This is where I will post the holy scripture of the various races in Mechanism. Upon request I will add more to the list. My reason for posting these is that I hope someone will make a religious character and they should probably know what their character would worship. The books are:
The Book of Old: Humans
The Scroll of the Ancestors: Elves
The Book of Amanaren: Beastmen & some Orcs

Please keep in mind that no one religion is wrong and characters can have contact with the gods. Differing races may think that some religions are wrong, but in this world each is right.

First up: The Book of Old
This is the holy scripture of the humans of all countries. The Empire takes this text too seriously, causing the war with the Beastmen. The Humans worship the four saints, The Saint of Earth, The Saint of Water, The Saint of Fire, and the Saint of Air. The Saints dwell in a respective place that mimics their respective element:
Saint of Air: Sky
Saint of Earth: Underground
Saint of Water: Ocean
Saint of Fire: Volcano

The Humans believe that the four saints combined, control everything that happens in the world.
The following is an excerpt from the book of old:

" In the beginning, there was nothing, then there were the Saints. The Saints saw nothing and bent it to their will. They pushed the dark together and it hardened into space. Then, the saint of water spake, saying, "In this something there is nothing?" and she pushed space together and made Purnoma and it's moons.
The saints then craved thanks for their work, so they made life on the planet. First they made Beastmen, but the new blasphemous creations did not give the saints their praise, so in punishment the saints reverted the beastmen to their beast forms, and so the animals of the world were created. However some beastmen escaped this punishment by hiding in underground tunnels, unbeknown to the saints.
Then the saints made the elves, learning from their past mistakes, the saints did not make the new race mixes. They gave the elves power over the AEther, the domain of the saints. It allowed the elves to use magic. The elves were blasphemous also, but they cared for the planet, so the saints did not punish them.
Finally the saints made we humans, the final race. We gave the saints their praise and they were finally content."

Next: The Scroll of the Ancestors
This is the holy book of the Elves, well... the Nations anyway. The elves believe that no god or gods determine fate, but the souls of all that have died. They do not see death in the same way as humans and beastmen do. For to the elves, when one dies, their soul goes into AEther and joins the other departed. From AEther they control what happens in the mortal plane.

The following is an exert from the Scroll of Ancestors:

" "Do not mourn for me" the elven lord did say, "For as i die, I continue to live on." And with that he did pass. I Searched my entire life for his meaning, I did. and I found nothing. Until 200 years later.
I realized that he spoke of the AEther, yes the very source of our magical powers. He was mighty, and knew far beyond this world, for long did he study AEther, and long did he keep his secret. For there was already a view of death, and he feared the ridicule and perhaps punishment of his views in comparison.
After the realization, i wrote down all the man knew and thought, or I now knew he was guiding me. My first stop to spread the truth, was the old temple."

Finally: The Book of Amanaren
This is the holy book of the Beastmen, as well as the few Orcs that believe in anything other then war. The Beastmen believe that there is one god, Amanaren, who acts on the world through the spirits of the world (Similar to Kamis). When one dies, they become a spirit of the world and serve Amanaren. This religion explains how the Amanaren Mechanism came to be.

The following is and Exert from The Book of Amanaren:

" Amanaren had made the world and all it's people and animals and spirits. But he could not always be there, nor could his spirits. They couldn't affect the plane as a mortal could.
Amanaren knew that he had to supply the people with something to govern themselves with, and keep order with.
He summoned his best spirits, the spirit of Gold, the spirit of Fire, and the spirit of Æther. He commanded them to make something to do the task. The three obeyed.
The spirit of fire made the forge, the spirit of gold made the gear, and the spirit of Æther instilled the power. They took the great golden mechanism to Amanaren. He looked upon it with delight, "Well done my servants!" and his booming voice created a thunderclap.
He then took the mechanism in his hand and thrust it upon Purnoma, and knew that he had given the people the power to keep the world in balance. "
