^^ I'm putting this up now since I don't know if I will I be here later.
It's 8 pm here so 4 more hours till midnight.
Happy new year 2009 everyone, when ever it will be there heart
Do you make a new years wish or a promise? How do you celebrate? biggrin
We have fireworks (I think that's around the world really) And we melt tin biggrin It's a tradition here.. could be somewhere else too. It's kinda like fortune telling.
A piece of tin is heated until it melts. After that, it is poured into a bucket of cold water where the tin cools down and gets it's shape. The tin is then interpreted by looking at its shadow. The tin can, for example, resemble a boat, and it is predicted that the person who got the tin, is going on a holiday during the next year. Or if there are lots of crumbs on the surface of the tin, it may mean money and wealth in the person's life during the coming year."
God that's a long explanation...
Have fun!

Looks like an egg pan to me confused xd Interesting tradition. The only traditions I can think of are fireworks and drinking. We might be going down to the Queen Mary tonight if we can get enough people together. They have an awesome fireworks display. Happy New Year! :3 10 hours and counting.

Those things we melt the tin with are small... like a miniature frying pans biggrin maybe it doesn't have a word in english.

oops >__< Karma is closest to our guesses then. it would just be called a small frying pan. there's a pan like that for frying eggs, it should be about 5 inches in diameter (12cm) what do you usually put in the pan apart from tin?

I was just kidding about the egg pan xd I was bored and actually looked it up. One site called it a smelting ladle.
