-Name- Katrina Elizabeth Chandler.......................
-Gender- Female................................................
-Age- 42.............................................................
-Nationality- British............................................
-Occupation- Pirate Captain.................................

-Appearance-
Katrina is, in a few words, short, skinny, and plain. At forty-two, she has definitely lost any last vestiges of girlish good looks, but she hasn’t yet managed to achieve ‘old’. Blonde and blue-eyed, she somehow manages to make what could otherwise be a stunning combination rather…well…boring. Truth be told, she cares little for appearance and maintains it only as much as she needs to. She is of average weight and height, and the actual numbers are of no concern to her. Nor should they be to anyone else.

She dresses sensibly, generally in men’s clothing, and always, no matter what clothing she has on, manages to make herself look like a pirate. She is almost never seen without her sword, a well-made Spanish blade with an intricate crossguard and hilt. Her footwear (generally boots) is always practical but, like the rest of her, look as if she raided a costume shop. Dressing up for Katrina consists of a black tricorn hat and violet frock coat. While recently, she’s been delving into the world of ‘normal’ clothing, she’s found that she nonetheless prefers her own.

-Personality-
Katrina is a hardened, no-nonsense sort of woman. She does not truck with foolishness, and she will not tolerate idiots. Not quick to anger, she does, however, become irritated swiftly, and she is easily frustrated in the presence of people she dislikes. She has a tendency to be very sarcastic and has an extremely dry sense of humour. She enjoys plays on words and subtly academic jokes. Well-educated and articulate, Katrina speaks very proper, precise English and is a stickler for using exact words. She speaks quickly and often, quick to criticize. Cynical to a fault, she regards most everything with a pessimistic—though she would insist it was merely realistic—eye.

Like most pirates, Katrina has a dangerous ruthless streak and a love for treasure, though both are tempered by practicality. She will not lead her men or venture herself into unnecessary danger unless the payoff is obscenely well worth it. She is not opposed to killing or causing harm to strangers, and will not hesitate to punish those around her if she thinks they deserve it.

As a captain, Katrina is hard. She has no tolerance for people who do not listen to her, though she feels no need to control her crew’s every motion. She does not take responsibility for others’ mistakes, although she is fully aware that her crew’s behaviour reflects on her. She makes sure her crew knows that as well.

-Likes-
Sailing, money, being on deck of a ship, good weather, dolphins (sign of good luck), rum, sea shanties, cartography, Shakespeare.

-Dislikes-
Idiots, drunkenness, losing money, disrespect, ignorance, poorly performed theatre, mimes, being dirty, being cooped up inside, brawling.

-History-
Katrina was born and raised in a very well-to-do part of Barton Town, by rich and very well-to-do parents. She never wanted for toys or other things, was generally at the peak of every trend, and got a top-class education—at boarding school. Her parents, though they tended to buy her whatever she asked for, were never into the whole ‘raising children’ thing. Katrina grew up spoiled and unrestricted, and naturally had a wild time with her youth that ended in her parents booting her out when she turned eighteen.

Suddenly poor and without a family, Katrina was unable to go to college (like she had intended) and had to work for her supper (like she had not intended). She spent about two years drifting from place to place in Gaia, never staying anywhere for long, doing odd jobs. Eventually, she decided that she loved the ocean and settled in a coast town.

When she was twenty-two, she ran into a group of pirates—legitimate, old-fashioned pirates, who sailed a wooden sailing ship and stole things from people. They convinced Katrina to join them, and she sailed with the crew of the ship—Enchanter—for three years before she returned to the mainland. And that taste of the seafaring way of life made it impossible for Katrina to stay away. She sailed with a handful of other pirates on and off for years and spent her plunder on college courses, getting herself a law degree and eventually suing her parents for her inheritance. Then she used the inheritance to buy a ship of her own and hire a crew.

They marauded and plundered and did pirate-y things, though most shore raids were eschewed in favour of not being arrested. All the same, they occasionally burned towns and stole, because you can’t be a pirate and not do that. Katrina found that the longer they spent on the ocean, with almost no contact mainland, the more she forgot her home life and became an old-time pirate captain. The same held true for her men. The limited contact with civilization made the crew more savage, and made Katrina less inclined to ever relinquish her control.

Until the unfortunate incident with the cabbage, she made contact with the mainland only reluctantly, and she would have been hard-pressed to ever make a trip into the city. She’s been gone so long as the captain of her ship, Ghost, that she’s lost amidst things like stylish clothing, ovens, and light-bulbs.

Plus, she’s on wanted lists across the world.

-Melchizedek-
Katrina’s first ward, and Scooter’s big brother. Melchy was hatched from a cabbage, so he’s not exactly any more normal than Scooter is (he is, after all, part cat). Melchy is loud, obnoxiouis, and selfish, demanding attention and very, very sharp. He is not fond of sharing the spotlight, though he’s used to it, and will likely challenge Scooter a great deal as time goes on.

-Frederick “Wings” Hawkiss-
Katrina’s first mate. While he is not formally educated, he is self-taught and knows keen arithmetic. Hawkiss is much less prone to irritation than his captain, and is surprisingly fond of children. He is often wrangled into babysitting.

-Captain Alexander Vega-
Katrina’s...lover. Katrina and Alex have an on-again off-again relationship that is as violent as it is caring (generally more violent than caring, actually) and tend to act like they hate each other.

-The Crew-
The Ghost under Katrina houses a fairly large crew, numbering somewhere between twelve and twenty at all times. For the most part, Katrina doesn't employ them as babysitters, but growing up with them tends to give children a rather...unique way of looking at things. As time goes on, more and more of the crew is leaving, but enough of them have stayed to keep the house delightfully full.
