Posca stretched, her aging bones creaking and popping softly. Hes black claws raked into the dry earth, leaving small scratch marks. The few patches of grass around her had already turned slightly brown, drying up and rotting at an unnatural pace. For now she paid it no notice, and after working out a few knots in her back she carried on, her eyes half lidded to block out the afternoon sun.
It was a hot day, and a bit sticky... One that she did not really enjoy, and the dry earth spawned little beauty for her to fawn over... So today she spent on just traveling, her destination unknown.
For Kiseki, the dry earth was pleasureable to the cold and windy place he had last traveled from. The young leopard was unhappy in the cold and enjoyed straying into the desert sands as opposed to the cooler temperatures he had come from. No one had chosen to follow him on his last adventure and his lasting goal of being a 'king' was turning out to be more like an adventure in going from point a to point b. He had been alone now for quite sometime, only having tumbleweeds and the sun as his companions and they would not follow him, this he knew for sure.
The young leopard looked up, more out of habit than anything else and saw something in the distance. It was too big to be a tumbleweed and too small to be the sun so...could it be someone like him? He raced across the deserted earth in pursuit of what could hopefully be someone to talk with...or even someone to make a follower?!
The goddess was not very observant it seemed, for the cub went unnoticed... for now. She continued on walking, her feet falling slowly and lazily to the ground, kicking up sand.
She finally saw Kiseki as he got closer, her eyes opening wider to look over him, head tilting. Posca was suprised to see someone so young surviving in this heat, and apparently alone. Her gaze flickered around to try to find some sign of an adult, but there was none... So, now a bit concerned for the mortal, she stopped and turned to him.
"Are you alright...?" She said softly, her voice filled with motherly worry.
Kiseki turned his head as he skidded to a stop, throwing dust into the air. "Eh....sorry 'bout that." he replied, coughing through the dust and dirt. The young leopard waited for the dust to clear before he continued. "Do you happen to know of any animals around here looking for a king?" he rose his head high in a sort of regal motion before nodding back to her. "I'm fine! I'm looking for minions...or servants or followers. Whatever words shall get them to follow me. Cause I'm destined to be a king, I'm sure of it!" Kiseki dusted himself off properly before holding out a paw. "I'm Kiseki. I was told that it means Prince. But I'm not a lowly prince! I'm a king...or at least I will be someday!" he added, cautiously. For he was looking at an adult and a female adult who didn't look much like a leopard to him.
...which really didn't matter much as he fancied himself to be more like a lion anyways.

Posca blinked slowly, waiting for the dust to settle, and listening to the small cub that seemed so... power hungry.
"A ruler? A king, you say..." She sounded serious, not wanting to be rude... If the child thought himself a king, then why not let him be so? A child's innocence and imagination should not be cast aside. "Well... I'm afraid I do not deal with mortals very often, dear one... I would not know. But I'm sure you will find a wonderful group to rule over some day."
Kiseki cocked his head before sitting down eagerly. "Mortals? Um....does that mean....are you like a princess? Or a Queen! Wow..." The leopard was quite in awe in the fact that he was meeting someone who was in the possible position that he did fancy himself in one day. "Can I get your name, Miss Queen!" he asked with a genuine smile, quite happy to meet another person who might find his dream not something to laugh at.
"See...I knew that someone wouldn't find my dream so silly." He looked down at the ground for a moment, pawing at it quietly. "Everyone I've met thinks it's silly that I want to be a King. They said that Leopards should be hunted or servants of lions....but what if I want to be a lion instead? Lions...they don't get laughed at or called silly."
She blinked again, not sure what to say for a moment. "Well... dear..." She cleared her throat, ears twitching back. She wondered whether or not to correct him, but decided against it, since it seemed to please him. The lioness smiled, wings twitching a bit anxiously.
"My name is Posca. And no... it is not silly at all, I think... To be a ruler is a good goal, so long as you will be a good and just ruler."
The leopard listened intently, nodding as she spoke. He soaked up her words with a great deal of pride, as he had never heard from one so wise before. The ones he had spoken to before just talked down to him, Posca spoke to him as if...well, as if he weren't a child or a leopard but someone of worth.
"You...are quite wise for a lion with wings, Miss Posca." he stated before looking up at her. "You are one who is actually royalty but...you treat others with kindness. Is that...well, is that what a king can truly do and become? Someone who one can talk to and reply to on the same level, no matter what their species are?"
She nods, smiling a bit wider. "You are wise beyond your years to come to such a conclusion... For you see, there is a strong different between being a King, and a Tyrant.... A king earns the respect of his people, and listens to the tiniest voice... While a Tyrant demands such respect, but it's all a lie... His servants would turn on him at the slightest chance, and I do not think you would want that, dear King."
The young leopard nodded in reply to the wise words he was hearing. So the ones that had spoken to him had only mentioned about being bad and not good? Such a fool he was to listen to such advice!
"Yes Ma'am! I mean, Miss Queen. I want to be a King that people respect and want to be around....a Tyrant is a truly bad person who just wants to rule to fill a place in their heart that has been left unfilled by any meaningful emotion." Kiseki pawed the ground again as he thought before speaking toward the goddess. "I guess...I thought wrong about how a King...or maybe I'm still a Prince, should behave."
A gentle chuckle bubbled out of her throat, a bit of oil falling onto the ground from her chin. "Perhaps you are, dear. But a prince is nothing to look down at either, you know... Every one must start somewhere, and a price is a good thing to be. It will give you plenty of time to grow into a strong King, when the time does come for you to be one." She laughed again, one wing extending towards him. A few feather tips carressed his side gently. "A king needs a kingdom to rule to be a true king anyway."

Kiseki watched the oil fall and felt the feathers on his side, closing his eyes for a moment. He almost imagined that this is what it felt like to have a mom or someone like a mom nearby to teach right, wrong and which ways to start on the journey. As he opened his eyes, he looked up warily; the frustration and tiredness of his journey showing. "Do you think that one day...I'll find this kingdom....this place and these people to where I might belong?"
"And...what about you Miss Posca? Where will you go? Do you have a place that you belong to...where you get to live and rule with others?" Kiseki felt a sort of kinship with Posca and hoped that she, unlike him, might have a place to go back to, once she finished her journey.
"Well.. you see..." She frowned then, trying to find a way to describe her... situtation in a way that seemed noble. Or at least something that would not trouble the child. "You see, I do not have a kingdom in a way that you someday will... I rule over the dead, in a way. Rotting things are my servants, for it is my duty to tend to them. See..." She looked down at the ground, then stepped closer to a patch of grass. Her paw hovered over it, and at the touch of her skin it rotted away to nothing.
"It is my way to wander, the whole world is my home... But so is not the way for you, dear one. I believe that one day you will settle down and foster a magnificent kingdom."
The leopard watched as she spoke and demonstrated her abilities to him. Part of him immediately felt sad for her but, it was a duty that she did and seemed to do with pride so he felt. No matter what she did, she did it with a sort of grace that one would not normally imagine would be granted one with the abilities and talents that she had. Kiseki nodded and looked over the horizon around him before pointing out what he saw. "So, the whole world is your domain....that's a really big duty and a very big kingdom! I guess it's growing all of the time and you get to see the world as well."
He turned back to her and cocked his head. "So...when we part ways, will we see each other again? Because, I do hope to show you what I've become one day!"
She smiled gently, her normally empty eyes looking warm, and it was not because of the sun's rays. "We will meet again, I think. You see, because of my duties, it is my job to be able to travel the world quickly. I can appear where ever I am needed... So if you call to me, I will come to you as soon as possible."
Her wing carressed him again, gently. "I wish to see this kingdom some day.... I would not miss it for the world."
"Really?" Kiseki's face brightened as he felt her wing again against him. "Well...any kingdom needs someone to look up to, I believe so....my kingdom can look up to you then! That way...you'll always have a place to call your own, if you want to of course."
"Then....we'll definately meet up again one day, that is a promise! Things may change, the world may be different and we may even be different but...our promise can remain as long as we believe in it! Right, Miss Posca?" The goddess continued to smile down at him, though it almost turned sad for a moment... It was a good thought... But she couldn't help but wonder if this child would really become a king, or if he'd even suvive long enough to grow older... The thought saddened her, but she could not stay to watch over him. No matter how hard she tried, her powers would eventually leak into him and make him weak and sickly... He'd be sager on his own.
She nodded and drew her wing back, folding it against her back. "Yes... we will make this promise, and I will hold onto it for eternity. Make your kingdom, and I will watch over it."
"Okay then Miss Posca! One day, I will become a King, be it a big or small kingdom and you shall be my friend and protector in the skies. As long as we believe in the promise, I'm sure we will meet again someday and somewhere in the future! Please, be safe okay? I want to see you again when I'm bigger and hopefully a big, strong King!"
She nodded slowly, pushing herself to her feet, her bones once again popping from all their years. "Very well... I will stay safe, and see that you do as well." Posca smiled at him again, then turned slowly away, wings fluttering. "Goodbye, dear one... but only for a while."
With that she took to the skies, her wings folding out to their full massive length, blocking out the sun for a flickering moment... And then she was gone.
