Finally, it was nighttime.

Temptation had, as always, spent his day with his brother. They had found a hilarious mare who danced and twirled with the flowers as if they were alive. She spoke of ideals what were hideous and fairy-tale like. He was the decoy and he listened and laughed to her stupid words, and used his usual charm to sway her. And before she could seriously fall for him, Damnation came in to destroy the flowers and everything the mare loved. It was seriously hilarious, and as she ran off many minutes later in tears, Temptation and his brother laughed and smiled in their own sort of glee.

So to put it bluntly, the day had been a success. He and his brother were good at what they did, and with some days they were violent and harsh, while others why were just emotionally straining. It was hard to be violent with winter gusts at their skin, so in recent days the two Kalonas were rather low-key in their renegades. Temptation was glad when nighttime approached for he and his brother, and the two decided to split up as they always did and go their separate ways. And now, Temptation was off wandering on his own while following random scents along the air.

The night chill was awful, and he tugged his wings close as his facial expression demanded a warmer feeling. He could obviously handle these sorts of conditions, but like a child he hated them. He loved summer nights where he could ravage and destroy until the sun came up again without even being tired or drained. And now, it had barely been dark for an hour and he was already sick of the outside conditions. This 'frozen' feeling was not something he enjoyed. It always felt like the earth around him was dying and gasping for it's own breaths.

So, with a growl, he trailed on not really sure of where he was going, but happy to be moving his limbs and body all the same time.

She was completely at ease in the dark of night, seeming to melt from shadow to inky shadow, terrifyingly fluid. Her coat was liberally splashed with crimson--she had already fed this night, and blood was matting her thick, luxurious fur. Unlike some, with their thin, useless coats, she was rarely troubled by the cold--instead, she found the heat of summer far more difficult to cope with.

Idly, she played with a small shard of bone, worrying at it in her narrow mouth as she listened to the night, still save for the occasional flick of her wispy tail, the ends of it seeming to dissipate as they moved through the air, before coalescing once again when she allowed it to lay still.

Ears perking forward, she listened with interest at the approach of the kalona, nearly invisible, save for her glowing red eyes (all of them). Moving closer, she kept most of her eyes focused on the ground before her, careful to step around anything that might give away her presence before she wished to make herself known. Usually, she would just move on her way--after all, he was of a size that would be impractical to take down on her own...however, with her belly full, she was willing to indulge in a little curiosity.

Deliberately, she crept forward, allowing the red of her many eyes to flash merrily through the darkness, much like the winking of fireflies, only more ominous. Then, with a sharp, canine-sounding yip, she drifted back into the shadows, curious as to just how solid this one's nerves were. Her lower legs, like her tail, seemed to alternately fade and solidify, long silken strands of shadow seeming to have a mind of their own.

His own lackings in keenness would certainly be his demise one day. So who knew if this night was that circumstance? Either way, with strong hooves forward he marched along without even considering the fact that he could have been watched. If anything, Temptation felt as thought being watched would have been a good thing anyway, since that meant some sort of attention. If he could get attention he could get praised for what he was. And if he could get praised, he would most definitely feel content and happy. And that thought process was one reason why his brain was malfunctioned compared to others...

Though, it wasn't until he heard a strange yip when he actually realized that he probably wasn't the only one in the area. He halted himself and stared from side to side, allowing his huge eyes to get a taste of the darkness. Many moments passed in silence, but then finally he saw something he had seen in his own family. Red glowing eyes. But, they weren't eyes that he could relate to. His back stiffened up a bit, and he stared forward while trying to think of a plan.

But, without thinking enough, he finally spoke out. "Tsk tsk, you should never watch someone so carefully without asking. Unless you are one of my stalkers or something." A usual growl left his mouth as he finished his words, and he grinned and revealed all of the teeth he did carry. "Red eyes vs. yellow eyes... how appropriate that we blend in so easily and yet have eyes that give everything away..." He was a being big talker since he couldn't see anything. But he could sense what was in front of him, and a nerve in his brain made him act careful. The red eyes came from a creature who deserved them, unlike he who only carried what his parents gave him. "So, why not show me who you really are?" he then said, while firming his stance a lot.

She sniffed the air a moment, double-checking that the one before her was alone. Satisfied, she stepped out into the open, curling her upper lip back ever-so-slightly in a snarly sort of grin. Halting just out of striking range, she finally spoke.

"Satisfied?" Her voice was pitched low, the question ending in a growl of her own. She didn't have to resort to provocative words--her attitude spoke volumes. She respected very little, and feared even less.

Head held high, the eyes on her legs, which glowed far less impressively than the two on her head, all looked up at him expectantly, winking in and out of sight as they blinked.

Oh what had he done.

The mare was more terrible and gruesome looking than he could ever imagine. He had seen some scary Kalona in his life, but this mare had much different features that helped her radiate the prospect of fear. Temptation may have been somewhat scary looking himself, but he certainly didn't have the brains to go with the body. When push came to shove, this mare had the brains to fit in with her everything.

"You could say that." he finally said, while mustering the courage to speak. He found himself entranced by the multiple eyes that stared towards him. He could sense them all judging him, picking at his insecurities, calling him out for his lies... Oh this mare had it all. Her fangs brightly gleamed against the darkness around them, and her fur had the stench of death like he couldn't believe. She had done her deeds, one by one against the many Soquili she had chosen.

"What are you?" he then managed to ask, while lowering his neck to examine her. It was like nothing he had ever seen before. He couldn't believe this experience was real...

She could clearly read his confusion, and perhaps, she thought, she could detect burgeoning horror. Smiling more widely, her teeth gleamed dully, each one a sharp, dangerous weapon.

It was an interesting question, that he'd asked...one she wasn't sure, exactly, how to go about answering. "I am....myself, I suppose." she chuckled, the sound slightly raspy, as if it weren't one her vocal cords were used to making. "I've never met another like me, at any rate."

In the distance, a mother bear roared, the sound drawing out mournfully--she'd left her cubs unattended, and she'd only just found the remains of the one the Cu Sith had gorged on. She hadn't even been wasteful, leaving the other alive, in the tree that it had climbed in its initial flight of terror. She preferred to stick to prey smaller and weaker than herself, where possible--after all, becoming injured would make consecutive hunts more difficult.

As if to prove that they were not just aimlessly staring any which direction, one of the eyes on her foreleg winked, deliberately, up at the red-and-black stallion, before blinking out of existance, only to reappear again a few inches farther up the same foreleg.

It was her eyes he couldn't get over, and he was SURE she could see that. He watched as each one would blink with it's own sense of movement and life. With the abundance of vision she had, he was sure she could read every single emotion on his body. That in itself was a chilling thought.

"And what does a unique one like you call yourself?" He tried to keep his voice stern, and as the seconds went on, he felt himself finding the usual confidence he had in front of any monster. Hell, he'd stood up against his father, so how could he not handle a scary mare like this?! "I'd be honored to inquire your name." A slight growl left his mouth as he watched her some more, and he adjusted his footing in a more relaxed state.

It was apparent that she had enjoyed herself before he had arrived. He too could sense the pain that lingered in the air, and the enjoyment that glistened in the mare's eyes. "I hope I didn't interrupt a meal of yours." he then said, while glancing around the both of them. "But from the look of things, it seems as though the job was completed already, and your stomach is very satisfied." Damn, he was jealous.

She let silence fall between them a moment, staring at him pointedly, before responding. "I am Cu Sith." She smiled, a slight flash of teeth, as she said it. She did not ask his name-whether it was because she didn't care what she called him, or that she didn't even think to inquire, was not readily apparent.

His scent, so delightfully uneasy, slowly changed, as he seemed to find his confidence. A pity, that--there was an intangible, indescribeably pleasant smell to fear, or even to a wary sort of caution. The red eyes on her legs' attention drifted, taking in the surrounding plantlife, one of them clearly following the movements of a large cricket that had emerged, hopping awkwardly between the two soquili.

"I have eaten my fill," she commented, only the faint glow of pleasure in her gaze reflecting any sort of emotional reaction to the statement. She didn't kill for sport--at least, not often...but she wasn't ashamed of the fact that she enjoyed the sensation of bone and flesh giving way beneath her sharp teeth and hooves, or the smell of a fresh kill.

There were a few ways that Temptation could have made this predicament more interesting. So far, he had learned very little about the mare in front of him. But from the sounds of things, she wasn't going to harm him without a good reason. He could have easily given her a good reason, but he wasn't that idiotic.

Think Temptation, think. Although this mare was somewhat monstrous, she was still a mare. That left many possibilities open, and Temptation was a fool for always entertaining himself...

If he could sway her with his words somehow, then he truly would be proclaiming himself as better than most stallions. He knew he was suave, very good looking, and tough to the eye, so maybe that sort of thing could work here? It was a crazy idea indeed, but if Temptation left this opportunity to nothing, well, then he really would be an idiot.

"Well, it is an honor to meet you, Cu Sith. A mare as fine as yourself is graced with quite a name." He then rolled his eyes and smiled rather generously at her. He lowered his wings and put all guards and worries down for the moment. There were other things to focus on, and he wanted the mood to shift a bit.

"As a stallion, I am overwhelmed by the sheer excellence and beauty that you carry. I'll admit, I like to consider my tastes more refined, since I find your strength and uniqueness to be the most lovely feature there is. Your incredibly attractive, Cu. Though, I assume all stallions say that sort of thing to you these days." His voice held no lie, and his eyes were focused on her completely. "I only wonder if other stallions give you the satisfaction you deserve, since I find you to be a jewel amongst the rest."

In all truth, he really wasn't lying. The finest of mares were those that could hold their own and survive amongst any condition. Cu Sith was quite a catch, and he had to be careful if he was going to make it out of the situation alive. But, he was intrigued, and he wanted to know more about such a creature.
