This book was amazing! The author,Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, has many other vampire novels that are great!
The summary is as follows: I was born to the name of Rachel Weatere in the year 1684, more than three hundred years ago.
The one who changed me named me Risika, and Risika I became, though I never asked what it meant. I continue to call myself Risika, even though I was transformed into what I am against my will.
By day, Risika sleeps in a shaded room in Concord, Massachusetts. By night, she hunts the streets of New York City. She is used to being alone.
But now someone is following Risika. Someone has left her a black rose, the same sort of rose that sealed her fate three hundred years ago.
Three hundred years ago Risika had a family — a brother and a sister who loved her. Three hundred years ago she was human.
Now she is a vampire, a powerful one. And her past has come back to torment her.

I really liked how one chapter was modern and the next would be about her past.I thought it was really neat smile .

--- « soul's resonance » • That. Woman. Is. AMAZING. Such good books, and so young... I'm jealous...
And y'know, one thread for the whole Den of Shadows group would be better.
Have you seen the new covers? They're gorgeous! The only one I don't like more is the Shattered Mirror cover, simply because it doesn't have Nikolas and Kristopher on it. 3nodding • « can you hear it now? » ---

I only wanna post this once so since this was the first one, I'll put it in here:
I just all around think that Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is an amazing author. I wish she had more vampire books. All I'm missing is Wyvernhail and I'll have all her books.

Candycoated Toxins --- « soul's resonance »
And y'know, one thread for the whole Den of Shadows group would be better. cover, simply because it doesn't have Nikolas and Kristopher on it. 3nodding • « can you hear it now? » --- I thought of doing that but then I was like"Well it's not actually a continuous story..."And not everyone has read them.

The thing I love about her vampire books is that, while they are a series (with the same world and same characters in some cases), you don't have to read them in order to get what's happening. I read Demon in my View before I read In the Forests of the Night, and it made complete sense. Great books by such a young author. I aspire to be like her with my writing.
