User ImageName: Ryan Roswell
Age: 24
Height: 6'0
Weight: 170
Hair: Auburn
Eyes: Green (third eye is red)
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Occupation: Factory worker (automotive)

Powers: Ryan possesses a third eye in the middle of his forehead which he may open and close at will. While open, the eye is able to see 360 degrees around Ryan, providing him with a view of all directions at once. Additionally, the eye is capable of seeing in even pitch darkness and can peer through solid matter at will.

Perhaps the most profound ability the eye possesses is the power to see through time and provide Ryan with glimpses of the near future. When this ability first presented itself, Ryan could only look a few seconds ahead and only with great effort. But with practice, Ryan has become able to see up to 20 seconds ahead almost subconsciously. He believes that continued practice will yield even greater results.

Origin of Powers: Ryan is a mutant, born with his abilities which first began manifesting at age 12. He did not begin exploring his powers until 18, however, living in denial and fear of his powers throughout his adolescence.

Skills/Talents: An avid kick-boxer, Ryan is an amateur fighter who has fused his skill in melee combat with his power to see the future. This enables him to see his opponent's moves before they make them and strike with precision, countering and dodging with inhuman accuracy. He is virtually unbeatable in a toe-to-toe fight, even against multiple opponents.

Thanks to his job, Ryan is familiar with modern manufacturing methods. He is a hobby mechanic capable of basic repairs and maintenance to all sorts of automobiles. He's even rebuilt an old, gas-powered motorcycle which he drives (illegally) on weekends.

Weakness The word loser comes to mind. Ryan lacks any ambition in life and seems content to work his dead-end job, living alone in his studio apartment. He has difficulty getting motivated and has a rather cynical outlook on life. Despite being gifted with extraordinary abilities, he has no intention to use them for any great purpose.

While his third eye can remain open indefinitely, doing so identifies him as a post-human; a stigma he would prefer to avoid. In dangerous scenarios, he often wears a hat (since the eye can see through solid matter anyway) to hide it. Currently, his eye can only see 20 seconds into the future. A clever opponent who realized this could potentially set a strategic, timed trap to catch him off-guard.

Background: Born into the typical modern family, Ryan was an only child whose parents divorced when he was 7 years old. His father moved off to another city and had little to do with the boy apart from a card and cash every Christmas/birthday. He was a quiet kid all throughout school; a C student with few friends and a penchant for getting picked on by bullies. After several weeks of coming home with black eyes and bloody noses, his step-father enrolled him in kick-boxing classes. These lessons gave Ryan the structure and discipline he lacked in his home life and they became the bright spot he looked forward to each week. As his verbally abusive mother descended further and further into alcoholism and his spineless step-father grew more and more distant, Ryan began spending less time at home and more time at the dojo until, a day after high school graduation, he moved to Empire City and got a job at a local factory. He's been living the daily grind ever since, developing his powers and waiting, looking for something to put his life towards.

Name: Amy Callahan, "Silk"
Age: 19
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 115 lbs.
Hair: Chestnut Brown
Eyes: Olive Green
Ethnicity: American
Occupation: Fashion Design Student, Clothing Alterations Specialist
Appearance: From head to toe, Amy is a knockout. She turns heads when she walks and drops jaws when she stops. She often feels out of place when she receives the stares of everyone in the room: boys' looks of longing, and girls' looks of envy. She tries to suppress some of this, but there's a natural glow about her that makes her even more charismatic when she's hiding. Chestnut brown hair reaches just past her shoulders brushing past her face when left loose, and is just long enough to put up or into an elegant braid depending on the occasion. Her eyes are a deep green with blue and purple flecks in them, almost entrancing to behold. Her body seems to have gotten more than its fair share of endowment, causing some to think she may have had some surgery done; it's rather annoying to Amy how often she has to tell people they're natural.

Her normal attire is a cute and fashionable blouse for the season with a matching skirt, or more often warm pants in the winter. She wears a locket Micheal gave her when they were dating, and almost always keeps a jacket with her.

Powers: Amy has an incredibly strange power. Put simply, it is the ability to manipulate clothing, soft cloth in particular. She can weaken or strengthen material to a great degree such as making leather capable of stopping bullets or making a cotton shirt waterproof. In her hands, the clothing can be shaped almost immediately, making her jacket turn into a parachute, or jeans into a club and back again. She can also take a skirt, and turn it into a shirt almost instantaneously. She is however, limited to only reconstructing the material, and is unable to cut or hem the material without scissors or other cutting tool. Basically this means that if Amy were to change a dress into a bikini, there'd be a lot of fabric she'd need to remove somehow. She often runs into this sort of problem when making something sheer or lighter. The material often becomes much longer than what she expected and is almost always more of a mess than a help.

From a few feet away, she can make elastic constrict or expand, or shoelaces loose themselves. In addition, she can change the color, shape, or texture of the clothing in only a few seconds. With a little work, Amy can also change the fabric of one type to another entirely, as long as they are still somehow related by origin. Cotton, silk, leather, and wool, are all natural materials and thus can be transmuted into each other. Polyester, nylon, and most other man-made products are also interchangeable. However, since certain fabrics are denser than others, it may take more of one kind of fabric to get a suitable amount of another. For instance, it would take a lot of silk to create a leather jacket.

Amy doesn't exactly know the extent of her powers, or what causes it to actually occur, but the truth of the matter is that within her skin is a thin layer of woven thread. This thread is invisible to the eye and can twist and contort with perfect flexibility within a few feet from her. The thread almost seems to have a mind of its own, or is otherwise some sort of vessel of action for her thought. Usually, the thread moves through any cloth or cloth-like material and can reconstruct it as Amy thinks about it. The thread is nearly indestructible when fused with strong enough material to resist the impact. Whether in or out of her skin, the thread is almost indetectable by typical means. Barring microscopic observation, which is very difficult without extremely expensive equipment like nano-machines, it would take extremely fine senses to notice them even under direct study.

Most typical uses of Amy's abilities- Turning her jacket into a parachute, using a wristband as handcuffs, turning a pair of jeans into a club, using shoelaces as rope, increase the springiness of elastic and putting it under her shoes.

Origin of Powers: Amy's powers are the result of a unique mutation. They surfaced when Amy was about 12 years old and have sharpened more and more as time passed.

Skills/Talents: Amy is quite intelligent and has a knack for noticing detail. She is adept at most art, particularly fashion and sculpture. She has some college education and a decent understanding of photography.

Weakness Certain things make it very difficult for her to manipulate clothing. For instance, fire. Burning cloth is still burning. Amy can't reconstruct clothing out of nothing, so if clothing is set on fire, it's useless to her. When clothing is wet, it usually takes a lot longer for her to manipulate it. If manipulating someone else's clothing, she must be touching them for full effect, or within a few feet for minor effects. Zippers, buttons, and belts are very difficult for her to affect, due to them being outside of her normal realm of effect, but they can be affected as long as the clothing is not too tight.

Amy's parents are gone, and her grandmother died shortly after her 18th birthday, but her ex-boyfriend/best friend Micheal, and her boss Ida, are the closest people to her in her life. Micheal knows about her powers, but not the real extent of them, and Ida assumes something strange about her. Amy used to really like her agent, but now since it's been over a year since they last spoke, she's not sure if the agent cares about her anymore. She has several friends from college and only one real nemesis in her life currently: Brett, the agent from the adult film studios that seems to be constantly hounding her. Even after two address changes and four phone number changes he's been able to contact her, once a week, to offer her a job.

Amy can also be considered a very girly-girl. She's afraid of rats, spiders, bugs, lizards, and anything else that is "slimy and gross." She won't touch them, and has trouble keeping her wits about her around them.

Background: Amy was always an eye-catching girl, even from a young age. Her mother got her into modeling by the age of 6 and she had been doing it ever since. When her body began to develop around 12, she quickly gained more and more modeling jobs, and was even in several magazines for her age group. One modeling job changed her life forever.

The lead model for the shoot was being stubborn so they needed someone to take her place. Amy was given the clothes and rushed into a dressing room. Inside she noticed that the clothing looked a little grungy and ripped up. Without thinking, she fixed the clothes and changed into them. When the grinning young model stepped out of the dressing room the director was confused. He called the wardrobe manager over and shouted something about getting the right clothes this time. Later when her mother asked her how she fixed the clothes, it became obvious that it was unusual. Strangely, her mother never noticed how Amy's clothes never got worn out, or torn up, or even faded over the years. Amy now knew that this was something unique.

Unfortunately, Amy never mustered the courage to tell anyone about it, and she soon lost her chance. Her parents were taken in an accident just before her 15th birthday, leaving her devastated and alone. Her grandmother tried to help take care of her, but Amy was mostly self-sufficient by then. When she hit the age of 16 she was simply a stunning site to see, and was dropping the jaws of boys and men alike. With some convincing, her agents got her started in lingerie and swimsuit modeling and was becoming a small time celebrity even doing commercials for big time designers. Amy thought she had everything set in life for her before she hit 18. On her 18th birthday, a man approached her from the adult movie industry. The money was good, really good, but she wasn't willing to have sex on camera. Only a few weeks later she was almost completely shut out of the modeling industry and the offers from the adult studios continued to increase.

Later, her grandmother passed on leaving the need for money to grow and make the job offers appear more and more enticing. Eventually, Amy decided to step out of the spotlight completely and go to a community college for fashion design. She took up a part time job with a grouchy old woman name Ida. The job didn't pay well, but all she had to do was alter clothes, something she could do with a thought. And since Ida needed an apprentice and paid bonuses for exceeding quota, Amy managed to get by on the small wages. Amy advertised and brought in a much larger workload for Ida's business, and the old lady could hardly keep up. Eventually Ida was asking Amy for tips to speed up the process, to which Amy just smiled and said "practice." Amy was using her powers to keep up with the work and the store continued to show great profits. What normally took hours to alter properly, Amy could finish in minutes, so Amy not only had free time after completing the workload, but there was huge profit off the standard prices. Eventually, she started taking care of more and more of the financial aspects of the business to make sure it didn't go under. Ida was getting old and time seemed to be a completely subjective thing to her. Monthly bills stacked up and often it was up to Amy to make sure the equipment the store needed didn't get repossessed.

Amy started living in the apartment above the store, since Ida wasn't using it, and rent was getting too expensive uptown. The small shop was not exactly in the slums, but it was also not quite the greatest neighborhood either. One night, as Amy was finishing up her studying, she heard some noise from below. She gathered her courage and snuck down to see a burglar trying to steal some of the new equipment that Ida had just bought. Amy was frightened at first, but slowly gathered up her courage as he was getting ready to leave. She took a few quiet steps forward, but he must have heard her because he turned, almost as surprised as she was. Seeing that she was just a girl he tried to grab her and cover her mouth. Once she was grappled, she began to get scared, and started flailing trying to get loose. In doing so, she started causing his clothing to contort one way and tie around a support post, while she moved the other way. Rather than scream, while he still tried to gain control of the clothing, she quickly moved close and grabbed him, this time remembering that she could control the power. It quickly tied his hands behind his back and his legs together. Dumbfounded the man started to squirm and when he found he couldn't actually screamed in confusion. Thinking quickly, Amy pulled his collar around and into his mouth letting it tie securely in. When the cops came, they told her she did a good job, and when she thought about it, she agreed. From them on she became a sort of vigilante, attempting to stop some of the smaller time crooks and get them put in jail. Since everyone in the city wore clothes, she always had an advantage.

Amy has only been fighting crime for three months, and even then has only been doing it small time. The first few times guns were fired at her nearly scared her to death, but her nerve is slowly growing. As her courage grows, she tries to solve more and more dangerous situations.

Name: Vivian Mims
Age: 22
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 135 lbs.
Hair: short and dark, although she frequently dyes it or wears wigs
Eyes: blue
Ethnicity: Mixed Caucasian and Asian
Occupation: Musician/Dancer/Singer/Whatever else she can do to keep the bills paid.

Powers: Vivian is a mimic. She has muscle memory, so she can copy any movement she sees; Perfect Pitch, so she can recreate any sound she hears (within reason), including voices; and an eidetic memory, so she has perfect recall of anything she experiences. The only thing that would make her a better mimic is if she could actually shape-shift.

Origin of Powers: Vivian was born with her powers, although they only manifested when she turned thirteen. She has been forced to use her powers often, to make money, and so she is fairly accomplished at using them. Also, because of the subtle nature of her powers, she can use them out in the open without too much trouble.

Skills/Talents: She has become a master at manually changing her appearance. She keeps her real hair very short, so she has no trouble pulling on a wig, if she needs to. She's used her muscle memory to train herself in things as diverse as playing instruments, dancing, picking locks, and fighting.

Weakness She's naive, greedy, self-serving, and not a little arrogant. She makes the mistake of thinking she's infallible and indestructible. She also has a fondness for alcohol, men, shiny things, and chocolate. Her younger brother is probably the only person she'd die for.

Background: Vivian ran away from home, a one-room apartment on the edge of ground zero, about a month before her powers manifested. She was thirteen. Her mother was a prostitue with a drug problem, and her father was an abusive alcoholic whose job seemed to consist of standing in the unemployment line. Vivian was the third of four children. Her older brothers, Tom and David, were shaping up to be just like her father, and Vivian didn't want her younger brother, Kevin, to turn out like that. So, she took him and ran.

That first month was hell. Vivian was thirteen, and Kevin was eight, and Vivian always had to worry about everything: Money, food, clothes, where they were going to sleep, until one day. Vivian and Kevin had ducked into an electronics store for the free air conditioning, when Vivian heard a song on the overhead system. Strangely, she felt a gripping compulsion to sing.

As the song poured out, she noticed she sounded exactly like the original singer. She used this ability to get cash by singing on street corners. Once she found out about the muscle memory, she added instrumentals and dancing to the act. Eventually, she moved from steet corners to actual venues. She makes enough money to keep herself and Kevin off the street and fed.

Name: Artemisia Michaela Gerrard
Age: 23
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 100 lb.
Hair: Red
Eyes: Bright green
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Occupation: In-house laboratory participant for Tri-Global Enterprises

Powers:

On her own, Artemisia is an entirely normal human being with no special powers at all. Proximity to superhumans brings her particular gift to light. If another superhuman comes close to her (usually within 20 feet or less), Artemisia's physical presence is enough to start inverting their powers if/when they use them. Cryokinetics (fire summoners) begin summoning ice, those with super-strength weaken, illusionists' images start becoming reality, and living shadows shine like beacons in her presence.

The inversion on the edges of her area of effect (15-20 feet distance) is erratic and unpredictable at first and becomes more complete and consistent the closer superhumans get to her. For example, a cryokinetic 20 feet away from her who started using his powers would start summoning ice in random spurts and surges; as he got closer, he'd start summoning ice more consistently until he was in direct physical contact with her, at which point his powers would be completely inverted. If Artemisia focuses, she can temporarily control other people's inverted superpowers as long as she maintains physical contact. Her powers only affect other genetic superhumans (mutants, artificial superhumans, etc.). They do not affect individuals whose superpowers are the result of skills or technology, and they do not affect users of magic and the supernatural.

((NOTE: Artemisia's powers WILL affect other PCs' powers if they meet the appropriate criteria:
1) PC is within 20 feet of Artemisia.
2) PC's powers are "on" or active.
3) Powers have a genetic basis.
As long as it makes sense/is possible, I'll collaborate with other players on their characters' inverted powers via PM. I'll try to make sure the inverted powers are functional or at least not crippling, but the fact remains that simple enhancements like super-strength and super-speed only logically have bad consequences when inverted. If you absolutely don't want your character's powers to be affected, your character can either not use powers around her, stay a decent distance from her, or possess non-genetic powers--implants, magic, technology, mad skills, etc. The inversion effect cannot be turned "off," expanded, contracted, or altered by Artemisia or anyone else except, of course, with another ability that manipulates superpowers.))

Origin of Powers:

As the daughter of two other superhumans, Artemisia's powers are completely genetic. They began manifesting themselves weakly when she was a toddler, and were fully developed by age four. She didn't realize she had the ability to control people's inverted powers until she started participating in lab tests in her late teens; she's been developing that aspect of her powers in controlled settings for several years.

Skills/Talents:

Artemisia's upbringing heavily influenced her current skills. She is intelligent and very well educated, having had some of the world's best scientists as her guardians and tutors in childhood. She's quite familiar with cutting-edge research equipment simply as a function of spending most of her life in lab stations. She moved around a lot as a child and learned to be adaptable, capable of thriving in new and unfamiliar situations.

As a result of more or less living in Tri-Global's headquarters for the past several years with lots of time on her hands, Artemisia has picked up a smattering of random skills and hobbies. She can shoot passably well, repair simple machinery, and knows basic hacking and programming. However, her favorite hobby is martial arts, specifically the brand used by Tri-Global's guards which focuses on flexibility in combat and rapid incapacitation.

Weakness

Artemisia has absolutely no control over her powers whatsoever, except when she's controlling someone else's inverted powers. The inversion itself just happens automatically. When controlling the powers of another superhuman, she needs to maintain intense mental focus and is very vulnerable to attack. As of right now, she can only keep control of their powers for a few minutes or so. After she breaks physical contact, she's usually drained from the effort. As a result, her ability to use other superhumans' inverted powers is, for all intents and purposes, limited to people who are willing or incapacitated. She also lacks any other powers, making her just as vulnerable as a normal person to attacks from non-superhumans or post-humans with technologically-based powers.

Her inability to control the inversion severely limits her ability to work with other superhumans or even live in close proximity to them. Some inverted abilities are just as useful or even more useful than the original ability, but other powers like super-strength become a crippling weakness. As a result, she tends to avoid associating with other superhumans (who are often ambivalent toward her at best) and prefers the company of normal people. She is very conscious of her powers and doesn't venture outside Tri-Global's headquarters often for fear of accidentally interfering with other people's powers while in public. This limits her movement, especially in a city with as much size and variety as Empire.

Most importantly, Artemisia has led a rather sheltered life. Due to a combination of her parents' efforts, the generosity of her patron Dr. Green, and sheer luck, she's never had to deal with any real hardship or difficulty. While hardly pampered, the security and stability of her life has made her complacent and naive about the troubles that the world is facing.

Background:

Had she had a more "normal" superpower, Artemisia Gerrard's life would have been very, very different. She was born on the island of Eden to superhuman parents. Her mother Cecelia was gifted with invulnerability to physical damage, her father Ethan with summoning repulsive force fields. Their daughter exhibited no special powers of her own at all until she was a toddler. While summoning force field "bubbles" to amuse his daughter, her father noticed that he occasionally summoned vortices when he was sitting too close to the girl. After a few more months of careful watching, they realized the nature of their daughter's powers.

Ethan and Cecelia quickly recognized that Artemisia's powers meant she could never have anything approaching a functional life if she remained on Eden. For their daughter's sake, the Gerrards left the island and moved back to Empire City, citing family reasons for their departure. The entire time they lived on Eden, they were very, very careful not to tell anyone else about Artemisia's powers.

Artemisia's childhood was quite happy and functional, if rather strange. Her inversion abilities meant that Ethan never used his powers around his daughter, and Cecelia (whose physical invulnerability was replaced by a psychic one) couldn't afford to be as careless as she usually was. Her parents found work (and still work) with an exploration company funded by Tri-Global, which was using both cutting-edge technology and superhumans' powers to explore the extreme regions of the world for untapped resources. While her parents were diving the Mariana Trench or searching the tundra, Artemisia stayed behind in the laboratory stations with the normal human scientists, her tutors and guardians.

Around her late teenage years, when the PHV virus was becoming a crisis in the post-human community, a scientist named Dr. Jordan Green who'd been a long-time friend of the Gerrards and Artemisia's childhood tutor noticed that Artemisia's powers only affected those with the x-factor in their genome--only mutants and artificial superhumans. He realized that her ability of inversion was sensitive to that particular genetic sequence, and she could be extremely valuable to future research into the x-factor, Faust, and a possible cure for PHV. Dr. Green ran the idea past his superiors and offered Artemisia employment with Tri-Global in his laboratory.

She accepted and continues to work for Tri-Global today under Dr. Green's supervision. In exchange for room, board, a considerable stipend, and full employee benefits from the company, Artemisia participates in non-invasive tests and experiments for Dr. Green on a daily basis, sometimes alone and sometimes with other superhumans. About twice a year, she goes in for a more extensive set of biopsy tests. Dr. Green's research has been very promising thus far, opening new doors into understanding the mutant genome.

For her own part, Artemisia doesn't mind being used for research. She believes that a better understanding of the x-factor will help superhumans and ordinary humans alike. Having lived a life from the inside of the company, she recognizes that corruption is inevitable whenever money and power are involved, but doesn't see Tri-Global as particularly malevolent. Dr. Green keeps her informed on the general direction of his research so she can see what she's contributing to.

Name: Andrew Benton
Age: Twenty-Eight
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 152 lbs
Hair: Bright, dirty blonde hair usually loosed freely in a wild manner most would consider improper and messy and to others as free spirited or relaxed.
Eyes: Bright green eyes usually hidden behind Andrew’s thick, horizontal, steel rimmed glasses.
Ethnicity: Asian
Occupation: Co-founder of the Denim Tech Repair Company.

Powers: De-Atomization, as Andrew refers to it, has become something he is not wholly able to explain nor decide if he accepts it as an aspect he can ever admires. He has developed theories on defining the limits of his ability, which has only become more of an aggravation the more he dwells on the subject. The best way to describe the De-Atomization process is that through Andrew’s finger tips lay the ability to dismantle any object of mass. Whether he manipulates the atoms that make up the object to dismantle the fixed form they make up, spreading out into a vast distance until the object itself is dismantled, disappearing entirely, leaving no trace behind, or if he really does simply destroy anything by touch. He has concluded that it is a chain reaction process that allows the procedure of destroying the item to occur. However, he seems to still have influence over where the destruction ends so it does not continue in a massive destruction of all mass that he touches.

An unconscious awareness of De-Atomization appears to stop Andrew from this to get out of hand, including the destruction of his own body from his own touch. Thus, it is like a triggered chemical reaction that requires the ever so subtle tip of the iceberg to activate. This has become something that Andrew realizes with interest and fear. Mass De-Atomization has indeed haunted his dreams too often to ignore. The realization that the wrong propulsion could send an entire building of matter and people into nothing in a matter of seconds.

In experimenting with the ability to help understand its limits, Andrew has discovered it has little in its way that can be considered an obstacle. De-Atomitizing something from a distance required the simple task of drawing an imaginary line that leads to the desired object and effect and then the process as simple as lighting the fuse. This takes a vast amount of concentration at his current level of experience, leaving him greatly exasperated from the action.

Origin of Powers: Although he was born to a family that had appeared to be limiting in the meta-human gene, Andrew’s ability has surfaced recently, proving otherwise. The power did not show itself until late in the twenty-fifth year of his life, which became a terrible interruption in his already stable life. He has not adjusted well, increased paranoia on the revealing nature of his mutant powers have been a concern that has stayed with him ever since.

Skills/Talents: Due to his position in the company he co-founded Andrew has adequate experience as a repairman for most technical devices as well as a novice hacker in this digital age. Most anything that deals with wires he can disable. With the spare time between clients, he works out mostly or takes walks, keeping himself fit enough for anything that might call for physical endurance. Through continuos lies and actions in keeping himself out from discovery, Andrew has developed a profound ability to lie his way out of most situations and otherwise being able to make himself inconspicious.

Weakness: Due to the destructive nature of his ability, Andrew has taken extreme measures to limit the risk that comes with the simple existence of De-Atomization. No actual physical contact with others is an absolute rule that he holds in the highest. He has surprisingly done well with this, making a number of subtle gestures to help avoid any strangeness of the lack of such actions as common as shaking hands. In those instances where he must make contact, he nearly always wears a pair of gloves, keeping a large stockpile of them in his apartment. The excuse is usually due to his work with electronics and that his hands are naturally chilled. This has made romantic relationships altogether out of the question. Daily rituals in clearing his mind from images of the destructive aftermaths of any accidents that might occur are much like a nervous hobby he continually forces himself into. He is more fearful of the formula that his daily life has now been going on for years to be abruptly changed and forever being labeled as something undesired in the society he grew up in.

The growing paranoia of an incident stands in the way of doing much more than locking himself in his apartment, although he enjoys daily and nightly walks to help clear his mind. He’s not one to go out of his way, staying in the background as much as possible to help avoid attention, but drawn to scenes like a moth to a flame. The constant fear of accidently murdering a person is a drain on his will to fight, taking any chance to instead make a run for safety or escape more often if conflict arises. He’s frightful in indulging in his ability too much, but amazed at what he can achieve through it. He is also a subtle alcoholic.

Background: For the better half of his life as he remembers it, Andrew was viewed as a genetically normal human. Any involvement or interest in any news concerning Meta-humans came from overhearing the many conversations of his parents, one of the many anti-mutant thinking couples in the Empire city. Despite this, he grew up with a heavily neutral standpoint on mutant discussions, especially when he entered many debates with friends, becoming the incarnate of the devil’s advocate. Following through high school, he grew more accustomed to working with machines and along with his best friend, Inigo Farquat, settled on building a public repair unit and some day moving upward into business with Tri-Global Enterprises.

During his college years, he became more engrossed in the mutant politics, speaking openly about his concerns on both sides, but showing more commitment towards supporting humans and pushing the mutant populace into a closed off zone such as Omni’s Eden. He applied in a degree in mechanical development and repair as well as business, following according to his and Inigo’s hopeful aspirations. Both could agree on all matters almost without disagreement, growing earnestly for their company.

It turned into a harder deal than thought of. The fine act of advertisement as well as sustaining monthly rent became a dangerous facet of their lives. In the third year after the start of the company, things got easier to maintain now that they were able to widen their service to other parts of the city. With a larger staff, accumulating to a total of fourteen working personnel on call 24/7, Andrew and Inigo quickly began talking about any further developments that could be made. However, in the middle of this burst of success, Andrew discovered his own unnatural qualities. Sitting in a local bar late in the evening, making a quick stop before heading home after a quick call that turned out to be a loose wire in the circuitry, he was four shots in and feeling rather stoked about the pay. The fifth became a difficult matter to settle. As he was nursing the alcohol, rolling the glass carefully between his hands, he felt a surge of damp and sticky brew dousing his hands and running along the table. In the low lighting he suspected the glass had simply been tipped over. Even four shots could do that to him, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise. He spent up to seven minutes looking for the shot glass.

Similar circumstances occurred spontaneously throughout the following week. From tools, clothes, and even windows on numerous occasions, Andrew began to panic in hiding as much of his peculiar behavior as possible. He decided to finally come to terms with his power after an incident with a client where he destroyed every wire in a faulty circuit board, quickly disguising it as sabotage. When pressed he questioned back and was lucky enough to discover the client had their home broken into the previous day. Using the rare chance that was given, he was fixed on developing control as well as providing as much focus towards the company.

Name:
Dianna (Diaphanous)
Age:
20
Height:
5'4", though she can change this with some focus
Weight:
Cannot be Weighed
Hair:
Wispy platinum blonde, cut in choppy layers to her shoulders. Usually held up in a sloppy twist.
Eyes:
Pale, dead-looking blue, wide and child-like shape.
Ethnicity:
Germanic features, Caucasian origin.
Occupation:
Self-Assigned Guardian

Powers:
Atomic Ill-Composition

Origin of Powers:
For nine years she was kept as an experiment in a secret facility, until such a time came that she actually tried escaping. After all the tests, her atoms no longer knew precisely how to align themselves, and subconsciously she had been keeping her body in one piece by will alone. She escaped by spreading her atoms apart far enough that she could simply pull herself through the only wall between her and the rest of the world, then drag herself up through about twenty feet of dirt.

Skills/Talents:
Diaphanous, by her natural state is more or less ephemeral at best, phantom-like at worst. She is able to pull herself into a solid body with minimal effort, however she is most comfortable while "relaxed." Wears metal circlets around each ankle and wrist to draw off of for sense of "solidness". Diaphanous has learned a way to imitate flight by loosening her body so that wind can carry her, and then adjust her body's weight according to gusts and vents to regulate a flight pattern. If avoiding someone, she is able to force her atoms beyond their "relaxed" state and make herself nearly invisible, though through a person's peripheral, the general area where she is will shimmer just slightly as her atoms try and pull back together. Her most useful trick though is, if she is aware of a threat, can make any blow thrown her way, any bullet fired, go right through her, unaffected. By focusing on the spot where the blow should land, and then pulling it apart, she can make herself completely intangible, and essentially untouchable.

Weakness
If she attempts to move through solid objects, it takes a lot of effort to make sure she doesn't lose body parts or internal organs in the process. She must make every inch of her body intangible, then mentally drag it through other, usually less cooperative, atoms. Flight is only usable in big cities, as few other places have enough vents and breezes to keep her buffeted up. Her intangibility is also limited by her reaction time. After being shot, she can remove the bullet, but cannot remove the wound. As a safeguard she usually keeps herself mostly intangible anyway, but this limits her ability to interact with people, leaving Diaphanous feeling very isolated.

Background:
"They killed my brother, you know," she said suddenly, looking up from her folded hands into the bright light again. The shadowed man beyond said nothing, and she immediately looked back to the ground, between her dirty feet at the steel floor below. Shivering from both the imparted chill of the metal surfaces all around her and the foreboding terror gripping her gut, she continued talking. "That's why I was out on my own. My mother," hands fisted themselves in the hem of her denim shorts, "That woman... She brought him to them. My father did, too." Unconsciously, her hands relaxed and she began to rub the fabric smooth over her upper legs, eventually moving to hold her knobby knees awkwardly in each skinny hand.

"We didn't have time to get to the hospital, she was a month early, so my dad, who's a doctor anyway, had her give birth in the living room. I was supposed to stay in the kitchen and boil water for towels. I would have too, if my mom hadn't been yelling so much. I had to come and see. I watched my brother be born, and he was one of the most beautiful children I've ever seen." Her head shot up briefly, peering suspiciously into the dark beyond the lamp aimed at her face. She was curious as to why the light didn't reflect better, but then again, she was also curious as to why she was here, who the people who took her were, and what in God's name were they going to do to her, but none of those questions had been answered when she screamed them, so it seemed a waste to try again.

"He had these feathers," she said, tracing her fingers around her hairline, then cheekbones and jawline, eventually gesturing vaguely at the shoulders and outward, keeping her eyes trained on invisible eyes all the while, "And they were all these different colours, like a parrot or something. It was mostly downy, but there were a few shiny, slick feathers there. And on his shoulder blades," she gestured again towards her back, looking at where she assumed the man in the suit's face was, "There were these little growths, I guess they would've been wings one day-- I wouldn't say he looked human, but I don't think he really looked... not-human, you know? When you looked at him, you just always got this distinct impression of far-off jungles and tigers roaring and flapping wings. He seemed like a little bird, but if you looked again, it was really obvious he was just a baby, still all pink-faced and stuff. And there was just the right shape to his nose..." Pausing, she bit her lip, dropping her hand from where she'd been about to touch the tip of her own nose, glancing to the side at where the light reflected back to her off of a mirrored wall. "He wasn't really breathing when he came out, and neither of my parents could do anything, they were just so shocked that she had given birth to a," her lip curled and her nose wrinkled, affecting the deeper, gruffer tone of her father,
"A filthy, unnatural whelp of a mutant."

"When my mother saw him, she fainted. My dad just sat there, staring at the baby in his hands, still attached to my mother by his umbilical cord. I ran over to them and neither of them reacted when I took him, he was all sticky and looked so pale the longer I waited, and I had just didn't know what to do. I smacked him across the butt, like I saw doctors do in movies before, and suddenly he squawked. Like a little bird." Giggling softly, she explained fondly, "Then he looked at me, and even though I was a little scared by his eyes, all black like a baby bird would have, I was really happy to have a brother. He was mine, and I could tell he knew it." Her expression clouded and eyebrows worked together as she continued, "Almost as soon as I'd gotten him giggling though, my dad took him back. My dad pushed me. He yelled for me to leave. I went to my room. Mom and Dad had an argument for a long time. The baby was crying for a lot of it, but they didn't stop or quiet down. For the next week or two, my mother took care of the baby and cried a lot. I'd only seen her cry that much one other time."

Her tone took on a colder edge again, eyes narrowing into angry slits. "That woman had miscarried once, when I was four. She was trying to give me a sister. She cried for ages. After what she did to my brother, I think she deserved it, even if it wouldn't happen for a few more years." Sticking her chin out hatefully, she affirmed, "Karma." Being only eleven, the gesture was vaguely diminished by the childish pout she wore.

Shooting up from her chair, the metal thing clattering back with a cla-ang, she planted her hands on the table and growled at the man. "After he was old enough, they took him to town. This was before that War, so it wasn't long before my father had roused a mob to
'destroy the thing.' My mother helped." Lines of wet streaked from her eyes to her jaw then dripped onto the cold metal surface of the table, though she forced herself to keep staring into the dark where she knew a face must be. "I left. I ran away. I wasn't anything special. Wasn't a genetic malformation. By all means, I was safe. But I couldn't stay in the house when I knew what they'd done. What they might do to other people." Her head jerked briefly, a sharp nod uncoordinated by purposeful thought, and bit out, "The swine thought themselves benefactors, people of some high moral standing, when all they'd done was destroy a child. I wasn't able to leave that night, and it hurt to wait, but I did. I waited until I was ten, double digits," she sneered, "And then I ran away, taking all my favourite things with me and the disposable with all the pictures of my brother I'd been able to take when my parents weren't looking."

Finished with that part of her story, her body shifted away from the table, her arms tentatively wrapping in a protective shell around her torso, and her gaze returned to the floor as she backed up slowly, eventually bumping into the back wall. "That's probably how you found me. I didn't do so well on my own." Rubbing her arms in a useless attempt to garner some warmth, Dianna looked up just in time for the lamp, the only light source in the room, to flick off, leaving her in total darkness.

... Just over nine years later, a woman who called herself "Diaphanous" escaped her holding facility and disappeared into the world, wide-eyed, scared, and fiercely determined to "protect the children."

Name:
Jane and John (nicknamed Gemini, to address both at once)
Age:
16 and 17
Height:
5'10" and 5'11"
Weight:
147 and 169
Hair:
Deep rusty red; both wear their hair cropped short.
Eyes:
Deep green with greyed edges.
Ethnicity:
Scottish by appearance, Caucasian by birth.
Occupation:
N/A

Powers:
John - Physical Manipulation
Jane - Psychic Manipulation

Origin of Powers:
Neither of their parents were post-humans. Their mother being a workaholic of a woman and their father (if they knew nothing else about him) being an alcoholic, neither (though the father was really only present the first three months of John's life, during which Jane was conceived) ever knew of the children's genetic mutations. For as long as they've been around each other they've had their powers. As far back as their memories go, neither can remember ever not being able to use their powers.

Skills/Talents:
John is able to create something out of nothing, while Jane is able to make the mind believe whatever she wants. By focusing, John can pull and bend the threads of reality to create more or less whatever he wants, and Jane, with an equal amount of focus, can convince a person they are someone different, that their circumstances or phenomenally different, and to an extent, cause nightmares or dreams.

Weakness
Jane cannot fully cast her visions into John's mind for whatever reason, though she can give him impressions of ideas. The further John is from his sister, whether due to their separation anxiety or someone unseen force, he is increasingly unable to use his powers. At about a mile away, his powers become practically non-existent. Jane's powers, while they do not rely on her brothers presence, can be broken if the person knows she is messing with their mind. Also, though her powers also grant her minor control over short-term memory, the deeper into the brain she probes, the greater the chance of the person retaining brain damage or going into a coma.

Jane and John also suffer violent mood swings when apart, are exceedingly protective of each other, and if threatened with an actual chance of separation, will bend to any degree to avoid it. Even if for John it didn't mean a weakening of his powers if separated, the siblings share a genuine desire to just stay together regardless. Over time they have developed emotional walls between themselves and the rest of the world, and even the most minute, hairline fracture in that wall is met with unnecessary hostility.

Background:
Their mother, for most of Jane and John's childhood, saw them for maybe a cumulative hour everyday. The woman was a workaholic, and this left John to raise his little sister, and once they were older, left the two to examine and develop their powers together. When they were enrolled in pre-school, their mother lied and claimed them to be twins, so she could keep the two together, already rather attached, and also avoid having to keep Jane in daycare while John was in pre-school. It was easy to get away with too, as they had relatively similar features, same hair and eyes, but most importantly, they seemed to always know where the other was, or always know what the other was thinking, giving off that weird, "twinnish" vibe.

While friendly to the other children, teachers often ended up sending reports to their mother home over how anti-social Jane and John came off as. After the first time they were talked to by their mother about this, Jane agreed in a silent conference with John to give the teacher the impression that they were playing with children. Her powers, unlike his, came very naturally, most minor nuances like body language and adult gestures appearing in her mind almost unbidden, but she could comprehend them, and implemented them into her "visions" accordingly. While they didn't fully realize at the time that they were special, they kept their powers to themselves anyway, putting the first of many layers of their wall into place.

As they aged, Jane's skill became slightly more sophisticated, and John's creations became less rudimentary, more alike to the original of what he wanted to make. She was able to pull on people's own personal dreams and fears more naturally, and his replaced vases and drinking glasses became less difficult to imagine. Public school helped it along, as Jane was exposed to more people, more diverse personalities, and John was taught the basics of how things worked, how pieces fit together. In high school, they enrolled in all the same classes, absorbing Psychology teachings and Biology lessons like water in the desert. By the end of freshman year, John was able to make small rudimentary creatures, like flies, or in one spectacularly successful case, a small frog.

With age, they also began to contemplate their positions in society more seriously. They acknowledge the tension between humans and post-humans, but consider it a separate matter, not something really connected to themselves. Bullies at their schools though, they did consider important. In grade school, they would often give bullies images of themselves suffering the same punishment they gave others, and if that didn't solve the problem, John would put a fowl-smelling sludge of unknown origins into the bully's stuff, like a lunch box, then into lockers and backpacks as they and their aggressors grew. At one point, Jane and John would even sneak out in the night and go to a persons house, menacing their dreams with terror and then John would leave some kind of remnant of the dream into the persons room, like a tooth belonging to a fantasy beast or a jagged shard of glass from one dream in particular that involved falling through forty floors of plate glass windows.

It was at this point though, things began to go bad. As they grew more skilled, they became more careless, and it was when John created an apple in the middle of class while the teacher was staring right at him that they had to run away. Jane had been behind him, absent-mindedly casting the concepts the teacher was explaining to other students as a means of clarifying and helping her fellows keep the class average up, and meeting very few problems. John wasn't paying attention, as he tended to do during test reviews, and hadn't noticed the teacher pointedly asking him a question, more occupied with making organic material, something that was still a bit beyond his grasp. After hearing the teacher take a few high-heeled steps back, he looked up, as did Jane, and they both paled, out of their chairs and leaving the room with little more conference than an accusing look John threw over his shoulder at Jane.

In the hall, they argued, Jane walling the group inside the classroom in with a mental stupor to hold them off. It was only five minutes they talked, but it was their first argument, and went spectacularly well, all things considering. They went home, stealing a teachers car to do so, John making a rough key instead of bothering with hot-wiring it, where they gathered their things into two duffel bags. They stopped by their mothers workplace and told her they were leaving, why, where to, and then turned heel and walked back out before she could say a thing. Ditching the car, at a train station, they hitched a ride to Empire City, and after examining the brighter side of the city for a few seconds stuck out their tongues and turned to head straight for Ground Zero.

Jane assigned herself the job of making them look like two young adults, most often a couple, to explain away their unnerving closeness, while John took on the responsibility of learning the composition of weapons and solid furniture, to house and protect them in the slums.

Name: "Wither"
Age: 47
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 122 lbs.
Hair: White
Eyes: Brown
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
Occupation: Assassin

Powers: Decay Wither's main power is to power to drain the life force of anything she touches and age it. She rusts iron, makes flowers wilt, ages people and animals. However, she becomes younger as she does this, so though she is nearing fifty, she has the body and mind of a woman half her age. Except for her hair. For whatever reason, her hair gives away her true age, as it refuses to regain its color. Victims of her attack can recover fully after a few days rest.

Power Absorption Wither has only used this power once. When she drains a superhuman of all of their life force, she gains their powers. The one and only time she employed this aspect of her power it was an accident. It was during the Seven day war, and she was holding hands with her brother while they were running, and without meaning to, she drained him. He had the ability to cause wings to grow out of his back. If she fully drains a normal human, or one not born with their powers, it does not have this effect.

Flight A power wither seldom employs, despite the fact that she pulls out her wings often. The wings remind her of her brother. One of her wings is black, and the other is white, although her brother's wings were both white. She is able to fly short distances, not exceeding five miles.

Origin of Powers: She was born with her powers. When her mother was pregnant with her, the doctor was astounded that she seemed to age ten years during her pregnancy.

Skills/Talents: Sex appeal comes to mind. Wither knows that she is an attractive woman, and does not think herself 'above' flirting (or worse) to get what she wants.

Weakness: Wither's main weakness is the wracking guilt over the death of her brother, and it was this that Omni used to secure her loyalty in the first place. She is serving him to 'atone' for her crime by ridding the world of the ones who are 'truly responsible' for his death, namely anti-mutant governments and corporations.

Another weakness is that when she absorbs powers, they seem to come to her only partially. Her brother, in addition to his wings, which were far stronger than they have ever been on her, could see air currents, and had hollow bones. Wither has neither of these traits, which is partially to blame for her weakness in flying, and her reluctance to fly in the first place.

Background: Nakia Abednego was born in Medina, Saudi Arabia to Elam and Basma Abednego, she was the second child, and the youngest. Her mother was not able to bear more children after she was born. The doctors were alarmed, as they said it was like she'd aged ten or fifteen years during the span of her pregnancy. After the baby was born and handed off to her nanny, however, her mother recovered. She was five before she learned to control her powers at all, and was small for her age because of them.

She and her elder brother, Hani, were very close growing up. Their parents never seemed to have time for them, but that might have happened even if they'd not had powers. Their nanny loved them very much, however, and called them her Miracle Children. When they were old enough, they moved to America, were they hoped mutants were treated better. This was not the case, however, and they found themselves stranded far from home during the Seven Day War, during which, Nakia accidentally took her brother's power and his life. Afterwards, in her guilt and anger, she joined up with Omni, and became Wither.

"Foolish creature. You would be better off trying to slay a mountain or wound the sea. Do you truly think that death can die?"

Name: Morrigan
Age: 22
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 135 lb.
Hair: Naturally dark brown/black
Eyes: Naturally ice-blue
Ethnicity: Mixed Middle Eastern and European
Occupation: Infiltrator/Assassin

Powers:

Biomass manipulation Morrigan possesses control over that which is central to all people--life and death, and everything in between. She can mold the biological material of any living (or recently dead and more or less intact) organism at will with just a touch, changing everything from genetic makeup, health, species, gender, even life and death. Although her powers could be used for healing and good, Morrigan typically uses her most feared ability--literally wiping the life from another with just a simple touch.

Doppleganger Her control over biomass includes herself, giving her shapeshifting and doppleganger capabilities within limitations.

Regeneration As a side-effect of her powers, Morrigan can constantly repair her own body on a molecular level, making her extremely difficult to injure or kill unless literally ripped to shreds. So long as her powers, will, body, and mind remain mostly intact, she is essentially immortal.

Origin of Powers:

Though her powers are genetic in basis, they have been significantly enhanced by gene therapy programs done on her as a very young child by Omni's scientists. She has no recollection of these experiments.

Skills/Talents:

Trained for infiltration and murder, Morrigan knows everything key to the assassin's art. She knows how to hack security networks and computers, use most standard military-issue weapons, and sneak into buildings undetected. Since most of her missions involve killing one specific individual and making it look like an accident, Morrigan has become very good at erasing evidence and covering her tracks. Usually, the only evidence of her hand in a kill is the complete lack of evidence at all. She dislikes outright combat, finding it crude and preferring subterfuge, but she is quite good at jujitsu and a few other schools of martial arts that emphasize lots of body contact, giving her more opportunity to use her powers in a fight.

Although she finds sexuality degrading, Morrigan understands the appeal of attractiveness. Her natural appearance is moderately pretty, and she tends to stick to that for the most part. When she wishes to, she can alter her physical appearance into one of stunning beauty.

Weakness

The laws of physics still have to be obeyed. Morrigan is only able to change the composition of living material, not create matter from nothing or make it disappear. Organisms retain their mass; for example, Morrigan could not transform a small animal like a mouse to a large animal like an elephant. The amount of time she has to touch something depends on the degree of the transformation. Solidifying someone's blood is easy and takes nothing more than a millisecond of contact--turning them into a completely different species of organism is difficult and could take up to a minute of direct contact for changes across phylum, several minutes across kingdom. The only person this time rule does not apply to is herself.

Changing an organism from one species to another or one organism to another does completely transform that organism, body and mind. If she transforms a person into a large dog, they do not retain their memories or mental faculties. While this is useful against her enemies, it means that Morrigan's doppleganger abilities are limited to shapeshifting herself to resemble other people, and only in part. She does not completely transform herself into another person, opting to adjust her superficial facial features and body size. She also needs a reasonably accurate image of what she's changing to and from. She could, in theory, pull a stunt like giving herself gills to breathe underwater, but since that requires a complete restructuring of her body organs that she finds very unpleasant, she typically opts for technological solutions unless she really has no choice.

Morrigan's superpowers are all based on direct contact with another living thing. With concentration, she can use her powers through ordinary clothing, but not armor or any kind of significant physical barrier. She is also limited to actual living organisms, or formerly living organisms that still possess the potential for life. Though capable of restoring life to a mostly intact body, she cannot manipulate things like cotton, mulch, food, and other organic matter since these items are neither living nor capable of becoming organisms in and of themselves.

As far as personality is concerned, Morrigan is simply a sociopath. Lust, hate, anger, joy, rage, love...these are just words to her. She feels absolutely nothing but an occasional but powerful compulsion to kill. On one hand, she is capable of assessing each situation completely dispassionately, always choosing the most logical path. She also lacks anything resembling a conscience, making her the perfect contract killer. On the other hand, her sociopathy makes it impossible for Morrigan to fully understand other people, and difficult for her to blend in. She rarely conducts long-term spying or infiltration operations for precisely this reason. Animals strongly dislike her since they sense something inherently wrong with her. She has learned to tame her urge to kill, funnel it toward Omni's enemies, but she can only control the desire for so long before she becomes wantonly destructive with no regard for allies or enemies.

In many ways, Morrigan is more like a machine than a person, at least in her manner of thinking. She has immense knowledge and power, but she consistently uses the methods that she knows best instead of thinking outside the box. She is uncreative and methodically logical when approaching a problem. But Morrigan's most (ironically) defining characteristic is a complete disregard for all life, including her own. She has no sense of empathy, nor any sense of self-preservation. Her tasks for Omni keep her give her a mental challenge and an acceptable outlet for her murderous urges; that is the sole reason she continues to serve the interests of Eden.

Background:

In the aftermath of the 7 Days War, a girl named Lillith Jinevra Smith was born to two ordinary parents living in the suburbs of a small British city. There was absolutely nothing outwardly remarkable about her in her infancy, but one of Omni's agents, gifted with the ability to sense other superhumans, was passing through her area when he sensed tremendous power like a beacon coming from one of the houses. Several weeks later, the local news buzzed with the brutal and seeming senseless murder of a couple in their suburban home, and the kidnapping of their daughter on the eve of the girl's second birthday. The police never found any solid leads on their murderers, or on the whereabouts of the girl. They quietly let the case slip away, one of hundreds of cold cases locked in the files more or less for good.

When Omni's agents brought the girl to Eden, it became clear that her powers were indeed formidable, but still latent. The superhuman scientists subjected her to several experimental (but essentially noninvasive) gene therapy programs, hoping to unlock her hidden potential. The programs worked, and she was renamed Morrigan to symbolize her rebirth as a superhuman. Unbeknownst to the agents of Omni who'd captured her and even to herself, the trauma of witnessing her parents' murder broke something inside her. From then on, she exhibited signs of sociopathy. She was unable to feel, unable to relate to other people whether superhuman or normal except for an occasional urge to kill. She was careful to hide it from the other inhabitants of Eden, restricting her impulses to killing animals and presenting herself as quiet and reserved. The other inhabitants of Eden, who were perhaps more used to quirky personalities, rarely suspected anything wrong with her.

Due to her incredible powers, Morrigan was quickly snapped up for Omni's shadow war against the cape-killers. She realized that assassination would provide a convenient and (relatively) constructive way of dealing with her murderous impulses, and capitalized on the opportunity. She learned to pretend to be as dedicated to Omni's cause as any of her other super-terrorist compatriots, and quickly rose in the ranks of his assassins. Morrigan currently operates out of Eden, but more and more of her time is spent on hit missions. She works best alone or with one or two other elite assassins, lacking the genuine interpersonal skills to work effectively with a full team of post-humans.

Name: Asura Kourimizu
Age: 18
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair: blue
Eyes: light blue
Ethnicity: Japanese
Occupation: Lifeguard, swimming lesson teacher, and Swim Coach

Powers: Can liquidize his own body and absorb other nearby liquids

Origin of Powers: Resulted from human experimentation

Skills/Talents: Swimming, basic martial arts training, and being able to look at the big picture

Weakness: His powers give him an ongoing risk of hypothermia so he constantly has to make sure he doesn’t get too cold

Background: A man approached Asura one day and asked him to try new equipment that would help him swim faster than anyone else alive and finally get that Olympian medal that he's aspiring to claim. He was intrigued but still suspicious so he agreed as long as he could refuse at any point. He was brought to a mansion and given a room on one of the floors and was allowed to roam anywhere in the building while he stayed there. It was boring at first but after awhile he ran into another guy like himself who was brought here with the promise to be the best at what he did, he copiloted small aircraft, and then a few days after that one more guy appeared who was promised the same thing, and then a woman made her appearance in the mansion apparently under the same circumstances, so before it went too out of hand they decided to confront the man who brought them here, but he got to them first. Asura woke up imprisoned on a wooden bed with his head throbbing and his ears ringing before he blacked out again. This time when he woke up the ringing was gone and a wet towel was draped over his head. As he sat up and looked around he found himself in a dungeon looking room with the other three; Alwin the copilot, Ryusaki the pyrotechnic, and Jade the woman. As the ringing died Asura turned his head to the faint sound of footsteps approaching he discovered the man who had brought them all together.
“I see that you are all awake.” He stated looking around at all of them. “Now I believe it is time I explained the situation to you all. Starting now you each have been hired by me to be my personal thieves.”
“Thieves” Ryusaki cut off, “why would we want to be your thieves?”
“Because I have given each of you unique abilities that you’ll chose to exploit. Who wouldn’t want to work for the man who gave you powers?”
“Powers?” Alwin asked intrigued, “What kind of powers?”
“Each of you have been genetically changed to form with the four different states of matter,” He explained, “Alwin with gas, Jade with solid, Asura with liquid, and Ryusaki with plasma. Each of you can become your designated state and absorb any of the nearby state into you. Through my training you will learn to master your powers and once we have acquired enough funds you will help create and lead an army of others just like you. An army of Unstoppables!”
“And what makes you think we’ll help you. If we’re so strong than what’s preventing us from just leaving?” Ryusaki asked defiantly
“That question can be answered by looking at each of your ankles. Around them is a machine that will allow me to know where you are and what you’re doing. They change states as you do and are indestructible so don’t think you can break out of them. Oh and if you get any ideas, with a press of a button I can have them, and you wiped from this realm of existence.”
“What did you do to us!?” Jade spoke up for the first time
“I made you the best, better than you ever could have been and you are going to work for me or it will be the last decision you make.” With that he got up and left them in his dungeon to chew on his words.
After that they found themselves in the dungeon during the day and out burglarizing at night. The first time they tried the completely failed and barely made it out alive and unnoticed with nothing to show for it, but about a month later they had begun to control their powers and were getting better at robbing when they finally got a chance to be free of their chains. They had just robbed a bank and were leaving with the money when they where stopped by a cloaked man. He was tall and lean, the type of figure you would expect to snap under any pressure, and he walked directly in front of our path.
“I believe you carry something that doesn’t belong to you” He said to them in a voice that seemed too deep for his body.
“What are you going to do about it?” Alwin inquired
“This” The man said and then suddenly all of them flew back the bags torn from their hands. “That my friends,” the man continued, “is what is called a static discharge, luckily for you it was a low level one, but you might not be so lucky next time”
One glance down at his ankle gave him an idea. “That was pretty weak for a ‘static discharge’. Can’t you do any better?” He taunted
“You want to see a discharge?” He asked and then prepped for another one
“What are you doing Asura?” Ryusaki asked me a moment before the static hit us again
Once Asura could find his voice he called out to the others to change forms and then did so himself losing the malfunctioning ankle bomb in the process.
“Where do you think you’re going with all that money?” The mans voice rang back into Asura’s memory
“Keep the money. It’s yours” Ryusaki called back
“That’s right you better run” The man replied not sure what to do in this situation
After that they were free and each went their separate ways into hiding. Over the years Asura lost tabs with each of them, but now as the mystery man who changed their lives and made them into the things they are gets closer and closer to locating Asura he decided to find the others before the man could

Name: Ziggy Azalaes
Age: 28
Height: 6'0''
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Red
Ethnicity: Causacian
Occupation: Drifter

Powers: Ziggy has a fairly unique power. His power is the power to unlock the potential of normal items. This just means that he can give normal items properties that they normally wouldn't have. Like a knife that can cut through anything, a seat that can support any amount of weight, a flash drive with infinite GB. This power is really not limited in its various uses, and it can be used any item and can be used in any way the person can think of.

Origin of Powers: Ziggy wasn't always a drifter. He used to be a artist. In fact he was a world reowned artist. He had more money then he could ever possibly use. Ziggy put a lot of time into his only other hobbies: art collection, and art history. But then one day that all changed. A man came into his studio when he wasn't there and burned his entire studio to the ground. When he went to get money to buy a new one he noticed all of his money was gone. Devastated he wandered back to his old studio and found a letter, seemingly untouched by the fire. It read, "Go to Stonehenge." Taped to the back of the letter was a credit card. He took this and got a plane ride to stonehenge when he got there a cloak man shoved him into the center of Stonehenge and he was struck by lightning. He woke up to find himself inside a room filled with curiousities. Just a bunch of seemingly random items. Then a old man with a beard began to explain him to his predicament. He was told that he was just given a gift. He was told to take as many items as he pleased. He took myself a cloak, a piece of string, some contacts, a pair of glasses, a vial, an knife, an small knife sheath and a pistol. He left not know where he was going or what he was going to do with his gift. But all he knew for sure was it was some telling him that he was too good for the art of mortals, he needed to do more, he had a greater destiny.

Skills/Talents: Ziggy only real skill is his imagination. It is what gets him through all of the hardships he has to endure, and it is one of overwhelming sources from which his powers can be adeptly used.

Weakness There really is no weakness to Ziggy's powers. All he is doing is unlock items. The real weakness to this technique is that once an item is changed it can't change back. This means that anyone can use it. It adds an element of chaos to his power. Also he can only change one property of the item that he is changing. He can make a knife that can cut through anything and extend to any length. He would have to have two knives, and he could only give one power to each. One other weakness, is that the items he makes are unlocked to there full potential. This means that a knife that can cut through anything can cut through anything. Can't put it in your pocket or in a sheath, it will cut right through it. Only way to store it is to make any invincible sheath. Other than those there really is no weakness to it.

Background:

Ziggy was found in the middle of Stonehenge by the same man that gave him his power. He was a baby then. He gave baby to a tourist family from America. They had been wanting a child, but infertility didn't allow them to have one. So they took him in as their own. He was brought back to America, were he grew up. He was interested in art from the age of 5. He was pretty adept at it too. While his friends where drawing stick figures, he was drawing them, near perfectly. He was put into a special art institute in Rome, where he learned and fostered his art technique. He eventually graduated at 12, the youngest to ever graduate from this institute. He began his career at age 15. His career ended abruptly age 26. Read Origin of powers for rest of background

Name: Amber Kanrys, goes by Impulse
Age: 19 (most mistake her for 16)
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 124
Hair: Blonde (slightly reddish hue)
Eyes: Honey
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Occupation: Works part-time at a nails salon, a pastry shop, and an all-night restaurant

Powers: Amber has a strange set of abilities. Amber's powers don't truly correlate until one takes into account her history. All together Amber has inherited powers over five generations. Her primary ability is the use of Uni-directional Telekinesis, in short the power to create walls of force. Amber's understanding of the ability is quite exceptional, and she often uses it to aid her physically to mimic super-strength, propel herself forward mimicking super-speed, or stop projectiles coming her way with the wave of a hand. Other abilities include the power to pass physical and emotional sensation onto others, amazing dexterity, an extremely high metabolism that powers her high stress alternate form, and even the ability fade into and out of strong winds. All of these powers are from earlier generations and do not represent her own ability, which, strangely, has yet to surface despite her current age.

Origin of Powers: Amber's powers actually stem from one of her ancestors' powers, her great-great grandmother Lillia. Lillia's power involved preserving powers from generation to generation. Obviously, her power didn't really leave any marks on society on its own, but in mating with another post-human, her ability, his ability, and a new ability would manifest in the child. So far, Lillia's power only has shown up in the women of the bloodline. The men retain all of the powers of their ancestors, except for Lillia's, ending the progression. Amber doesn't recognize the existance of her ancestors' powers and figures it's all part of her own ability. Researches haven't done any research on Amber or her immediate family, but Triella had more than one daughter and could have passed the power onto any number of children. A mutation like hers would be highly valued if contained and reproduced.

Skills/Talents: Amber has picked up an array of skills from her time on the Isle of Eden. Her mother knew how to fight with a Claymore, which Amber always found impressive, but on Eden, she could only find someone willing to teach her to use a katana, and only after a year of hand to hand training. She learned to fight with whips and chains on her own, as a way to pass the time. Amber's mother put her into gymnastics classes as a kid to put her budding supernatural agility to use, and Amber has continued practicing them on her own, and enjoys showing off her prowess in the air, aided by her telekinesis. Amber also, finds painting nails relaxing, and often draws complex designs and pictures on the surface of her nails, and anyone willing to pay her. Her heightened metabolism makes her almost immune to the effects of alcohol so she enjoys taking advantage of the bigger guys at bars in both drinking contests and gambling.

Weakness: Amber has a bit of a cocky attitude. She knows she's powerful and she's willing to push people around to get what she wants. She's also extremely impatient, always ready to jump to the easiest solution so that it's out of her hair. She's brash, rude, and all around unruly which makes her a rather poor choice for command, despite her mother's natural flare for it. Aside from personality defects, her excessive metabolism requires large amounts of food to keep her alive. In fact, where most people can last a considerable time without food, Amber would find herself wasting away in a mere three or four days without sustenance. Because of this fact, it's rare that she's ever seen not snacking on something. Her metabolism also makes anything but the strongest painkillers effective, and even then only for a very short while. Her slow body development might also be attributed to this since she still appears maybe 15 or 16.

Another mixed blessing, Amber's overuse of her telekinetic abilities has created a constant tangible field of telekinetic force. In some ways this is useful, something that closes within 10 feet of her breaches that field causing her to be aware of it. However, it also means she is almost impossible to hide. Anyone walking near her will feel something like a cobweb wash over them, and this energy is detectable by anything that can sense vibrational disturbances. The constant leak of force also seems to resonate back to her like a tactile radar. In some cases, it's very helpful to know what's going on around her. In other cases, it drives her absolutely insane. She can feel a person's heartbeat if they're standing close enough, walking in crowds is maddening, and even a cool breeze's comfort is overshadowed by the disruption it carries with it. It's very difficult for her to sleep, especially when she can't even numb her senses with sleep pills, which may play a part in why she's always so unsociable.

If for one reason or another, someone really gets on her nerves, an uncontrollable reaction begins forcing out her alter ego, her cruel, sadistic alter ego. Normally, when this change occurs, her skin and hair darken as her agitation grows. When she finally snaps her hair turns dark red and her skin takes on a heavy blush. Normally, she becomes incredibly focused on removing whatever had pained her existance enough to bring her out, but if the problem persists, it will drain Amber quite completely. Her skin and hair will slowly fade back to normal until she finally passes out.

Occasionally, in extremely intense winds, she often can't control her ability to fade into the wind. Sometimes, she might simply disappear against her will. The wind will carry her away for 100 feet or more before she has the chance to regain her composure. Because Amber hasn't focused much on controlling this power, she's more at its mercy than in control.

Background: Amber's mother was a hero. She was born with the resolve of 100 warriors and never gave in against any odds. Some said that was her greatest power, not the telekinesis she wielded almost effortlessly. Being a hero, she found herself protecting the innocents on both fronts. Anti-human attacks on cities, and anti-mutant assaults on post-humans often left hundreds of innocent victims injured or dying. Allison couldn't let that stand. In doing so, she made a lot of enemies, and finally an anti-mutant team assembled and killed her.

Amber was 12 at the time, and at the mercy of the new abilities that were forming within her as well. Social services left her with her father, a superstitious cutthroat staying just out of jail after his life had fallen apart for leaving Allison. Now the child of their union had come back as a reminder to him of all the bad omens he was trying to outrun. Amber learned to shoot a gun, smoke, and drink in her time with him, despite all his attempts to keep her away from his bad habits. She also seemed to eat twice as much food as he did, wander all around the neighborhood at all hours of the night, and was often the center of all sorts of mayhem, whether she intended it or not. When Amber turned 15 her bottomless appetite for food and disaster was getting too much for her father to afford, so he sent her to a private school to get her out of his hair. He honestly hoped she'd graduate and he'd never have to see her again.

At the boarding school, Amber was starting to get a much better grasp of her powers and seemed to cause much fewer problems for the school than she had for her father. She was quite the bully, despite her small size, and overturned most of the current ruling status among the other students. She was considered a freak by most of the school, but that didn't stop her from practically ruling the place through fear. The teachers were spared from her power trips because other people might take a teacher's testimony more seriously than the students', and the last thing she wanted was for someone to believe that she was a post-human. She graduated a year early, after just turning 17, and sent a letter to her father. In it, all she explained was that he didn't need to worry about her anymore. Amber went straight from her graduation ceremony to the Island of Eden. Now she awaits the chance to show the humans what it it's like to be on the other side.

Name: Ryusaki Shuurai
Age: 34
Height: 5' 6”
Weight: 172
Hair: White
Eyes: brown
Ethnicity: Japanese
Occupation: Assassin

Powers: can create and become plasma

Origin of Powers: Resulted from human experimentation

Skills/Talents: chemistry, martial arts training, thieving and sword skills

Weakness: the longer he remains in his plasma form the harder it will be to turn back

Background: A man approached Ryusaki one day and asked him to try some new firework equipment that would allow him to quit his job as a science teacher and start a career as a pyrotechnic like he had always dreamed of being. He agreed to go during his school's break so he was brought to a mansion and given a room on one of the floors and was allowed to roam anywhere in the building while he stayed there. When he got there he met two others who had been promised similar things by this strange man. After awhile a woman made her appearance in the mansion apparently under the same circumstances, so before it went too out of hand they decided to confront the man who brought them here, but he got to them first. Ryusaki woke up one morning with a wet towel draped over his head. He looked around to discover himself in a dungeon looking room with the other three; Alwin the pilot, Asura the Olympian, and Jade the woman, the only other one who was awake and a quick exchange with her proved that she knew little more that Ryusaki did. After Asura finally woke up the man who had brought them all together made his entrance.
Each of you can become your designated state, and through my training you will learn to master your powers and once we have acquired enough funds you will help create and lead an army of others just like you.
Oh and if you get any ideas, with a press of a button I can have them, and you, wiped from this realm of existence.”
“This” The man said and then suddenly all of them flew back, the bags torn from their hands. “That my friends,” the man continued, “is what is called a static discharge, luckily for you it was a low level one, but you might not be so lucky next time”
One glance down at his ankle gave him an idea. “That was pretty weak for a ‘static discharge’. Can’t you do any better?” Asura taunted
“You want to see a discharge?” He asked and then prepped for another one
“What are you doing Asura?” Ryusaki asked him a moment before the static hit then again
As Ryusaki was regaining his balance, Asura called out to the others to change forms and then did so himself losing the malfunctioning ankle bomb in the process.
“Where do you think you’re going with all that money?” The mans voice rang back into Ryusaki's memory
“Keep the money. It’s yours” He called back
“That’s right you better run” The man replied not sure what to do in this situation
After that they were free and each went their separate ways into hiding. Ryusaki decided to put his new skills to work and became an assassin/cleanup crew of the empire city. Living at ground zero he refined his martial arts and learned to use his twin swords that he carries around with him now, one for storms and one for stars.
