Dreams, for Polly, often started and ended up on the island. It was strange, in a way, because she had spent more time on Gaia than she had on the island, but something about it had lodged its way in her heart and mind.
Which was why she was sitting on the beach now, tossing rocks at the water that seemed to stretch on for eternity. Not too far away, still beached as it had been when she was young, was the Jolly Rodger. It was empty. There were trees behind her, coconuts and bananas growing from them all, but there were no birds or animals to be seen.
She was all alone.
Without a word she picked up another rock from the pile next to her and threw it at the sea, watching as the waves dragged it down with them.

Well, not entirely alone. At least, not after Galleai stepped into the dream. She was human looking this time around, and she peered about the island curiously. It was... pretty! But quiet. There was a pirate ship dead in the water. There was no birdsong. It seemed to be a terribly lonely sort of dream. Galleai stepped forward and saw the little figure sitting on the sand. Barefoot, she padded towards the girl, whistling a tune softly so that she wouldn't take the dreamer totally unawares.

Polly glanced up, then turned back to the water, her tail twitching slightly behind her. "If you came to make fun of me, you're early," she told the girl. "First you gotta wait until I get angry at nobody being here."
It was said so matter-of-factly that it seemed a bit pathetic. She was used to this sort of lonely dream.

Galleai blinked, then plopped onto the sand next to Polly. "But you can't get mad about nobody being here, 'cause I'm here now. And anyways, I didn't come to make fun you." She tried a little smile and looked out over the vast expanse of water towards the Jolly Rodger. "Is it just you and me?"

Polly looked at her a bit suspiciously. "Sometimes there's a sea monster," she said grudgingly when it seemed the other girl wasn't going to go away. "He likes to make the water nasty so I can't swim, then laugh at me."
She picked up another rock, throwing it into the water. "Who are you?" she asked. "And what do you want? If it's treasure I ain't giving it to you."

"Treasure?" Galleai's eyes lit up a bit at the thought of hunting for treasure. "Oh, no, I'm not looking for treasure or anything. I dont really want anything. Except maybe an adventure. Do you have anything like that here?" Her voice was hopeful. She'd been wandering around in a lot of adventure-like dreams lately. They were a whole lot of fun. "We could go and tease the sea-monster and make him angry and then laugh at him..."

Polly thought about it. "There's one person in here," she finally said. "But he's scary." She turned, looking towards the trees hesitantly. "Or we could go cliff diving," she added, not really wanting to run into Silva, even in her dreams.
It was kind of strange that he was still here, even though everyone else wasn't. But it wouldn't be the island without him to her.

"Cliff diving? I've never done that before." Galleai got to her feet and grinned. "Lets go! Will you show me how?" She extended her hand out to Polly eagerly, wanting to go off and have some fun. Dreams that happened in such neat places like this island were dreams that Galleai definitely wanted to explore.

Polly hesitated before getting to her feet and taking the other girl's hand. "I love cliff diving," Polly said, her brilliant smile finally showing. "I did it before I even learned to swim. And Tock yelled at me SO much cuz of it. Then he yelled at me for running around naked while putting a swimming suit on me."
The world seemed to shift around them as she spoke, and suddenly they were standing at the river, on the edge of a high waterfall. "This is the highest one around," she told the girl, looking down into the splash of white at the bottom.
It seemed so very far down.

Peering down and down and down, Galleai's eyes widened. "Oh my..." She said softly. "Do you just... jump off? Is the water deep enough at the bottom?" She knew it was foolish to ask this sort of question. It was a dream, after all. The rules of the waking world did not apply here.
But still. "You'd better go first and show me." There was still a bit of trepidation in the dreamwalker's voice.

Polly grinned at her and shucked her clothes to reveal a long green loincloth wrapped around her to cover the vital spots. "Tock jumps this one," she told the other girl. "Tock's so big that it has to be really, really deep for him to jump. It's safe."
Then she took three long steps backwards, stopped, took a deep breath, then raced forward at a blur diving over the side of the cliff like a bird taking to flight. For a moment it looked as if she was flying, the faintest traces of light over her back like wings.
Then she plummeted straight down, slipping into the water below and disappearing for a long moment.

Galleai stared, leaning far over the cliff to watch the girl plummet like a roller pidgeon and slide into the water. "Wow.." She murmurred under her breath. In a flash, she was standing there in a loincloth that was just like Polly's, though of a purplish blue color that matched her hair and her headwings. Taking a deep breath, Galleai made a similar running leap and let out a loud whooping noise as she fell, not as gracefully as the other girl but passably well for her first time, into the water with a huge splash.
"Wow!" Galleai exclaimed again, upon surfacing. She turned a soaked and grinning face to Polly. "Wow! That was so much fun!"

Polly grinned back at her, her redhead dark with water. She shoved it out of her face, even as it started to dry. The water was warmer than it should have been, as well, even though the water of the river was always at a nice warm temperature.
"Wanna do it again?" she asked. She looked up at the cliff and for a second a large shadow stood there. Then it disappeared.

If Polly was the sun, gleaming red and gold, Galleai was the moon and her pale skin was almost blinding. She beamed at the redhead and nodded. "Yes! Oh yes, lets do it again!" She was looking at Polly and didn't notice the shadow on the cliff, didn't sense any sort of foreboding that she'd normally be sensitive to.

Polly saw it. But she didn't do anything about it, instead she climbed out of the water and headed for the steep path that led back to the top of the waterfall. It was tough going, but she didn't seem to notice.
There were callouses so thick on the soles of her feet that it was as if she were wearing shoes.
