Hello, everyone! If this has already been done, it can be deleted. Thanks in advance. ^^;

I was wondering, are healing spells without consent ethical? Does intent matter more in this case? Can it be considered grey magick? Does it "harm none?"

Thank you, everyone!

Healing spells that sounds fine you should proubly ask first if it's for a friend

Anything without consent I consider wrong.

Take my Other Half for example, I asked him if I could perform a healing spell on his knee and he said he'd rather wait and see what affect his new medication had and what the doctors were planning.

As it turns out the doctor he had two weeks ago had miss diagnosed him completely and he has now been referred to a specialist.

Now his medical care is constant and he is confident he is in good hands he feels ok to receieve healing.

It may not cause harm physically but it could cause anguish for the person you are trying to heal. You are affecting their body and they have every right to know and should be told. That's just my two cents.

My opinion on the matter varies... In general I feel that if you try practicing anything without consent (including divination/healing/ simple luck spells) that it's wrong.

Now, if it's a life or death situation or the person's unconscious and you're 100% sure that they would most likely give you permission if you explained yourself enough... Then I'd say it's alright.

I don't consider healing spells to be harmful unless you're not sure of what you're healing. It could complicate the problem more if you heal one part and not the whole.

I don't think you should perform anything without consent from the person.
But that doesn't mean you can't simply ask the Lord and Lady to heal someone, or send them healing thought energy.

I think it would be dependent on the situation. If there was a friend who was plagued by a curse, or malevolent spirit/demon, but denies the fact, hoping it will go away on its own, I would entervene if it became life-threatening. If it's for simple things, then it is best to ask for consent. If waiting for permission is a dangerous thing, then it should be permissable.

I dont think it is a matter of ethics. I personally think that magick is most potent when all party members are open to its spells. A spell taht is cast for someone who is unawar of it, or not open to its workings the spell may not work as well or just fail entirely. That is part of the reason why we are told to ask someones consent before we cast a spell, this opens that path, and the elders knew that.

I'm not exactly an expert on the subject, but I think that you should always get the person's consent before healing them.

Now I don't get this. Most people I ask say it's okay to pray for someone without consent, but casting a spell without asking is bad. Whats the difference? Is peticion magick is less likely to interfear with your life then any other type? I personaly agree with Zabazor. It's not really a matter of ethics, it's just more efficiant.

My mentor once told me.
Healing spells are great, but they can only do so much. Doctors some times have to intervene, doesn't mean ur magic still isn't at work.
She told me this when a boy fell and hurt him self, I did a simple chant over his leg (with permission) and the pain went away. The scratch was still there, but healed faster. I felt warm and fuzzy after.
Prayer is different I think, in that u are asking the Gods to help you, and not putting ur own energy right into the person. Idk though. Thats just my opinion.

If I was healing someone other then myself I always ask first. I believe that its fine to do a healing spell on someone as it is in good natuar, its not designed to hurt someone, but due to the fact that you have to courise(sp?) to the other person you should always ask them first.
So yes I think that they are fine as long as you ask.
