Under the starry sky, a small cub was having difficulty sleeping. Awiti'asha tossed about in her half-sleep, knocking into her large family until she settled on her stomach, and looked to her closest sister, and wondered if she was dreaming of the future. Awiti shook her head, trying her best to sleep, but the stars were shining in such bizarre ways without the moon to overshadow them. Quietly, she rose to her feet, and wove between the tangle of legs, tails, and bodies until she was free of the mass of her family, and looking back, she set out.
The cub had no intention of going far, nor did she know where she would find herself, but her hope was to tire herself out well enough to reach a peaceful sleep. And so she sighed, looking at her black feet as they trotted further and further away from her family.

With the darkness to accompany him, Abrafo sailed across the land with a free heart that only rogues have the oppurtunity to know. Though he had sworn his loyalty to his king, the young lion still felt that urge to escape and often times acted on it, more so now that he wasn't soully dependent on others for protection. His fangs itched and felt deprived as they sat against his lips, almost as if they were commanding him to kill. Not tonight, he told himself. I can't tonight.
The last time he'd actually tried taking on a creature, the situation turned ugly and the violent leopardess had scarred him physically as well as emotionally. This past week he'd be running it off, escaping the scathing looks of judgement that his peers cast upon him.
However, his stomach did rumble fiercely, not only for the blood he craved but for the meat he needed to survive. He ran faster now, taking advantage of the darkness he'd chosen to live in. Sniffing out his prey, Abrafo jotted towards it, creeping silently through the foliage to get a better scope of things.
A little cub surprised him. What was something so small and delicate doing out at this time of night, alone? Of course, in his pride this wasn't uncommon but here? Shaking his head, Abrafo stalked closer to her, only making the occasional rustle. Meat was meat, no matter how cute it may be.

Awiti's paws stopped and her head pivoted as she looked towards the source of rustling. However, it didn't frighten her. Her small mind rationalized that dangerous things were either asleep or obvious, and so she took a small step forward, her head tilted in curiosity, and her mouth agape with childish wonder. Her intention was not to kill, but to discover and investigate, and if she had a vision, it would be all the more of a lucky encounter.
Her eyes searched through the leaves, passing over a black body, but trying to focus on a target as she lowered her upper body and tensed her hindquarters, preparing to spring, unless it made the first move. But her posture was unrefined and her tail's wagging and giggles were less than a hunting demeanor, no matter the outcome she wanted.

Abrafo circled around to the side of the cub, running the situation over in his head while his tail flicked nervously behind him. He knew he couldn't possibly kill her now. Something that looked that innocent in the dead of night, despite death staring her in the face wasn't something he wanted riding on his conscience for the rest of his life. However, that didn't mean he was going to leave her alone - far from it. The night had only begun.
Now, what to do? She needed to learn how to stay home, that was for sure. He grinned, canines gleaming in the starlight. Once he had his body perfectly lined up with her from behind, he sprang from the leaves and let loose an ear shattering roar; though no fault of its ferocity but all due to the high pitched squeek that comes with a male changing his voice. His lanky body continued to advance upon her until he was within striking rang, snarling and growling, ears laid back flat against his head as his shoulders rippled.

The cub's head jerked back and her eyes widened in terror, her only thought of just how wrong she had been. She stumbled forward until she could turn to face the danger, and once more, she was surprised. The beast was far smaller than she expected, just about the same size as Gouta's children, but that didn't lessen the threat. She saw his teeth glisten in the starlight, and her thoughts ran rampant about her own possible demise, though it had been the only one she'd never seen.
Awiti'asha shook momentarily as her feet backed away, but even if this was to be her end... Well, she still wanted to know who it would come from. Her head ducked low, and she took a miniscule step towards her assailant, until her instinct chastised her for being so stupid. But if only she could see him in the light, or catch a vision. She bit her lip in fear and anxiety, curiosity, and disappointment.

The juvenile's ears flattened back against his head while his body pulled back. She was supposed to be scared, quaking in his mere prescence and ready to run for her life. But here she stayed...acting weird. Placing one paw infront of the other, he started to slowly circle her. " Such little paws to be out on your own this late at night, " He whispered as he came around, craning his neck to place his fangs next to her ear. " Don't you know? Predators just love midnight snacks. "
Using his tail to flick the side of her rump, Abrafo glided a bit away from her before he sat down. He lifted his paw up to lick at the little claws that could easily be the cubs undoing.

The little seer did not like his circling one bit, and she lowered her body to the ground almost as if she was hiding before a hunt. Her ears too, pinned back onto her head, and her tuft of hair seldom flickered in the otherwise still night air. They shuddered and twitched as the cub's hot breath hung within them, and her flank shook as if with a fly.
But his giggle only made him more childish and less intimidating, so even through her fear, she managed a glare from behind her black mask. "You're hardly older than me!" She intended her words to be fierce, but they came out as hardly a mutter.

( Forgive my lateness. :O We've had no internet because of the storms. )
Abrafo froze. He placed his paw delicately back onto the ground and turned around to the little bandit marked female. Pulling his gums back for a fierce snarl, he lowered his gangly body down to the ground. " You think age actually matters? " His ears flickered up with the knowledge that the longer he talked to her, the worse things would become. Everyone outside of his pride was a danger to him. Everyone. Little girls included.
The juvenile tucked his left foreleg underneath himself and used it to roll himself over onto his back. With his paws laying lazily ontop of his body, Abrafo looked up curiously at her. " Who are you anyway? And what are you doing out here? Obviously, your not hunting or doing anything productive. "

[[ :0 You got those too?]]
Awiti watched uneasily from the corner of her eyes, much like a meerkat sizing up a snake to determine striking range. Her lavender eyes narrowed at his purple as they rolled before her. Cautiously, and childishly, she reached out, as if to swat him but came just short. She drew back and took in a deep breath. "Who am I? So does that actually matter? I just couldn't sleep is all." She sat down before him, her naive nature completely over the would-be killer.
"What are you doing out here? I bet your parents aren't closer than mine." Her words were almost a taunt, the presence of two lions her threat to this juvenile, but it was simply for fun anyway. Just like this boy before her.

( They're all over. :O I've already been out of school for a week because of ice/snow. )
" It doesn't matter. " Abra lolled his head over onto its side, exposing his wide pink eye. " I'm just curious by nature and I like to have a wide range of knowledge, thats all. "
The fear of any feline bigger than himself didn't exist. He didn't fear anything or anyone, which made him foolish. Strikingly, he didn't come back with a witty comment as fast as before. His dark paws clenched into the fur on his stomach while his fangs grinded against one another, naturally responding to the hurt inside of his soul. " I can gaurentee that their not. If I'm lucky, they'll both be rotting in some hyena's stomach. "

Awiti turned her nose up at Abrafo, looking down on him saying, "Well then I guess that makes me smarter than you!" But as he went on, her expression turned from an act of disdain to that of surprise. She didn't yet know what a hyena was, but she sure knew a stomach. This time she let him have it. A bat of her paw [feeble from her size] across the face and an intake of breath to spew outrage.
"Why would you say something like that! You're mean!" Though the little seer saw the death of her own parents numerous times, it was never anything to wish upon them or hope for, like this cub seemed to imply. She wrinkled her nose and braced herself, displeased with the reverent subject she knew without experience.

Abrafo's eyes widened to maximum capacity. He rolled back over onto his stomach, hesitantly touching his face where she'd grazed him. " I'm mean? " His voice was barely a whisper, mingling with the wind that seemed to spiral around his dark body. His bi-colored eyes flashed with a renewed hunger as he leapt up from the ground in one powerful thrust, knocking her to the ground. " You know not the meaning of the word, cub! "
Like in every strike a hunter had made in his pride, every powerful advance made upon other lion's, Abrafo channeled what he'd seen into his appearance. His lips pulled back over exposed fangs while his head craned down towards her. " I bet you live a perfect little life, don't you? Your parents take care of you, feed you, tell you how much they love you." He spat the hated words. " People like you can't possibly understand why someone else doesn't act all 'sunshine and rainbows'. " His little claws flexed into the soil, grinding upon it like a dead zebra.

Awiti had never experienced such fear in her life since the time she had first witnessed the mangled bodies of her family, until now. She stopped breathing as he towered above her, scared witless until her vision grew dark like the body above her and the little cub fainted. Her body went limp and her eyes fluttered until they closed, the basic appearance of experiencing any other vision, but it was just an abyssal fear she felt, vulnerable, cold, and exposed on the savannah floor.
As she faded from consciousness, she heard the boy's words, and could only think of how true they really were.

Abrafo's bravado quickly faded. He was so used to resistence that he was stunned when she fainted. His eyes widened as he stepped back, ears laying back against his head. Anger still rode him hard, but at the moment, fear was starting to over power it. Timidly, he reached out to poke her mid-section with a curious paw and when she failed to respond, he started gnawing on his bottom lip, his extended fangs hanging out over it. She's dead. She's really dead. I-I killed her.....I really killed her.
What was he supposed to do? She wasn't some slab of meat he could rip into and forget about later. The quickly breathing juvi half-circled her still body with his tail swatting the air desperately behind him. This girl had a family. That fact alone sank his heart to the very bottom of his chest. Sniffing back tears, he bent down to grab her by the scruff of her neck and rolled her around. Abrafo snaked his stomach against the ground underneath her body and when he had her situated, he stood. He used his heightened sense of smell to detect the trail she'd used to get here and feeling worse than he ever had, started in that direction.
The least he could do was bring her home.

The rolling and jostling stirred Awiti gradually, and her lavender eyes opened again when Abrafo was already on his way. But not knowing his intentions, her first and only thought was that he intended to carry her back with him for dinner! Her breath caught in her chest and she tried not to cry out, afraid that alerting him would mean her demise all the sooner. So she watched, eyes wide and brimming with tears as she thought about Bwana and Gouta and Xeneliya and Sisi and Damupich and all of Gouta's kids. Would they miss her?
Would they even know she was gone? [[Wanna wrap this up soon? :3]]
