What do you think is gonna happen to Cassel if Brady returns next year?
I feel like Cassel is gonna get drafted as a starter by another team, but is Brady gonna return next season?
What do you guys think?

Yeah lol I doubt they'll start Cassel over Brady.
but I think Cassel will be traded and go to Bills or the 49ers.

He wants to stay in NE, but someone will give him a good deal.

Right now, it seems like Tom Brady is behind in his recovery from the knee injury. Supposedly, it may have gotten infected, and he might need a surgery. That season could keep him out for the 2009 season as well. But nobody knows his status.
Cassel will make a lot of money. He's a free agent come next season. He wants to stay in New England, but he would be behind a healthy Brady on the depth chart. If Brady doesn't play, I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots make him an offer.

I think if tom is still hurt he stays but if not then Detroit should grab him so they dont waste drafts on offense and go for defense

DIRE SWORD WOUND I think if tom is still hurt he stays but if not then Detroit should grab him so they dont waste drafts on offense and go for defense Cassel is becoming a free agent, and free agents get to decide where they want to go, and who they want to sign with. I doubt that he'd want to throw his career down the drain and sign with the Lions, who were 0-16 this season, no matter how much money they offer.

As with the situation with Brett Favre, we'd just have to wait out to see what Cassel and the Patriots do decide. With there being a good chance that Brady won't play, Cassel might take the opportunity to start another season with the Patriots. If he has another successful year then I don't think Brady will be come back for another season with NE. Still, Cassel's other option would be to play second or go with another team with the better deal.

If he does decide to leave then his best bet would probably be the Jets or the 49ers. However somehow i get the feeling he will end up like pennington if he went to the Jets but thats just me...right now it all depends on Brady's condition next season.

Exactly if they put tom brady on detriot they'd be 6 and 10 at best detriots line sucks they need to get some linemen before they reel in a QB

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that the Patriots have already decided that they will use their franchise tag on Cassel, the Boston Globe reports.
Assuming the report is correct, the move would give the Patriots insurance in case Tom Brady's knee injury remains a factor heading into the 2009 season. If it's determined that Brady's health is tip-top, the team could then look into dealing Cassel. Between the two, the Pats would have about $29 million tied up in QB salary, but that's actually a manageable figure (for the one year) and one that would come off the books in time for the team to have cash to spend on next year's potential free agents, several of whom are key franchise cogs.

The Pats I would think would keep him as a secondary, or draft a rookie, because they can't accurately predict the status of Brady next season.

PinkDawg The Pats I would think would keep him as a secondary, or draft a rookie, because they can't accurately predict the status of Brady next season. Things aren't looking too well for Brady. I wouldn't be surprised if he misses next season, because the Patriots want him at the top of his game (health-wise) for the remainder of his career. And New England couldn't ask for a worse time for Cassel to peak, right before his free agency year. So he'll get franchise tagged, which guarantees him a pretty good amount of money soon. Then, the Patriots will either have to sign or trade him.

I think they'll have Brady next year doesn't take too long to heal from surgery. especially with the 4-6 monthes he has AND preseason I think that gives him the time he need's.

Im not so sure with Brady, I read he got another infection and will have surgery again, but not sure if it was an old news and they meant the infection which was already attended. And even with the recovery, its hard to tell if he will have the same level than before, so I agree, Cassel is a blessing for the pats in many ways.
