In the lush green lands of a feudal Japan mankind has ruled for many years, but that is about to end as an unknown surge of evil spreads across the land making shadows darker and ominous. Once harmless creatures twisted into hideously twisted reflections of their former selves many of which grew to monstrous sizes and dangerous strengths. New breeds sprouted from the darkness created when multiple creatures near each other were fused together when the darkness took them.

Many of those twisted by the darkness were drawn to those lucky enough and yet so unfortunate to not be mutated by the vile darkness.

However hope is not lost as creatures with strong will powers and spirits kept their individuality from being twisted while gaining the powers granted by them. Some of these creature's body's became twisted like their corrupted counter parts taking on new forms including characteristics of animals. Others still looking like their normal selves while gaining new powers. These creatures came to be known as demons roaming the world for their own purposes whatever it may be.

These demons vary in personality and power as greatly as the leaves of a mighty oak tree in autumn. Some will choose to help while others have chosen to use their new found abilities for their own selfish means making them more dangerous then the corrupted swarms running over the land.

In a world of true beauty and real fear where do you stand? Are you the predator,prey, or do you fancy yourself a protector? The choice is yours.

Character's Name: Kyoji Sahaku

Skills/Powers: He can control raw darkness and shape it into special temporary weapons, or as direct attacks. Shedding the blood of himself and others, enhances his speed, strength and stamina.

Flaws: In combat, he can get addicted to the performance enhancing effects the presence of blood has on him, so much so that he becomes physically unable to leave combat.

Details: A former Ruoni, assigned to take out targets for various Feudal Lords. His last assignment was to steal an evil sword known as the Muramasa. However, that night was the same night that the darkness spread across the land. The moment he grabbed hold of the blood-drinking sword, the darkness entered his body and took control of him. He regained control of his mind and body, and discovered that he had been granted the same dark powers as Muramasa. Now he wanders the lands, attempting to discover his true purpose. The Muramasa's mind is also sealed within him and sometimes take control of him in combat.

Alignment: Neutral (but can turn Evil if the Muramasa clouds his mind.)

Skills/Powers: She can control both plants and earth.

Flaws: She is frightened of her powers, but this often comes into conflict with her strong sense of honor, which sometimes leads her to indecision. At times, she may also pass out, as her life energy is periodically drained by Murasame.

Details: The daughter of a noble family who guarded two legendary swords, known as Murasame and Muramasa. She was trained as a warrior and excelled in the art of swordsmanship even from an early age. When she came of age, she was sent off with a traveling samurai, who would be her mentor and idol as she became a journeyman in the ways of the blade.

One day she and her mentor encountered Kyoji, when he was a young wandering swordsman. Kyoji challenged her mentor to duel, but Ayumi countered his challenge, and demanded he fight her. This would set the stage for an ongoing rivalry between the two. Eventually the two encountered each other less and less, and Ayumi's time with her mentor was over. She returned home a strong woman, ready to carry out her duty to protect the two evil swords. On the day the darkness spread throughout the land, an intruder broke into the family castle and attempted to take the blood-drinking sword Muramasa. Ayumi, in a fit of rage, took the Soul-eating blade Murasame, and sought to destroy the intruder.

As she grabbed the evil sword, she was knocked unconscious by the Darkness. When she came to several days later, the sword was still sheathed at her side, and soon discovered that it was Kyoji who took Muramasa. Vowing to retrieve the sword, she set out to find Kyoji and reclaim the blood-drinking sword, even if it means using the sister sword Murasame to do so. Little does she know of the risk, she has taken by using the soul-eating sword

Ayaka: Is a mystery child, wild as the flame she controls.

Flaws:
Cho: Her past, people who assert control over her
Ayaka: Being a wild child she acts out in ways that her mother would only feel. She is an impish child by nature.

Details: Cho grew up in a small village, she lived there all her life. On her first trip out of the village to a larger town in search of supplies she fell into trouble. She was 17, and new to the city life. Her first night in the town Cho was raped and beaten by the men who trapped her. When she returned to the city she became an out cast, and to make matters worse she was pregnant. In the town, there was no one who would care for her, no man that would assist her in living. She would have to do it alone. She worked as a farmer, tending to her own fields even though the months of pregnancy.

Eventually she had the children, two little girls. Ayaka and Emi. Both of them, to her relief looked like her and not one of the men who could have been the father. The children grew and helped their mother when they could. They were a close family, but once day, just after her children turned 6 a dark shadow. Something happened to make the villagers angry, and when the family awoke one day they had all changed over night. Cho had hardly had enough time to wake her children before the towns people stormed the small hut they lived in. They believed that the evil that had taken the town had come for the family of sin. They set her home on fire. Cho had only enough time to grab one of her children as she ran. She tried to return, but the house was burning to the ground. With burning eyes she ran from the town. Cho returned later to find the town burned to the ground, everything was black, and all the people were gone. Cho refused to feel that her daughter was dead, so she took Ayaka and began to search for her other daughter.

Skills/Powers: Mara is excellent at healing, and running, meaning she is very fast and also quite energetic. She is training to be a priestess.

Flaws: Mara hates death. Also being so young when she heals it drains her of energy depending on the amount of healing she is preforming.

Details: Mara's lived a very happy life. She had a wonderful loving family, many supportive friends, but one day shortly after turning six her village was taken by an evil that seemed to spread as a fog. The people whom she had grown to love suddenly came after her, to harm her. Ruled by fear she summoned fourth her celestial powers and destroyed the town taken by the evil.

Completely stripped of energy Mara fell to her knees. Tears burned her eyes as she sobbed openly. At that time she wanted nothing more than to die, she was all alone, and then there was a man. Too weak to move, and too numb to care she allowed him to take her. She learned his name, Hiro, and accepted him as her family, she also woke to a new world realizing that she had changed as well, but with no reason behind it. She now had cat ears and a fuzzy tail. With the chance to live a new life Mara forgot this prior part of her life, her powers locking it deep within her, so that she could continue on with her life. Her meeting him just seems like a natural thing, he is all she knows now as a family, and she has been traveling with him ever sense.

Character Name: Gouki

Skills/Powers: Martial arts skills, incredible agility, and the ability to summon non living things to his hands including his favorite weapon. A staff that extends and shrinks at his will.

Flaws: Angers easily at times.

Details:
The darkness took Gouki making him as much man as monkey. He traveled the country ever hungry as he challenged many strong people and became very strong himself.

On his journey he found a village where villagers angrily torched a house. Gouki could hear the whimpers and coughs of someone in the building and broke into the home. Within the burning home he found a young girl crying as the flames lapped at her body. Gouki took the girl and leaped through the fire to escape.

The villagers calling Gouki devil were not long for the world as the injustice of people trying to harm a little girl boiled his rage. Even though the girl was young still she begged Gouki to stop as the streets ran red with his rage. Gouki found the control to stop and pick the girl up taking her away from the few villagers left horrified as the fire they lit soon turned to their own homes and they did not have enough people to stop it anymore.

The girl could not remember much of anything about her past and Gouki took pity on her. Hence forth he called the girl Mara and adopted her as his little sister. Gouki would protect her from now on.

Skills/Powers: Suiyobi has the ability to control the element fire and is an excellent swordsman. Very agile in the field he provides an excellent leader.

Flaws: Tends to show little emotion and if used to frequently, his power is capable of self mutilation.

Details: Once a high ranking general of the emperor, he led many victorious quests. Upon entering his last battle however, the enemy soldiers appeared zombie like with a dark violet aura. He pursued to attack, but the surge of tainted enemies proved to be to much. Suiyobi and his loyal men were infected with an evil. This was the beginning of a struggle for dominance over his own body. Through the past years he has maintained a certain control and now quests for nothing but vengeance for his the cursed evil tainting his body.

Flaws: Unable to forgive himself for outliving his master, he can not kill.

Details: He used to be a simple pet lizard, but the darkness had reached his family's town. While he gained a few powers, the darkness had mutated his family horribly. He killed his family out of mercy, but still feels guilty over the look of pain they had had. He searches for a new family that he can protect

Skills/Powers: Hydrokinesis & Water Powers

Flaws: Her powers is hard to control and she has to concentrate to keep from hurting or worse yet drowning others.

Details: Coming from generations of shrine maidens long ago before the darkness came across the land she had always had limited hydrokinetic and water powers. The mix of the two were potent. However that did not stop the darkness that consumed her mind and took over the temple that she was raised in from attack stealing from her a vital item that would better serve to control her powers. She can control them now with some degree but it troubles her deeply to watch what she does out of fear she might drown someone one day.

Character Name: Fuu Kaze

Skills/Powers: Wind User, she is able to sometimes even fly due to the power of the wind, but at a price. It can drain her of her energy. The wind is a tricky mistress. It can aid you one moment when you need her, but fail you the next should you misuse her.

Flaws: Earth users are her main weakness

Details: Because of the darkness, her powers have become twisted about. They are unstable and she only uses them when she must in order to protect those she has sworn to protect. She now searches for the duo now, as they were two that even though the city was destroyed. Her oath remains to ever protect them as their ninja till the end of her life occurs.

Kyoji walked along a road, he was alone, and the sheathe of his mysterious sword Muramasa, hung on the sash around his robes. He looked around cautiously, keeping watch for any of the beings twisted by the darknes, or a full fledged demon that might attempt to ambush him. These dark times are making me nervous. He thought to himself. The roads that were my home are no longer safe. His eyes continued to wander as he walked along.

Sakura would walk the roads. Her body seemed both exhausted and lacking of energy. She looked like someone searching for something or somebody. Her hair looked disheveled. Her eyes were sullen like she had lost something of value and had not eaten in days trying to find whatever it was she was looking for.

Suiyobi walked through the thick forest with annoyance. His armor was heavy, building pressure on his shoulders, and he hadn't eaten in quite a while. He trudged over the foliage, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. Not far off, a scream was audible. For a moment, Suiyobi stopped, attempting to find it's origin; his crimson eyes blazed under the sun, as he searched the forest. His head snapped to the left.

Now sure of his heading, Suiyobi ran, clutching a katana sheath in hand. Twigs and shrubbery snapped under foot, as he made way to the scene. Stopping full sprint, he peered down the the lifeless body of a human male, ravaged and pouring blood from a shoulder socket. Near by, a few more bodies lay sprawled and lifeless. Suiyobi unsheathed his blade, carefully gripping it for attack, as he moved amongst the massacre.

Kyoji smiled at waved a hand. "No no. It is no issue, miss!" He insisted. "I'm in no hurry to get anywhere really. So its no issue." He smiled at the woman and her child. "Are you heading toward anywhere in particular?" He asked Cho curiously. "There isn't much around here, I've been through these ways before... the Darkness fell." He said softly.
