On the Rocks sighed, drawing her little shawl about her. It had become incredibly cold. She thought back on Nocturnal and how her mate had died because of the cold. She let a little vent of steam break through her nostril slits and she fluffed herself.

She had made a larger nest for herself, in a small rafter where it was quiet. She could only sleep, and see the lives of others in her dreams, in utter silence.

She gulped. She had not spoken to Zorba in a few weeks now...They had had a fight about her new friend, Waffle House. She fluffed herself once more and slid down the rafters, passing Waffle House's nest, and going to the place Zorba had raised her.

She paused as she approached. "Zorba..." she whispered up to his nest.

There was a shuffling above, in the higher rafter that the nanny had made his nest on. He had been a wreck since the argument that had ended with Rocks leaving. The nest was empty and he seemed to not be able to escape the funk he had fallen into, what with the pidge he had taken as his daughter being furious with him and so far away from him, even if it was just a few rafters over.

He had been preening, perhaps a little too much, and there was a disheveled look to him as he peered over the edge of the nest.

"Rocks?"

She nodded and slid up to his rafter, landing softly. She was much bigger now...she had a sad look on her face. He looked terrible...she had no idea her anger had caused him such trauma. "Oh zorba..." she stepped into his nest and snuggled down beside him. "I'm not angry anymore."

He wore an expression that showed dueling emotions. He was relieved to see her, yet at the same time upset by the memories of their little squabble. All the same, he did not chase her away or utter any sharp words. He was far to sorry and unhappy for that.

Instead, he scooted over and made room for the female, who was much larger than she had been when he had doted on her not too long ago. Little ones grew up so fast.

"I'm glad..." He breathed a soft sigh as he preened at her forehead.

She rested her head against his. "it was stupid of me to get so mad at you." she said with a little preen of his feathers. "i've missed you...but i've been visiting you in your sleep, watching our little life together....daddy."

"Ah've missed y'too, Rocks..." He sighed quietly and continued to preen her feathers in familiar motions that he had followed when she was younger and living under his wing.

"It was jest as stupid 'o me, t'be so mad..."

She put her head against his chest and closed her eyes...she truly had missed all this with the only father she'd know. "Daddy, can i show you my new nest?"

"Sure, sweetheart..." He murmured as he moved his beak through her feathers carefully. He had missed her so incredibly much and couldn't stand the thought of her leaving his nest again, to go live on the opposite end.

She stood up and pumped her wings. "come on!" she laughed as she took off, diving and curling up expertly, landing in her nest's rafter.

Zorba followed, but with a little less grace, as he was exhausted mentally and physically. She was so much farther away, too far for comfort in Zorba's eyes... But, once again, she was grown and he couldn't stop her.

He landed on the rafter next to her and roused his feathers lightly, before preening them again.

"Come sit in here, dad." she said, stepping into her nest. "And look out that window. You will the most specatular sight." the hole faced east, where the sun would rise.

The slate nanny, wrapped in his furry cuffed shawl, stepped hesitantly into the nest after his beloved little Rocks, who was no longer so little. He nestled down beside her and peered out the window, and it was indeed a spectacular sight.

"S'beautiful, Rocks..." He whispered quietly. "Very lovely."

"I picked this spot because of the view, papa, not because I wanted to be so far from you. I like to watch the sun rise...and this place is almost silent at night. I need that to read dreams..." she paused. "When i come to visit you in my dreams...you haven't been eating, have you?"

"At least 's quiet. It can get pretty noisy near mine, what with bein' 'igh traffic and whatnot." He mumbled as he watched the sky turn lighter and very, very red as the sun emerged from behind the trees and buildings.

"Ah been eatin' jest fine, Rocks." He told her bluntly, though it was a complete lie. He had, more or less, lost his appetite when his daughter left, furious with him.
