snow angel? Or a fort?"

"Nope. Don't know how." It was sad, really. She was quite protected, didn't know much about the wonders of snow. "Tell me? And Tell me, surfing. What's that?"

If the little one refused to learn how to read, and Daddy didn't let her watch TV, she had to learn somehow. Questions were a good way! Minerva leaned down and carefully started to ball up snow in her little mittened hands.

"...you don't know what surfing is?" Leviathan stopped dead in his tracks and regarded the toddler, wide-eyed. What a poor, sheltered life she must lead. No wonder she was just hurling snowballs at trees; if she didn't know what surfing was... Leviathan shook his head and set his jaw, thinking of how to explain it best. "Well, you have a big surfboard, which you take out into the water. You go really far out, and when a big crest comes, you get up on it and you ride it all the way back in. It's wicked cool. Most people can't do it, though." Leviathan was obligated to point that out. It was part of his awesome factor.

The lobster-boy wandered closer and leaned down, scooping up some snow to make a snow ball of his own. "...want to make a snowman?"

So maybe he felt bad for her. Just a little.

"Wicked cool." Minerva repeated, nodding. Her mental image was something like a man on a two by four on the water. Oh well. She had the general idea for it.

"Mmmhm." She nodded, rolling up more snow into her ball. "I's seen pictures. Big ball, littler ball, littlest ball, right?"

Oh, good. At least she knew how to recognize when she saw, er, someone told her about it. There was hope for the toddler yet. "Hey, what's your name, kid?" Leviathan suddenly asked, not sure if he'd already asked, or if she mentioned. Whatever. If she wanted to be called by her name, and not just 'kid', it would do her well to answer his question.

"Uh, yeah. And then you get rocks for the eyes and sticks for the arms. And a carrot for the nose, but I don't carry around veggies on a regular basis," the lobster boy commented, walking over to where the little girl was rolling her snow. "Here, I'll make the biggest one for you okay? And you can work on the middle one?"

"Minny. Minerva, but that's long. Who's you?" She said, rolling. She'd roll as much snow as she could!

" 'Stead of a carrot, use another stick. Witch nose for snowbeast."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:41 pm

"I'm Leviathan Dagon-Hazard. But you can call me Lev," the boy replied, leaning over to make a small snowball. He made it as big he could with his hands before he set it down into the snow to roll around. "Leviathan's a long name, too," he commented. "My dad likes long names, or something." He shrugged. There was no other an adult would name his child something so ridiculous.

Once he was satisfied with the size of his snowball, Leviathan looked around for Minerva's snowball. "Is it big enough?" he asked. "Do you want to make the head, too, or do you want me to make it?"

"It's big enough." Minny decided, looking at it. "I can make the head. But you put it on. Will be too high. Don't like heights." She started rolling snow to make the head ball.

"Lev's a good name. Leviathan. Leviathan is mean. I got readed stories. You's a good Lev, but not a good Leviathan. I don't think you could eat peoples."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 25, 2009 11:24 am

Leviathan raised his eyebrows. No one he had ever come across even mentioned his namesake. How very, very curious. ( And how wrong the little girl was, Leviathan thought wryly, he was becoming more and more a monster every day. ) But the boy kept his thoughts to himself and waited patiently while Minny made the head, sticking the middle onto the snowman.

"Don't like heights, huh? What are you gonna do when you grow?" he teased.

Minerva hefted the head up and offered it to him. It was big! To her, at least.

"Never grow." She said seriously. "I stay little perfect angel forevers." Why would she grow? Daddy liked her as she was. Daddy wouldn't like it if she grew!
