The shelves were filled to the brim with the scent of dust and paper. It was refreshing, in a sense, as the distinct smell caught Jacques' attention. He had never seen anything like the mountains of books sheltered by their casings, nor had he ever seen the glowing contraption so many people seemed infatuated with - including his majesty.
Lowell had taken to the computer after giving Jacques a pat on the head, telling him to keep put while he read up on something in particular. Jacques hadn't quite understood the matter, but, as a member of the royal guard, it was not his duty to ask questions of his majesty. Thus he stood alert, his tail twitching now and again as he hummed and occasionally sought a peek at the computer screen to see what his master was so preoccupied with.
The matter was boring for the adventurous mind, nevertheless - and for as composed as he was, he was not utterly immune to mischief. Jacques had decided to scout the area for a potential threat. After all, as a member of the royal guard, that was his duty, was it not? He had grinned at his clever thought, smiling upward at Lowell with his beady little eyes. The two had exchanged a brief glance, and like that Jacques was off into the great unknowns of the library. His nose had wriggled as he scampered into the all too colorful children's section, peering curiously at the toys and nonsense that appeared to be going on. It was all quite fascinating to the young mind.
"Cool..." He had whispered as his ears perked. Stumbling a few steps, he had entered the area. His back had straightened, and a stern smile had crossed his face as he swished his cape. Observation time!

Morgan was far to busy desperately attempting to find a funny little red and white man named Waldo to pay much attention to anything. The boy was unable to read yet but he understood the concept of this book and was determined to find Waldo before His father grew bored of this library place and made them go home.
Skylar seemingly intent on destroying the carefully ordered books was pulling random one off the shelf and placing them back where ever it looked like there was an opening. Mostly he was just mimicking the motions of others having no real interest in a book himself. They were only fun if somebody was reading to him.
Several feet outside of the children's area, was Phillip Rosenwald who sat in a chair and thumbed through several photocopies version of old newspaper clipping the library had. He needed them in order to do research for a new assignment. Unable to take even the photocopies home with him the man was stuck for a a while there and figured he might as well let the children play with others and possibly books while he worked.

There were peculiar children of all shapes and sizes running about the youth section. Some were tall, some were small, some looked mean, some looked tame - it was a cycle of rather interesting characters, like a town, and this enthralled Jacques to no end.
Though he had justified his escape as per a mission, there was little doubt within his sheltered subconscious: he wanted to mingle. He took his skittering steps, his nose twitching now and again as he passed child after child, until two particular ones had caught his interest for some reason. He had paused to gape at them - one seemingly buried within a book, and another seemingly contented with generating a mess. Or was he looking for something?
"Hey!" He had called out, his voice thin and squeakish. His little feet had pattered along as he neared the two, leaning over to see what it was Skylar was doing. "Are you looking for something?"

Skylar looked up at the question then at the book in his hand which featured a large red dog on the front. He shook his head and shoved it back exactly where it had come from. " No I can't read." Instantly the boy's bluish grey eyes were drawn to the stranger's tail, so far his favorite people he's ever met had had tails and this one even looked furry like his own which was probably a good sign.
With a smile Skylar stood and copied the other boy's posture." I'm Skylar." He introduced himself.
" His hat's blue" Morgan said not looking up from his very important quest of finding the elusive Waldo. " My hat's green." It was important, the hat colours, slowly Morgan had learned that's how people knew who they were. Why they needed hats for this still puzzled Morgan.

Morgan's quizzical statement had caused Jacques' shoulders to sink. He had stared at the two for a long moment, his tail swishing back and forth with curiosity. They looked funny, but that hadn't stopped him from anything ever before - and the significance of their hats, he supposed, was doubly worth the notation.
Blue. Green. Skylar was the blue - but who was the green? His tail had ceased its swishing as he gave a smile. "I can't read too." He said as if it were a proud statement of kinship - then he had given a polite bow. "I'm ... Jacques." He had taken some time to say his own name, the sound slipping somewhat awkwardly at first, as if he were not quite used to it.
"And you?" He had peeked at Morgan. "Green?"

Skylar's tail also stopped when Jacques didn't though it curled forward to lay over his left foot leaving the foot warm as heat sank through the shoe onto it. " That's Morgan" he supplied helpfully at the boy's question, partially turning his head to look over in his brother's direction " He lost Waldo." Skylar didn't really understand how that had happened only that his brother was now supposed to find Waldo according to what his uncle had told him before he'd left to go read. Skylar had been supposed to help but all the looking made his eyes go blurry and he didn't really care about Waldo.
Skylar was for the most part bored, confined to the children's book area and surrounded by things he couldn't read. At least sometimes interesting looking people would walk past or come in like now with Jacques and the young boy could watch them or talk to them.
Finally looking up Morgan nodded at Skylar's statement " I"m Morgan and I need to find Waldo." The small boy held up the book filled with a great deal of red and white making finding the man in question difficult. " You can help" he offered. Not that he'd admit it but Morgan had been a little bothered that Skylar hadn't wanted to help him. This was an adventure finding Waldo hidden by all this other stuff. like playing hiding at home only with a book.

"Morgan. Skylar." Jacques had repeated; his ears had flickered each time as if he were mentally processing something about the two funny youth. He had hummed lightly at the news - a lost Waldo. What was a Waldo? Why, he supposed it was a person - and it must have been an important person to warrant a vigorous search within a book.
"Lost Waldo?" Jacques' tail had flipped up, ceasing motion as he took a few steps more to look at the book Morgan held. "Is this Waldo very important? What does he look like?" It seemed mysterious that one would need to hunt for someone in a book.
He had looked back towards Skylar after a moment, his dark eyes blinking. "When as the last time you saw Waldo?"

Morgan turned the book to show Jacques the front " That's Waldo, I dunno why I have to find him, Dad said to so I am. He gets lost in the pages and you have to find him and then on the next page he's lost again. " Morgan looked thoughtful " He's very good at getting lost."
Highly uninterested in Waldo, Skylar returned to rearranging the books on the shelf at random. It was fun to hear them slide in and out and maybe like on that Tv show something cool would happen if he pulled out the right one.

Jacques' small ears had twitched for a moment. His tiny face had seemed to stretch as he stared at the picture of Waldo and listened to the story. A man who needed to be found for an unknown reason, and who managed to get lost on every page of the book. That seemed like madness, and he could only suspect that Waldo did not want to be found.
"He must have done something very bad." His tail had sank as he squinted towards the book. "But how did he get into it? How do you look for him? I don't think you can walk into a book."
He had never tried before, but it seemed as if it would be an impossibility. Hesitating a moment, he had looked back at Skylar, wondering why he had not joined the search.

' I dunno how he got there" Morgan admitted but tapped the page he was looking at " You just have to find him in the crowd."Which was of course not easily with all the similarly coloured objects spread out over the page. Morgan had never considered if waldo had something bad and that was why you had to find him, it was an interesting thought.

It seemed less than exciting that one might have to find a man within a crowd without justification. How did Waldo get into the book? Why was he hiding within the crowd? Jacques was an imaginative young boy, and his imagination ran wild with the sheer ideology of it all. He was convinced that Waldo had something to hide, and he was convinced of some great conspiracy.
He had gasped all of the sudden, covering his mouth. A jolted thought had run throughout him. What if Lowell were in danger, and this Waldo were part of a scheme? Oh, it seemed a delicious opportunity to prove his worth! His tail had twitched as he had peered into the book. "What if this Waldo is a decoy, and the real one is hiding in the library?" He had suggested, his eyes aglow with wondered thought.

Morgan's eyes gleamed at the idea of searching the library for the real waldo. Sure it was cool that he'd had a keen enough eye to spot an impostor on the pages but this, this was even better. Adventure and mysteries were very interesting to the young Nu Mou. Morgan was the type to want to discover everything he could about the world, he was just naturally curious. " I hope the imposter is trapped in the book, but we should try and find the real one quick so there's not two"
He snapped the book closed, just to make sure the decoy didn't escape. Than hopped to his feet and scurries towards the edge of the children's area " shh , we have to be quiet or we'll get caught." His new friend might have been allowed to wander the library at large but Morgan knew he was supposed to stay put. then again his father hadn't known there was a strange man maybe hiding in the library when he'd told him that so Morgan supposed it didn't matter.
Skylar dropped the book he'd been holding and followed silently after his twin. This was much better than a book and if he got bored again the boy could always wander off, for now though he didn't want to be left behind.

To hear it reiterated only made the issue seem more sincere. It was settled. Waldo was a bad man, and he needed to be found! Jacques was delighted. The fibers of his brain had pulsated with the new found fixation; to make the matter more interesting, he had a comrade. Two comrades, it seemed - and one who seemed particularly clever in his suggestions.
They had to be quiet, or else they'd get caught. Or Waldo would find them. "Right!" He had blurted out, covering his mouth before settling down. His shoulders had sank as he hurried along after Morgan, slipping to the edge of the children's area to peer out. "Where does Waldo like to hide? With lots of people?" He had lowered his voice, tilting his head like a curious animal.
Jacques had turned from the twins for a moment, leaning far out of the children's section to look.

Morgan nodded and whispered " He thinks we can't spot him in a crowd, but we can." Morgan had found the imposter in a book, surely he could spot the real Waldo out here.
Skylar tapped Jaques on the shoulder and pointed silently to where a sign hanging from the ceiling said ' computer lab'. That's where everyone had been when they'd come in. If the bad man like crowds it was probably the best place to find him.

Jacques had jumped at the feeling of pressure applied to his shoulder. His tail had sank somewhat as he turned his head, wide-eyed and wriggling until he had noticed Skylar was pointing to something. The computer lab? Oh! Of course!
A feeling of worry overcame him. What if Waldo really was a bad man in the room with the funny glowing screens? Lowell! He needed to make certain, and it sounded a logical place to start.
"That's a good idea!" He had coughed out, and with a wide smile, he had thrust his arm, scamper across the floor as any rodent might do, his cape floundering until he had slipped through the door. His head had poked back as he made a motion for Skylar and Morgan to join him.
