Setting: The Lost Woods
Time: Early evening
Weather: Cool, the temperature is beginning to drop for the day

Rotem was thoroughly lost. At this point he had come to wandering the area, in search of any sign, or person that would lead him out of this forest. He had cast off his violet silk head garments, slippers and robe, and wandered with only his violet leggings, which were by now so ripped up and dirty the were unrecognizable as any type of refinery. He also carried a satchel and around his neck hung a strange ocarina that gave off a faint glow. He was muttering to himself, cursing whatever he laid eyes on. This was his second day in the forest, and so far he had seen the same stump he had arrived at five times. He thought he was traveling in a straight line, but he must only be making circles. Exhausted, he slumped to the ground next to a tiny spring and brounght the water to his lips by cupping his golden brown hands. His hair draped over his face as he bent his neck to sip the liquid.

The grass twiched in Rotem's vicinity. It twiched once more before bursting with activity. The snuffling sound that accompanied the hidden creature grew louder until he could glimpse bright orange and white stripes were he looking in the right places.

"Gwaaar!" It bellowed happily, its gravelly voice identifiable as possibly a female of whatever species it might be. The snuffling stopped suddenly which revealed the pitter patter of feet. Running feet. "Skee-keke-ke-ke..."

"Vwah!" exclaimed a pipping young boy's voice, "Gwyn - Ooof! You, found m-m-mushrooms, good girl. Yey!"

Snarf, munch-munch. BELCH!

"Gwyndel!" admonished the young Rito, clearly dismayed sounding. He scraped back up to his feet to grab his tool belt. As he hitched it back in place he began to walk through the tall grasses and concealing brush in search of more mushrooms only to spy Rotem at his near prostrate position. "Uhm..." The Rito blinked for at a loss of words. The thing that could be assumed as 'Gwyndel' peered carefully at Rotem from behind the Rito's waist.

Rotem heard the sniffling and reached to grab his swords where the would customarily be, but they weren't there. Of course. He had forgotten them. He knelt at the spring and scanned the bush carefully, in search of the source of the noise. He saw a flash of color but lost it before he could analyze what it was. He stayed still, preparing to either fight or flee. He heard the voice of a boy and soon, that boy was stepping from the bush, with a strange orange and white salamander behind him.

"Friend or foe?"

He could see the Rito features plainly, and the Rito had no current issues with the Gerudo, but it didn't hurt to be cautious. The ocarina around his neck hummed faintly, but he ignored it.

"Whu- I," Mirrari's eyes bulged in fright and a hand raced towards his throat as if to protect it," I. F-friend? Please?" Gwyndel looked from her 'guardian' and the other and decided it would be fun to watch without intervention.

He was timid as a mouse and Mirrari dropped his eyes to look of in another direction. Rotem was a sight to see - from of course being lost for so long a time. The rito boy tried to back up but Gwyndel was in the way. The growing dodongo kept him firmly in place by her girth. She rumbled but not threatening, moreso of a 'Stop pushing me' type.

He knew this boy was too timid to cause him any trouble. He visibly relaxed some and nodded, "I'm sorry for scaring you, you just startled me was all." He knew he looked terrible, and despite his raggedness he tried to look as dignified as he could. He did not know how to ask this boy for help, he felt strange in admitting he was lost. Instead he asked, "Who are you?"

"S-sorry, my name is M-mirrari," When the Gerudo relaxed, he relaxed and he began to finger the loops and fiddle with the strings of the many pouches he had with him. "This is Gwyndel I found her on Death Mountain's foothills. She's nice. Bestest friend ever." The dodongo let out a pleased hiss as she waddled forward somewhat to lay on a soft patch of moss.

"She's g-gotten much bigger, grown well, uhm. We live in Kakariko Village in a potion shop," He still stood, quite unsure of himself to proceed to sit down, if at all Mirrari should. The stranger seemed different anyhow, which warrented him on his toes. Not like other Hylians he'd known. In fact, his whole aura seemed exotic - like a faraway prince, although this prince would probably be one on the run. He looked like he could use a pick-me-up. But wondered if he should give up his small gulp of red potion he made earlier.

Rotem nodded through Mirrari's monologue, but was very interested in Gwyndel. He studied her carefully and knelt down to see her up close. "I've never seen a live one before..." He was very interested in this creature, but he suddenly remembered his manners, "I am Rotem of the Gerudo." He failed to give any other information, as he deemed that unnecessary. "I have been somewhat... lost in this forest for quite some time now." He looked around, to emphasize his point. He had to sit down for a moment as his stomach clenched, and he asked, "You wouldn't happen to have any food, would you?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:29 pm

What was a Gerudo? But that was plainly what Rotem was. Mirrari, having been taught politeness, didn't ask nor continue to ooggle. He lifted a finger and then wiggled them all as he looked downward to is many pouches, it helped him in their child-like way to figure out which one was which.

"M-m-mushroom stew for later, gotta catch something first, n' sourbread for now." Mirrari would have patted his trusty slingshot but instead he watched anxiously as Rotem got closer to his companion. You never could tell exactly how Gwyndel was going to react. Or at least he was never able to know. She was good however and let him watch her. She made a great show of yawning for him.

"Whaddya mean uh, l-l-live ones? Being in the v-village s-sometimes we see them fly around, n-never come close though. All up in the mountains 'n such... Where do you... live, mister?"

"Mister? Hahaha!" He laughed semi-happily at being shown such respect, "I'm only 15. And not very tall..." His diminutive build, at only 5', made many think he was younger than he was. "I live in a desert... Which I don't know how to return to. We have no mountains or any of this creature, but I have read of them in books." He looked hopefully at Mirrari, "Food?" Not eating in a day and a half while wandering the forest constantly had taken its toll.

Wow a whole five feet tall! And only fifteen years old? He was certainly close to being an adult. Mirrari nodded. "You are t-t-too a mister, because you're almost an adult, you're much taller than me and older. I'm only twelve... Mama Altos says I'm only f-four feet and five inches." He talked while he unwrapped the bread chunks and handed some to Rotem, "Uhm. Is a d-desert like the Hyrule Plains? They're big and its such a long way to this province..."

Mirrari thoughtfully pondered as he took a bread chunk for himself. A bit of food never helped for thinking.

(( Well since you posted that kinda constrains what I was going to do in this post... So uh, I guess I'll end it here and we'll play out reactions.))

Veaka and Orina crouched in a tree, watching the two with mischievous amusement. The Rito she had seen before, searching for mushrooms, but the other was strange... They had never seen a gerudo before. Such hair!
she knew what one was, of course. The Deku tree did tell stories.

"Who should we mess with?" asked Orina, whispering in Veaka's ear.

Veaka grinned. "Both of them. at the same time."

Orina fluttered excitedly. "I'll get started, then."
The fairy flew away from the Kokiri, fluttering into the foliage. Suddenly, she shoots out of the bushes on one side, planning her flight so she would fly right under both of their noses.

((happy new year!!!!!))

Rotem took the bread reverently, and nibbled at it slowly, wary of eating the entire thing lest his stomach up heave should he eat too quickly. He paused in his eating to answer Mirrari, "The desert stretches longer than one can imagine... Unless one knows the way so positively they can walk it with their eyes closed, or if one has the eye of truth..." Rotem looked slightly sad at his next thought, "I have seen very little though of the desert, my home has always been the desert oasis and the Spirit Temple." He saw the fairy fly under his nose and his first reaction was to swing a palm up and try to smack it away. The bread he placed at his side as he jumped up and took a defensive stance.

[[ No no it was the post of Miz Feline bouncing in, so to cut my actions short and go in a reversed direction. I've never had an ORP before so having a random post be inserted kinda stopped my lines of thinking and direction. I have to think of a new line or route of the story. But thats ok. I just wish I had finished it before hand was all. *Note: Italic words from Gwyndel is for the benifit of other grottoans. Since they can understand each other generally, but Hylians, Rito, Zora - etc. cannot. ]]

Mirrari jumped nearly a foot into the air, he was startled and landed right on dozing Gwyndel's sensitive tail. "Yeeah! Oof!" Gwyndel whimpered once and then rolled upwards. In a snap she had been three hundred pounds of lazy dodongo to that same weight - a furious ball of irritation.

"Wrragh!" She bellowed, whipping around to her guardian. Her growling was intimidating, "*Why you - This is the thanks I get!" She started to snap at his heels when she noticed the glowing fairy and Rotem. The abyss hath no fury like an angry dodongo. Gwyndel started to go after one of the two, which know one could know since the little Rito boy did something both very brave, and very stupid - he latched onto her tail.

Rotem could see the rampaging orange and white creature, and the fairy that had caused the problem. He couldn't decide what to do first, jump to safety or try to help the Rito child that had jumped latched onto the angry creature. Problem was, how could he help? The ocarina around his neck glowed stronger than usual, and notes unheard by humanoid ears began to play softly, a soothing tune that was meant to calm all excited minds.
[[Okay.]]

((srry. Expect the unexpected in an ORP. Makes for a better roleplay and story.))

Orina giggled, having flown safely into the brush on the other side.
That was fun! chaotic!
Maybe they wouldn't need to do anything more for a while.
although... that bread at the Gerudo's side was very tempting.

Veaka, the kokiri part, was of the same mind. At this point, she wouldn't mind just watching.
She hadn't counted on THIS much chaos, had totally forgotten to include the dodongo, but this was better than anything she could have ever planned.
She couldn't help it. Especially when the gerudo began to play something that she thought she might be able to hear, but was just out of range.
She began to laugh.
