User Image"Hnh.." Ruul'dolph gave a shake of his head as he awoke, blinking his milk chocolate eyes open blearily. It was morning, at least, that's what he thought.

But wait.. where was he?

The Klipspringer gave a look around, eyes now open normally as they always were, observing his surroundings. It was a little dark still, but with the light that was filtering in from the entrance of the cave, he could plainly see that there was a dirt floor and a few pebbles scattered around, and ragged stone walls lining the area around him. Wait.. the cave! Now he remembered! Mint'e and he had gone and had a little chat while looking around for somewhere to spend the night, and the youngster had found the cave to sleep in.

Oh right. Where was the kid? Giving a look around, slowly this time, he caught sight of a furred green blob.

"Hey, shrimp."

Yes, yes! Fly away magical unicorn Sally, fly! Spread your wings and flee from the baby dragon's mother! You're free Sally, freeeeeeee!

Hey, Shrimp. Oh no! The dragon is following you Sally, flap harder! Run Sally, run! Run away Sally! Yes, make it over the rainbow bridge! Yay, ou made it Sally! But wait- no! Down below is rampage and destruction! Oh how cruel is fate, destroying the land of the pretty unicorns? Whyyyyyyyy?!

Sally, behind you! Don't let her eat you! Sally, noooooooooooo!

"Wah!" Mint'e's emerald green eyes flung open as his head lunged forward, sending him into a tumbling somersault, landing with his legs sprawled and head in the dirt. Raising his head with the alertness of prey being hunted, he quickly checked his surroundings. Rock, dirt, stench. Right, the cave...

And ol' Ruul' was there, standing over him as usual.

"'sup gramps?" He asked, still slightly delirious. Man he had the weirdest dreams.

"Wake u-.." Ruul'dolph simply stared down at the mossy green shaded male for a moment as the younger was still asleep, confused and slightly disturbed at the soft mutterings he had heard... Alright, very disturbed.

Sally? Who was Sally? 'Haven't seen 'im with a Sally girl yet.' He said to himself in his head, it tilting to the side and he with an almost innocently curious look on his face. The mutterings with the word 'free', what were they about? He let out a soft snort through his nose in utter confusion. 'Do I really want t' know?..' And unicorns? Wait..

What the hell was a unicorn?

Putting the thought aside, he grinned at the sight of the younger Klipspringer getting up in a somersault, walking after him and looming over, waiting for him to wake up fully. That was a little entertaining. "Oh, nothing much. Had an odd night with that Sally, hm?" Ruul' said with a slight smirk, righting his head back up to it's normal upright position. "Grab a mouthful of grass outside for a quick breakfast, we're going t' have a little fight. Test those little horns of yours!"

Mint'e blushed intensely when the old Klippy mentioned Sally. Had he been talking in his sleep? Oh no, oh no no no. This was not good. Now that Ruul' knew he dreamed of unicorns and rainbows...

Oh God, he'd never get laid again. Why cruel world? WHYYYYY?

"Shu-shut up." HTe young Klipspringer muttered, pulling himself off the ground. Stupid, stupid dreams. Stupid Sally! Stupid sleep-talking!

"If you tell Taga- wait, what? Fight? You can't be serious, can you?" The young deer looked at the elder with a look of surprise, mouth agape from what he just heard. This was a joke, right? It had to be one of the old man's tricks.

But that last comment...

"My horns are not little." He protested, stomping a hoof on the dirt floor. Stupid old man, accusing him of being small horned. It was insulting! You never insult a Klippy's horns!

"Fine, you're on." He spat, stomping outside to grab his pre-fight breakfast. Dry grass, whoop-dee-doo!

Hehehe! The old man wouldn't shut up! He couldn't! Not just yet.

"Ah hah! So there was a Sally!" Ruul'dolph exclaimed with a hearty laugh, giving a shuffle of his front hooves at the ground below. The reaction from the waking youngster was just priceless, with the rather unusual blushing and muttering. But the way he had woken up? That had been the best thing he'd seen all week. Oh, this was just too good! Unknowingly, his stumped little tail had begun to wag rapidly, the entire scenario bringing the old codger utter delight. "Heh heh heh!"

Slowly regaining his composure, Ruul' then gave a huff at what the younger male had said about the fight, ignoring the part about Taga and telling him what had happened. He didn't believe it? Why, the old man had even gone a-.. Ah. Simply going quiet with a cocky smirk on his maw, Ruul'dolph listened and watched the reaction from Mint'e. This.. was...

Perfect!

Getting into a fight, you were supposed to get a little riled up! The comment about the horns usually did the trick. "That's a good lil' shrimp!" He threw out with a nod of his head, motioning with his muzzle towards the entrance of the cave as the mint colored Klippy started out to fetch his breakfast. Ruul' stood up, the smirk remaining on his face as he followed after Mint'e. "Don't seem that enthusiastic 'bout it now, eh?" He said in jest as he passed the younger male. No breakfast for the older male, as he walked past the younger and towards a slim tree nearby, stopping in front of it and then suddenly..

WHAM!

The red nosed reindeer had rammed his horns at the tree, repeatedly scraping the sharpened ends against the bark. Bits and pieces flew off with each movement and thrust of his forehead, and in a matter of minutes, a well worn bald patch had been made and his horns were nicely sharpened.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 03, 2009 12:45 pm

The mint colored Klippy glared at the chocolate coated elder as he rammed his horns into the tree? Was Ruul' trying to intimidate him? Like that would work! Mint'e gave an audible snort at the thought, completing his breakfast. Stalking over to a rock, he began rubbing his horns against it, feeling the mint colored protrusions sharpening already.

"Stupid old man, teasing me about my dreams." He grumbled, grinding his horns faster at the thought of what the old deer might say. Argh, he was so angry at the old man! It wasn't his fault his dreams were wonky!

Finishing his sharpening, he lifted his small head, the new morning sun gleaming off his horns. He whipped his body around to face the old Klipspringer, a sneer splitting his maw. "You sure your antlers aren't to fragile for this, old man?"

Letting out an equally audible snort at the sound of the younger's own, the Klipspringer brought his head back, stepping away from the tree and giving a fling of his two horns, scraping off one last patch of bark as he moved away. Giving a glance at his own horns, Ruul'dolph let out an annoyed grunt as he caught sight of a piece of the umber tree back speared midway through one of his outgrowths. He gave a flick of his head, hoping that the piece would fly off.. Nope. "Rrgh, stupid lil' thing.." His voice trailed off as he went to grinding the horn against the bald spotted tree once more, finally snapping the piece on half.

"Hah!" Ruul' said with a slight grin, giving himself a shake as he walked away from the tree and towards Mint'e. 'Hmph. Look'it this young'un, thinking his horns can put up a fight.. This'll be fun. His against my own. Bah! I've been 'n many a battle in my day.' A let an assertive smirk at the sight of the other Klippy's sneer, then spoke. "Don't worry 'bout me, kiddo."

Ruul'dolph then gave a stomp of his front hoof at the ground below, puffing out his furred chest slightly. "Fight me, kid. Now!'

"Tch." The green Klippy scraped a hoof across the dirt, glaring at the brown one in front of him. He was so confident that he would win. Ha! Like Mint'e would actually allow the old geezer to win after the comments he had spewed out earlier. This old man was going down.

"Don't have a hear attack." He sneered with a grunt, lowering his head as he prepared to charge. With a deep inward breath, he kicked off the dirt, rushing madly at the elder Klipspringer with his eyes wide open, letting out a furious bleat as he approached his opponent. As he got to be a foot away, he sped up, lowering his head further. Tension built up in his muscles, bracing him for the upcoming collision of green on tan.

And the fighting began! "Hmph!" The old Klipspringer huffed, lowering his own head to catch his pupil's horns in his own, bracing himself for the arriving hit, muttering under his breath with a scowl. "Heart attack my arse." Watching as Mint'e charged towards him, Ruul'dolph let out a snort, planting his hooves down firmly into the ground.

He'd make sure the kid would remember this, no matter what.

Their spiked horns giving a loud 'Clack!' as they made contact with each other, Ruul' let out a rough grunt, a sort growl being uttered by the old Klippy as he was pushed back by the blow. "Hah! Bring it, young'un." Giving a swing of his head away from Mint'e, he then turned, locking their slim horns together and letting out a snort, nostrils flaring. Swinging his head, he attempted to shove the moving green furred blob so his side was facing Ruul'dolph. Would he managed to get Mint'e in the right position?

Instinct told Mint'e to parry the next blow, and so he did, knocking the cream horns away from him. No way was he going to get pushed into a vulnerable position! Quickly, before Ruul' could retaliate from his parry, the green Klipspringer locked his horns with the elder again, glaring into his eyes.

"Heh, who's got little horns now? He grunted, struggling to keep hold of the creamy horns. He tensed up his back legs, pulling his horns from the lock and thrusting them back in. He was goign to try flipping Ruul' over. If he did, this fight would be done quickly and Mint'e would prove himself to the old man. Small horns!

Alrighty then, time to rumble!

Stepping back a hoof step or two from the blow knocked away, the Klipspringer held himself solid for the upcoming clashing of horns. Rattling his pair of cream horns against the younger one's own pair of green ones, a wide smirk appearing over his maw and a breathy chuckle released at the glare he received from Mint'e.

“'Y'know, 's not the size of the dog, 's the fight tha' matters.” Ruul'dolph jeered with a stomp of a hind hoof, bracing himself for the blow from his opponent.

Oh, a miss? He hadn't expected that! Whipping his head back and forth against the other set of horns, he brought his head back, unlocking the horns from each other before passing his maw by one of the younger Klippy's ears. He gave an aggressive snap of his teeth before swinging his head forward, hoping to give the youngster a good knock in the shoulder with the smooth fronts of his horns, not wanting to cause any actual spearing or gorging.

That wouldn't have ended up pretty, now, would it?

Inspiring words, eh? What was this, some kind of cheesy scene from a fairy tale where the antagonist gives advice to the protagonist while in their first epic fight? Ha, what a weird imagination he had.

A swing, duck! He screamed to himself, quickly bending his knees and bowing his head to avoid the horns of the older Klippy. After he missed, Mint'e quickly raised his head back up, pushing forward to go into another deadlock with his mentor.

"You know, this is like some kind of epic cliche', mentor versus student. But then again, in most fairy tales, the student gets his butt kicked. Not in this story old man." The green Klippy smirked, putting more drive into his horns. If he could just give the old man a good knock on the head!

Letting out a huff at the missed swing at Mint'e, Ruul'dolph brought his head back up, the younger Klipspringer's horns locking into his own at the movement. Rattling his horns against the Klippy's, he let a smirk come over his face at what his pupil had said. "Of.." He said, starting his sentence, bracing himself for the youngster's movements, then continuing to talk, "..course 's like that! The world just works like that!"

Oh, ho, ho! So, Mint'e was going to try to get him?...

DEEEENIED!

Letting out a throaty groan at the unexpected force from the kid, Ruul' pushed back, trying to balance out the attack. Shoving back roughly, the old codger shook his head violently at the locked horns.

Maybe a good whack in the face would do the young'un some good!

The world works like that, huh? So it was always a constant struggle of mentor and student until the student surpassed his mentor and gained a student of his own, and then the cycle would begin anew? Was this the true circle of life? A constant struggle of ranks?

Bah, who cares! Deep sentimental crap wasn't his style, and neither was spacing out in battles. The old Klippy had once again managed to repel one of Minte's attacks, stuck in a deadlock again. The chocolate elder had moved to try and hit him in the side, the green Klipspringer quickly freeing himself to back up with a hop. Haha, missed again.

"Tch. You're too easy to predict old man." Mint'e snorted, giving a sudden bleat as he charged forward, antlers gleaming in the African sun. Dirt flurried up behind him as he charged, head lowering to meet his opponent's head.

Maybe this was the feeling of prey versus predator that Ruul' was always talking about...

"Too easy? Hah! Look'it you!" Ruul'dolph stated with a laugh, giving a shake of his head as Mint'e freed himself from the old Klipspringer's lock and moved away. "Hrmph!" Nearly stumbling at the sudden movement from his little pupil, he caught himself, straightening his front legs out before the previously aimed face plant at the ground was made. "Eh?"

Uh oh! Old Ruul' was in for some trouble.

Giving a bleat of surprise at the next attack from Mint'e as their heads and horns clashed together, he stumbled backwards, loosing his footing from the unexpected blow from his front and landing on his back with a loud thump. Well now, that actually hurt! A litt-.. a lot. Letting out a sharp snort through his nostrils, the codger brought himself back up, glaring at the younger Klippy. "Try again!" He barked out snappily, giving a swing of his head and huffing before he shoved himself forward, horns aimed at Mint'e for a more aggressive attack.

Old Ruul'dolph couldn't loose the fight just yet now... could he?
