It was only after the pain in his chest still wouldn't go away and the people at the hospital told Micajah for the third time that there was nothing wrong with him, he was healing just fine, that the young man decided whatever was the cause of his problem may or may not be magic related and it would be in his best interest to get someone in that field's opinion.
Of course that being said the only person he knew in magic that was above him (other than Sasha it seemed) happened to be one teacher, a certain demon who not only seen him both naked and crying (not together, thankfully), and though he knew it would be the best course of action to talk with him Micajah was feeling a bit hesitant about it all. Talking to Gideon may or may not solve his problem, but until he tried he probably would never know the exact cause of all of this.
So with that in mind the teenager made his way towards the office of said professor, his hands in his pockets as he walked because he was feeling a little timid, but before he could stop himself and turn back around his feet found him facing the door with his hand raised to knock on it.
"Professor? Are you in?"

"... Mmmmn...? Come in, come in..." The deep voice sounded somewhat distracted, and when Micajah entered, he would find the tall demon tossing things haphazardly from a box, onto his sofa, looking for something in particular. Gideon Burdock's red hair was disheveled, he had at least two days worth of stubble, but he looked alive, and rather comfortable with himself.
Glancing over his shoulder, he saw who was coming in, and a wide, friendly smile spread across his face. "Micajah! It's good to see you out of the hospital, boy! Welcome back to Shinkami, by the way, I heard about both your promotion and your visit home. Congratulations on the former, and I'm sorry to hear about the latter."
Dropping the folders and papers in his hands back into the box, he turned to shake the boy's hand, small in his large one. "I trust you'll be getting a new dorm soon, eh?"

"I'd say news travels fast, but I figure you're probably one of the few people who pay any mind to what it is I do and do not do."
Micajah shook the hand that was extended to him as he entered the room, glad to be walking a little easier and looking a lot healthier than the very last time this man had seen him. It had only been a short while ago, but for the teen it may have been only yesterday in terms of embarrassment.
"About the new dorm, yes - here in the School of Magic. I'm just glad that I'll finally have a proper place to stay in, one where I'll make sure not to let Scyeth into when he's having another one of his harebrained scheme days."
The youth chuckled and moved even more inward, taking note of the state of the Professor and the room. Both were in a manner of disarray, and he bit his lower lip as his eyes did a full scan.
"I can come back at another time if you're busy, you know. It's not really important, I just wanted to ask you a few questions."

"Ach, I'm a mess, aren't I?" Gideon chuckled, rubbing at the back of his head, and gestured for the boy to take a seat. "No, no, now is just fine! I've been letting my grooming slip, I realize. Mainly because I don't have many students coming through here, you see."
The large man collapsed into his comfortable chair, fingers interlocked together behind his head. "What's on your mind, Micajah?"

"Ah, I don't know if I should feel comforted by that fact or a little worried. I mean, what if there's a reason people aren't coming in here other than the fact you're a poor cleaner?"
He was trying to be funny but was probably coming off more as insulting, so as soon as he finished kicking himself in his mind for being incredibly rude (almost to the point of no return) he squeaked out a sorry and then made his way over to a clear spot where he could park himself and sit down.
Just going over again in his head what it was that he wanted to ask the teacher now seemed entirely ridiculous since he'd gone and shot his mouth off (a downfall, really) but he needed at least some form of an answer even if it was just 'get out'. He hoped it wouldn't come to that.
"Well, the thing is lately I've been having some strange pains in my body, mostly around my chest and heart. The doctors have told me that nothing is wrong, but since my injuries had been caused by a magical explosion I had taken to thinking that there may or may not be something else behind the phantom pain."
He thought about how it was kind of hard to think straight or breathe evenly whenever his chest hurt, and things like that would interfere with his studies - something he could not allow.
"You're the only person I know who would know about any side effects that can be created as an aftershock, so I didn't know who else to turn to."

Gideon laughed, obviously not taking offense, and shook his head. "No, it seems, rather, that most of you Magic students are interested in the practice, not the research aspects of our school."
Frowning as the blonde continued, he raised one dark brow. "Why don't you update me on the recent happenings in your life, and I'll try to figure it out for you. Meet anyone knew? Any problems? Changes?"

"I have to tell you about it? I would have thought you'd know all about it."
Micajah grinned for a moment, glad the teacher seemed in a good mood, but then folded his hands in his lap as he actually got back to the task at hand. If they could cure whatever this was with something simple like magic or a potion, he'd be in heaven and free from it all.
"Well, I was kept in the hospital for a while after the explosion mainly due to my injuries and the fact I'm human and do not recover quite as quickly as Scyeth did. It took me a little longer, but that part is okay and I'm not suffering from any disability like he is."
It almost made the youth sad to think his friend may or may not be blinded in his eye forever, but in a way part of him (a small part) felt like he was getting his just reward. Jerk had blown his room up, after all.
"I've completed my classes and went home for the holiday, but during those times I didn't have any chest pain. I only seemed to get it whenever -"
Micajah stopped, trying to figure a way to say this without sounding completely ridiculous.
"Well, I met a new student, not the one I had shown around the school, but one who came by when I was in the hospital. He seemed....uninteresting, but lately he's around me all the time. We met again when I tried to go back to classes, and since it seems he's somewhat friends with Scyeth I met him at the latter's birthday party."
He was clearly not mentioning chest pain, at this point in time.

"I enjoy the motions?" Gideon chuckled appreciatively, pulling a bottle from his desk and pouring some gold liquid into a glass before replacing it, taking a swallow, the redhead sighed, and shook his head. They would go over Micajah's visit home at a later time. "Was this student Canaan Kreery, prospective technology student, by any chance?" Gideon raised a brow slightly, chiding Micajah for leaving information out as he continued. "You've been helping him study, haven't you? I'm helping he and Scyeth with their sports club."
A large, toothy grin. The demon leaned forward in his desk, and pointed across it. "It seems this Canaan has enchanted you, boy! I do believe he is the direct cause of your chest pain, or heartache, per say."

"Wait, what?"
Micajah stared at the teacher, who was pouring a drink of whatever it was (probably alcohol) completely dumbfounded. His jaw was slacked slightly, his mouth half-open like he wanted to catch flies, and for a moment it looked like his eyes were going to snap shut at any moment. The youth stayed speechless like that for probably only a few minutes, though it seemed longer, before he could finally try to talk again.
"So you're saying he's emitting some kind of energy that's causing me to have chest pain? Can a human even do that to another one?"
He looked more worried for his life than confused now, actually wondering what the heck Gideon could mean.
"I mean, I know I have been helping him study because he asked me too, but when you say enchant did he really cast a spell? I thought for sure he was going into the Sciences, not Magic like myself. Can normal people cast magic without studying?"

Gideon laughed, and took another swallow, considering offering the blonde a drink, but instead he decided to answer Micajah's many questions separately, then as a whole.
"Well, yes, especially native populations, ones that haven't lost touch with magic. I'm sure that Canaan knows a trick or two, since he's listed as living with his grandmother, a medicine woman of sorts." Another smirk, and he shook his head. "He has studied, just not at this school. His whole life has been a study of nature."
He held up a large finger. "However, no, no, I don't think it's a spell, in the way you're thinking. It's just called attraction, boy. You like him, I think. You know, a crush?"

"So I've been bewitched? I thought we were friends, why would he do that?"
Micajah sat back in the couch before he leaned forward again, his face just a complete jumble of emotions that ranged from embarrassment to downright confusion. He understood most of what Gideon was saying to him, though he seemed to be missing some of a point here or there.
It wasn't that the boy was playing dumb, it was more or less because he jusat probably didn't really understand. his mother had died young so he'd never seen his parents act lovey-dovey or anything, and he didn't have anyone else around he could compare it to.
Scyeth still acted like an a** around RuiZhi so he wasn't certain with that, and there really wasn't any other pairs in the school either.
"Of course I like him, we're friends. I would think people need to like someone in order to be their friend, though I suppose I can be friendly towards others even if I'm not feeling all that nice towards them. And no, I don't know what you mean by 'crush'."

"A crush is a romantic liking, Micajah. He makes your heart beat faster and your face flush when you're close. That sort of thing." Gideon snorted, finishing off his drink and leaned forward to rest his elbows on his desk.
"Look, by enchant, I mean it in a nonmagical sense, unless you consider love magical, which I suppose it is. You like him, and the way Cane's accomplished that, is by simply being himself, no other magical means." He shrugged, then winked at the boy.
"Why don't you just ask him what he thinks of your chest pain?" Poor Micajah, Gideon felt a little bad for the confused magic student.

"Oh. OH OH."
Micajah's face burned bright red as soon as he took a moment to try and think over what Gideon was saying. Then, there was silence as he took it all in. He wasn't stupid, he just wanted a more logical explanation for everything other than 'love' or 'crush' or whatever it was that the Professor was spouting off at him. He wanted cold hard facts, like a real spell or a side effect, not something relating to puberty.
This was mildly unacceptable, because there was no way in hell that Micajah actually had feelings for anyone.
First of all, it wasn't allowed for him to have feelings for someone else - it got in the way of work. Second of all, Micajah was pretty sure he didn't like boys. They never really excited him when he thought about them though he did always blush when he was around someone else of the same gender while naked (granted it was more like embarrassment more than attraction).
"I think you're mistaken. Can I have a second opinion?"

"Hey, I'm not you, so I can't be sure, but it looks a lot like you like him to me." Gideon shrugged again, and yawned, rubbing the back of his head. "I've got a wife, but I had a boyfriend when I was younger."
Probably too much info on the part of Professor Burdock, but he seemed to treat Micajah a lot more casually than other students. "Why don't you just put this conversation in the back of your mind, and refer to it later, next time you're with him?"

"Eh? I didn't know you were married Professor. You always seemed to me like the eternal bachelor type - the kind of guy who could not be tamed."
So Micajah was learning something new about the Professor and it made him feel for a moment like they were getting perhaps to a new level of conversation, though he quickly snapped back to reality when the teacher said he had possessed a boyfriend when he was younger.
Okay, so, that makes him...liberal? I don't know.
"I don't think I'm going to tell Cane anything. I mean, it's just your theory right? It doesn't mean it's real and you said you're not sure, so as far as I'm concerned this is all probably just in my head and I need to get over it."
He sounded slightly miffed, but then again it wasn't a very angry sound either. Micajah just didn't do upset well.
