User ImageAh, the beach.

Pyre gave a flick of her fiery tail, a smile of delight coming over her face as she brushed it against the sand below her. It didn't burn!~ Nothing burned at the ocean side, and that was what the fire incarnate liked the most about it. The sand, shells, rock fragments, the salt water... It was all safe from her touch. A dangerous incident like the one in her previous homeland wouldn't occur around here as long as she was careful around the small patches of wind whipped grass, but..

Oh, she couldn't help but to be a little carefree! "Oh, this is so nice!" The mare gave a light giggle, sitting up and onto her feet and giving a quick shake, sending small bits of sand back onto the ground from her soot covered fur. Her flaming mane and tail gave sudden spits and crackles as a few of the bits went through, but were quickly tamed by a wispy breeze passing through the sea shore. Quick on her feet, Pyre gave a flick of her head before starting down the small dune, galloping for a moment before slowing to a steady trot.

'Ah, if only I had someone to play around with. Duskai and the others are all out and about, though..' She told herself with another sigh, this time one of a more sullen tone. Running around like this reminded her of the time before when she was a filly, going back and forth between her human caretakers and having a wonderful time. But.. Well, that was the past. Done and over with. "It would still be nice, having someone around, si?" She asked herself outloud in a quiet voice, coming to a slow halt in her steps and giving a delayed look around.

Why had his mom made him come here of all places?

Fenuk’s eyes danced along the beach and a feeling of shame washed over him. He had set fire to something earlier that week and ‘Naci, his mother, was at her wits end trying to make him do just the exact opposite of that. Whenever he was angry or truly afraid his blue flames would turn hot and burn. It’s not like he had actually wanted to burn down their teepee… again. Their two-legger Aely was good natured about the whole mess although he did see the tears were starting to build in her eyes at the knowledge that she was going to have to replace her home again.

Lost in his own thought he did not see the other flames flickering on the beach, didn’t notice the mare that was dancing about gracefully, and didn’t really realize that she had a mane and tail of fire as well. Wait… what? As far as he had ever seen his mother and him were the only fire-bearers. A spark of interest shot through him and before he could even think about what he was doing Fenuk took off in a hard gallop, sand flying beneath his feet. Was he dreaming this mare up or was she real? He had to know, he had to know the truth of the whole thing.

“You there! Oi! Are ye real?“ What a truly daft question, was she real? His breathing was getting more ragged but he was coming up on her quickly. With a quick turn and decision Fenuk dug his hooves into the sand and sent it flying all over the place, his block body had gathered a very light sheen from his sprint and he felt pretty good. “M’name‘s Fenuk, I assure ye I’m nae daft… Jest a bit on the confused side.“ He grinned and bobbed his head to finish his greeting. She was a respectable distance away… he hoped she’d come a bit closer or else they’d be having a shouting match.

"Oh?" Ears perking up at the sound of the familiar sound of hooves thumping against the ground, Pyre gave a turn of her head to and fro, looking around for the noise creator. Catching sight of a blob of a figure moving towards her, she put on a slight grin. So her suspicions were right, there was someone around! 'Well, well, well!' She thought to herself, an elated feeling overcoming her as she watched the form move. A new friend, possibly~ The colors were starting to appear on the other Soquili, her golden eyes viewing an ebony like her own and a delightful shade of blue where the mane and tail were. Letting her head tilt to the side slightly as the other neared, her eyes widened a bit with quite the skeptical feeling rising.

This was.. definitely not the normal meeting with another Soquili. She couldn't help but let her mouth form into a small 'O' as the horse neared, watching as the flickering flames taking place of his mane and tail appeared visibly. '..He... He..' He had flames like her! But what caught her attention the most was how similar the both of them looked. They both had that dark colored coat, flames dancing about, and golden hooves. But those eyes of his! They were the same shade as her, same color. Pyre let out a held in giggle of excitement, staying in her place.

Oh, this would be interesting.

At the sound of the question about her existence, she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh at what had been said. 'Are ye real?' Why, of course she was real! Wasn't he? This was the perfect time for her to try out her English without throwing in any of the regularly used Spanish!.. Alright, maybe a little bit would pop in, but she wouldn't pay attention to it. There was someone new to meet!

"Yes, I'm real! You?" She chirped out, nodding her head in his direction in acknowledgment. Eying the male as he finally stopped in his tracks, she gave a blink at the sight of the flurry of sand, giving a shake of her head before she started off towards him in a gallop, a small wave of sand being flung behind her. The usual polite smile forming across her muzzle as she approached him, Pyre slowed to a walk, moving around him while catching her breath before stopping in front of him. Finally greeting him properly, she gave a nod of her head, a small laugh coming out of her at the mention of him being confused. "I'm.. equally confused. I mean, you have flames like me! I've never bumped into anyone else like us before."

Things were definitely off to a most promising start… she had not tried to run away screaming from him and if he guessed correctly she even seemed interested in having a bit of a chat. Things were going his way today. For now at least… heh. Fenuk couldn’t help but take a minute to look her over, not in an inappropriate way.. Well, at least he didn’t think that it was in an inappropriate way to see the similarities that were before him. If her flames were of a blue color he’d swear that they were siblings. Good thing they weren’t though? He already had two obnoxious-- “darling” siblings of his own. Giving a simple smile, Fen put those thoughts to the side. As much as he loved his family there were more important things to think about at this point and time…

Their eyes matched, their hooves matched, their hair probably did the same things with anger and temper, and well.. His anklet was rather similar to her markings. His had been a gift from his mother when he had come of age, a passing down of jewelry to mark the flame-having ones. It was probably her just trying to make him feel less bitter about his lack of wings… Bah! Perhaps she would have some knowledge of how the fire-haired ones had come to be. His mother had no idea, and he had somewhat of a clue where his fire came from, but that was a different talk.

In fact, that was the birds and the bees talk. Oi.

He’d have to try to control his accent a bit, some did not follow the thick brogue of his or his mum’s. Although he’d gotten quite good at using clear English, but it just did not always seem to fit his tongue comfortably. “Aye, as real as any others that yer likely ter be meetin’” That was the honest to god truth, but seemed a bit redundant on both parts. Of course they were real, or both of them were just a bit insane.

“I only know one other tha’ has the same sort o’ mane’n’tail as me… Save fer ye. That’d be me mum.” Hooves lifting tentatively, Fenuk raised his nose up and lipped at her mane. It felt the same as his, as far as he could recollect. He turned a bit and offered her the same freedom since he had not asked before touching. It was so common for him to run into other Soquilis and for them to want to feel the flames that he figured it was his turn to touch and be amazed. He hoped she wouldn’t light his nose on fire… “M’name’s Fenuk, yers?“ Perhaps he’d found someone else that would understand the hell of never being allowed to have a temper, of never being allowed to lose all control without hurting others in the process. When he thought about it sometimes he wished he had not been given this great “gift” it was too much work!

"Ah, that's good then. It would be a shame to have met someone like myself, then have them go off and disappear suddenly." The mare laughed softly at the thought. Heh.. Her friends might see her as a crazy one if they happened upon her talking to nothing. Finally coming to realize the accent the other held, Pyre gave out a soft nicker. It was interesting, having another with a different tune to their voice like her own with all of the usual Soquili around. At the mention of how he obtained his fire, she couldn't help but be a little interested. The way the Mexican mare had gotten her own mane and tail was much different than his, and definitely under odder and a more dreadful state of circumstances.

"Oh, so you got your flames from your madre?" Pyre said with curiosity painted over her voice, not bothering to attempt to cover up her little slip of Spanish. But then, a bewildered look overcame her face as he came up closer to her. Being the first time meeting someone with a flaming mane and tail, let alone someone as similar looking as herself had that effect.

What.. Uh.. W-was she doing the right thing? The right motions and everything?... She most certainly didn't want to offend him or anything of the sort.

Wiping the look off her face and putting on a smile, she gave an outstretch of her neck, reaching out to feel at his blue flames. Nosing lightly at his mane with a foal's curiosity, Pyre relaxed as she did, not wanting to cause any harm to the other equine with her own flames. Hurting someone at a first meeting never left a good impression. "Fenuk?.." Saying his name out loud, more to herself than anything else, she then brought her head back slightly and beamed. "It's a pleasure to meet someone like myself, finally! I'm Pyre."

Letting her curiousness come out, the fire maned female gave a slant of her head to the side as she looked at him. "Do you have trouble, you know, keeping control of your fire, Fenuk? I know I do sometimes, with there being unexpected things around all the time." Dimming down her blaze of a mane a bit until it grew to an easily controllable size, not wanting to risk burning down another land like her old home. After the question, Pyre gave a scuff at the ground with a front hoof softly, a light blush popping up over her cheeks, though very dim with her dark coat. "By the way, what were you doing around here before we came upon each other? Out for a stroll or something?"

Fenuk figured that he was probably just as dense as the mare because it had taken him quite a bit to hear the spicy hint on her voice. She was something else, he would give that. Perhaps she had gotten her fire because of where she was from, he'd have to question Aely and his mother some more. Both of them said that other flame-hairs probably existed around the world, just not on the Soquili lands. His herd-mates, Harij and Baldev, came from a strange place that they would not talk about. Perhaps she was from there? He was beginning to get a bit over excited and Fenuk made himself calm down, his mane had begun to get hot and tingly from his thinking. Not that it would have burnt...

Some days it literally just sucked to have fire for mane and tail. When he was excited his hair tingled. What in the hell was up with that? "Aye, Me mam has a giant mess o' blue flames about her. Because 'm only half fire mine came in smaller I think." That was the theory he had been able to come up with, he also had his father's marking of the eye on his chest.

Pyre, eh? Wasn't that a type of fire related thingy? Ahhh, Fenuk... He knew that with how scientific he was he really ought to be a scientist or some such... "Fire-related-thingy.." He mumbled those words deep under his breath then grinned.

When he had gotten done feeling up her mane, Fenuk had backed off and just let her test his out. "I'm glad ter be meetin' ye as well, missy." Ooops, some mares got mad when he called them missy. It was not done out of disrespect it just sometimes rolled out of his mouth before his brain had a chance to stop it. "Er.. I mean Pyre. Please jest call me Fen, eh? Me family's name is Egyptian... Hence Fenuk... but I've always thought the name was too big fer th' likes o' me. I prefer ter keep it nice an' simple. Jest Fen."

"Small's not so bad. You have your Madre’s fire coloring now, hm?" Pyre said with a smile of good-nature coming out as she gave a light flick of her muzzle at the moving blaze that was his mane. Taking a step back from him, she gave a last look at his mane and tail before letting out a breath. Hearing Fenuk mutter something faintly about fire.. or something, she gave a smile. It didn't matter to her~ It was nice to know that there were others like her around!

Earlier that day, she would have just shook her head and ignored the news, coming from any normal Soquili, but this! She was talking to someone that looked like her, fire and everything included. That grin of his caught her off guard suddenly, she letting a small, cheeky grin wipe over her smile.

"I'm glad ter be meetin' ye as well, missy."

Missy? Never had she heard such a word in her travels, not that Pyre had gotten too far anywhere besides her residence in the desert, really. The grin remained on her face as she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh. The word surely didn't sound threatening or have any malice, so she was positive that it was fine. It.. was an interesting word. She'd have to try it out sometime! Egyptian? She'd have to ask Duskai or Van about their origins later on when she met up with them again. Egypt.. that was far off in another place, farther than Mexico!

Well! He was an interesting one, alright.

Letting the small thought die down, she then perked up at the newly proposed nickname he gave. "Fen?.." Testing out the shortening of his name, Pyre nodded her head at him, mane flickering and whipping about. "Fen will work~" Pyre stated, a grin still over her own muzzle as she gave him a gentle nudge at his shoulder with her snout. "Si, I have a name far too large for myself as well." Raising her head back up, she then spoke with a false voice of authority, as if a person introducing another of royal highness. "Final Pyre All Expired." A bit of a giggle then came out of her as she gave a shake of her head from side to side wearily. "And I have not an idea of what it means, let alone where I got it from. Maybe from when the village burned down?"

Uh oh. She hadn't meant for that last part to slip out. Nervousness getting the best of her in the situation, she flicked her ears back, biting lightly at her bottom lip.

Fenuk had gotten in trouble a few times in his life when his accent and way of speaking had made females fell like he was looking down on them and not giving them the respect that they thought they should rightly get. It figured that no the guys that had the respect were the ones that got into trouble just for having a slightly different way of speaking…

“I’m nae a missy an’ I hope you’re nae offended that I think o’ ye tha’ way.”

He canted his head to one side and looked at her as she was in thought. His own mind was trying to figure out just what her accent could be. Irish like Caelens, definitely not. Nor did she have the soft accent like Baldev and his brood. Lovey had a prissy voice… Nope, he had definitely never run into anything like hers in all of his travels. Which really were not that extensive, but who was asking? Focusing his mind back on the lovely fire-mare in front of him Fenuk shifted his weight from one leg to another trying to decide just what to do with himself. He had never been very good at just staying in one place.

Perhaps if he paid attention he’d follow along with what she was saying.

“Final Pyre all Expired.” Lordy… was somebody trying to punish her when they tacked on all those extra words? “Well then… You’ll just have to tell me what ye liked ter be called, ‘cuz me mind will nae wrap around alll o’ tha’ an’ stick.“ It was a lie, Fen was plenty competent enough to remember her name, but when meeting someone with the same odd qualities as himself… Well you want to get onto good terms and perhaps even become friends. She certainly wasn’t hard on the eyes. Chuckling lightly he pawed at the ground and then stiffened when she mentioned the burning of a village and saw her own chewing of her lip, “Did ye nae have anybody ter train ye on what could set ye off? Thass awful for ye lass… but it canna be helped.”

He had burnt down many a teepee during childhood temper tantrums.. It had made him believe for the longest time that he could not have any emotions at all. Which did not work well as he was every bit as passionate and fiery about life as his hair. “Fer meself…. Anger an’ fear. Thass th’ only way I burn anything… When I was just a wee foal.. Me temper was nasty.”

"Oh no, I'm not offended, Fen!" Pyre urged with a small smile, giving a light laugh at what Fenuk had said. He'd done nothing, and even if he had.. she wouldn't have done anything. The poor girl was too fretful over loosing control of her flames once again. Getting angered over something wasn't worth the life of another in her mind.

The next words that came out from him made the mare give a slight smile, apologetic in a way. The length of her full name always stumped others.. always. Final Pyre All Expired? Not that many liked having to say it all the time. Too many words, too proper, too.. too long! "Pyre works instead of having to chatter that long name of mine out." She replied with a slight nod of her head, flicking her gaze up to the sky in a moment of thought before flashing a smile. A tap of her hoof was given at the sand on the ground, the curved bottom leaving a lightly seen indent as she pondered the idea. Missy? Si, si, missy wasn't too bad. Hell, nothing was as bad as that full name of hers. "Or.. perhaps even missy? I wouldn't mind being called that."

Anybody to train her? There weren't that many who knew how back in what had been her home, but somehow, that had done it.. for the most part. The two-leggers down there had always taken care of her, made sure nothing bad happened. "I don't.. I don't think I really had anyone ever teach me, no." Oh, she had been spoiled! She had been made calm almost constantly by the natives, treated kindly by the visiting children by the heeding words of warning from their mothers, and watched by that damned shaman, all of the always in fear of her flaring up. There were also the accidental ignitions or two of a lavish blanket or even a tending señora's clothing, but that had been when she was just a filly. But the humans learned from those little occurrences, knowing better than to let their little sacrifice near anything flammable. But had they taught her how to control her flames?.. If they had, they must have not done it well, for Pyre practically had to teach herself after the unwanted outburst that had forced her to come to this new land, only knowing the basics. That had been.. very rough learning.

Fenuk' had been in a situation similar to her own as a child? He had things that triggered off his flames as well? "Miedo.. I mean.. fear? Fear is miedo in my tongue.." Pyre murmured to herself as she tried to think of the right word in the still fresh language spoken around her new residence, iffy with whether or not she was correct before giving a flicker of her tail. "Si, that's it. Fear is what gets the best of me. The village I spoke of earlier? I-" A sharp intake of air was taken before she continued with a slight hint of reluctance in her voice. "I lost control. But I've held myself back ever since, so some good came out of it, I suppose. Still learning how to control myself, though. Don't think I'd ever want something like that happening again."
