The shroud of white that draped itself over the forest reflected in the eyes of Peter Cottontail as he poked his head out of a bush, the view hampered by branches heavily laden with snow. Such a long time until Easter, he thought with a sigh. He wished his coat was white so that he could blend in better with all of this snow, but for some reason that eluded even him, his coat remained a stubborn, earthy brown. This, he discovered with despair, made it a lot harder for him to hide. He was shy by nature, and tended to hide whenever he saw anyone he didn't know (and sometimes even if he DID know them), but hiding among all this white was just impossible. His best hope was to stay within the comfort and meager warmth of the snow-covered bushes, watching what little life ventured out of doors in such weather.

If there was one thing that Thumper actually liked about the wintertime was the sound the snow made when he hopped through it. That of course, and the delightful fun of skating about on the ice covered bodies of water. But for today the young bunny was merely frolicking in the expansive whiteness and humming a little tune as he did so. The only thing that could make this day better, would be to share it with someone else. Thumper enjoyed meeting new Namrah and had a lot of fun getting to see how each of them lived. He stopped and sat in front of a bush to look around. No one of interest seemed to be out today. He frowned slightly, a little bummed by the solitude. "Well I wish there was someone to play with..."

Peter saw the young bunny bounding through the snow, and he watched him as he bounded close to the bush he was currently huddled up in. Lucky fellow, Peter thought, to enjoy the snow so much. He couldn't help but notice that the bunny didn't have the white fur for blending in either, though he did have a nice passable gray. At the young one's lament of not having a playmate, Peter felt the sudden urge to throw caution to the wind and offer himself. He rarely got a chance to play due to his shyness, but seeing another of his own kind seemed to make his shyness recede. He poked his head out of the bush and offered a cheery "Hello."

Thumper jumped and turned around at the hello, quite surprised. He looked at the earthy brown rabbit before him then at his blue coat and smiled. "Heya!" he replied still smiling. He'd yet to see another rabbit about on his adventures. It was a nice change, "Were you hiding in that bush the whole time I was here?"

Peter smiled as he carefully walked out of the bush until he was in full view of the other. "Yes. I saw you playing in the snow, but out of habit I remained hidden. Then you wandered close to the bush and I just could not resist." He offered a small bow, the ends of his coat brushing teh snow and looking as though someone had dipped them in snow. "My name is Peter Cottontail, but you can call me Peter. And what is your name?"

Thumper gave a big grin, his happy golden eyes watching the coat. "Hiya Peter! My name's Thumper..." he paused for a moment, as if in some sort of thought, then continued again, "just Thumper...But you can call me whatever you want." He gave a short happy thump, the sound muffled by the soft snow. Then he thought on his new friend having been hiding in the bush. "Well why were ya hiding? I'm not big 'n scary or nuthin'."

Peter scratched an ear in thought, wincing as a few bits of snow that were stuck to his paw went down his ear. Shaking his head a little, he smiled sheepishly at Thumper. "Well, to be perfectly honest, I am not usually outside in this sort of weather. I try to make myself scarce one spring has gone. Plus, I tend to hide from everything as a general rule; I just.....tend to be shy around others. Though for some reason, perhaps because you are like me, I do not feel my usual shyness around you."

"Well it is kinda cold outside for us rabbits," Thumper replied with a sound nod. He rather liked the snow though, it made the world a whole other place to him. He thought on the shy part. He had to admit, for a rabbit he himself wasn't very timid or anything. He liked others. "You mean because I'm a rabbit?" he smiled, "Cause I'm not shy. I only hide from one Namir....mostly cause she tried to eat me..."

Peter's eyes went wide. "Eat you? There are namrah that eat other namrah?" He hunched down, the very thought making him fearful, until he remembered that his coat pockets were full of certain death for all namrah, unless they happened to be anthros. "Well at any rate, I hope she is not here, whoever she may be. I do not relish the thought of being eaten, or even trying to be eaten." He looked about him now with more interest. "So, if I might ask, what do rabbits do out of doors on days like this?"

"Well I guess there are...But so far I've only met her," Thumper said reassuringly, not wanting to over worry his new friend, "She's very pink. SO if you wanted to keep an eye out that's what I'd look for." He gave a slight nod. He then paused a bit on the next question. Thumper himself did lots of things in the snow. "Well I like to ice skate at the pond!" Thumper said beaming, "Well...I would like to but my friends don't typically like that. They're afraid of the water..."

Peter couldn't help but crack a smile at the cannibalistic namir's description. "Pink....like an Easter Egg. I shall most definitely know her if I see her." He cocked his head, suddenly interested. "Skating? On a pond? But how does one do this on water without something to pull you along? If the way that you do it is sound, then I would not mind trying it out; I do not fear water, unless of course it comes with stormy weather. It pains me so when too much rainfall ruins the paint on my Easter Eggs...."

Thumper smiled and took a hop in the direction towards the pond before turning back to Peter, "I can show you when we get there! And I think you'll like it Peter. It's very..." he paused for a moment trying to remember the word Peter had just used, "Sound. Yes. Very sound."

Peter grinned, showing his little rabbit teeth; something he hadn't done in ages because he had never had cause to smile that big. "Very well then, I shall take your word for it. Oh, forgive my rambling on about the Easter Eggs; I so seldom talk to anyone, I suppose I just got a little carried away." He hopped eagerly on his back feet. "Do lead on, friend Thumper!"

Thumper hopped along towards the lake with a smile. It was nice to play with someone who wasn't bigger than him. "I don't mind Peter," he said as they went along, "Easter Eggs are pretty!"
He led them to the pond which had a nice thick layer of ice from the cold. The ice itself looked clean and glossy, as if it were glass. Thumper jumped onto the ice and slid off, the friction stopping him a few feet in from the shore.

"They are, aren't they?" Peter smiled to himself. He always enjoyed painting Easter Eggs; it didn't bother him that much of his handiwork wnded up in broken pieces strewn all over the ground. Next year found him painting even better designs than before. It had always been that way. Reaching the pond, Peter stopped and watched in awe as Thumper fearlessly leaped onto the ice and slid about. "Seems solid enough..." he muttered to himself as he inched forward and carefully put a paw onto the ice.
