The first stage of every animal is a drum. Males always are flat snare-style drums with a primitive drumstick (sometimes two). Females are always a taller drum with an hour-glass like silhouette called a djembe (big) or doumbek (smaller) and is played with your hands. There may, at some later time, be other types of drums, like bass or congos... But that will be MUCH later.

At this stage, the animal has JUST been born. Chances are it can't even move far enough to respond to the drum... But if you call it anyways, it will listen and come as soon as it is able.
The second stage is that of an infant. It's barely aware of it's surroundings, and needs alot of time and care. It sleeps most of the day, and eats the rest of the time.
The third is a juvenile. Your animal is starting to grow into it's skin now, and is sleeping alot less but still needs it's Shaman close by. It plays around alot, and can talk enough to hold lengthy conversations... But is still slightly lacking in the vocabulary department. It's eager to learn everything about the world.
The fourth stage is the adult stage. A fully capeable adult can hunt, talk, and seperate from it's Shaman for long periods of time. It now has the requirement that it must bring information to it's kin on the Firstday. (The Full Moon.) Even though it's a Bound animal, it is still a wild creature and should be treated with respect.
