May I be the first to say, Happy 2009, everyone, although I am 3 days early.
Even though it's still December for a few days, I want to get this up now so that you guys have plenty of time to work on it. I'm making up for the lack of time you got for the Christmas event.
Prompt #3 from creativewritingprompts.com (yes, your captain is a cheater and used a website for the monthly prompt. It will happen again in the future.)
The dictionary atop your shelf has over 200,000 words defined. Go get it, and pick out 10 random words. Don't look at the meanings; just concentrate on the words. Write down (or type) your words. Now, have fun creating meanings for these words. What do these words make you think of? What do you think they should mean?
Post your 10 words and made up definitions here. Optionally, you can post the real definitions to the words for comparison with your made up ones.
Ready, set, GOGOGO!

World English Dictionary. heart
Ontogeny noun, the disease of becoming smart. (Wow, I suck at making definitions.....) Real meaning: the development of an individual from a fertilized ovum to maturity.
Viburnum noun-the vibrating sac in a carnivorous plant which creates luring movement. Real: Shrub or small tree with flat or rounded clusters of white flowers sometimes tinged with pink. (I got the plant part right!!)
Istle A mantle worn traditionally by brides on a few unheard-of Greek isles. Real: Strong fiber used to make carpets, baskets, and rope
Maculation A strong hunger to eat macaroni. OCD for macaroni. ( sweatdrop ) Real: spotted markings on some animals; staining or stains.
Natrium A swimming pool simulating salt water. Real: Latin name for sodium, giving it the chemical symbol Na. (I think I knew that....)
Uh, maybe I'll finish this later, seeing as I've lost interest...
