The Story
In an age long since past was a kingdom of unrivaled beuty and splendour, unrivaled by any other in the land. For centuries this kingdom had conquered or dominated its neighbours politicly and nobody could foresee this Golden Age could possibly end. The people lived a life that was both decadent and idle, slaves from the captured territories doing the vast majority of work. Yet beneath this facade lay a plume of sorcery and magic that, in secret, was used to bring the realm to its zenith. Religion was central to the lives of all and the Gods, in truth supernatural beings who interfered in mortal affairs, were to be worshipped in the hopes they would grant the individual power. This was the most central theme of that great land, the pursuit of power.
The ruler of the realm, King Leon the Just as he was then known, was like all his forefathers gifted with foresight. The rulers of the Kingdom could foresee events in the future long before they occured and rule the realm in accordance to bring about or prevent the visions they witnessed. What King Leon saw was the total and utter destruction and desecration of the great Kingdom-its cities abandoned and people virtually extinct. King Leon knew that unless he were to increase his own power then surely his land would succumb to what he had witnessed in the visions. Yet power, as it was known then as well as it is today, corrupts.
King Leon prayed to the Gods for more power, they were silent to his pleas. All save one. The Unspoken One, Goddess of Darkness, who's name is only spoken by those who have given themselves in service to her. Her voice came to the King like a pleasant breeze on a stifling day, soft and senseual like bare skin on silk. She promised the King that she would rule his Kingdom through him in order to preserve its might and prevent its destruction. However the King forfeit his soul and will to be a slave to her will and whims unconditionally, for eternity. The King then knew the truth behind the visions, he would have to forsake all of his power to the Goddess if his kingdom and bloodline were to survive. In turn he would be granted some Dark Power for his own personal use. First however the Goddess demanded he proved his intentions.
Around this time in our story is where the seed of corruption began to grow in the heart of the King. The Goddess's offer knawed at his mnd night and day until he King grew ill. After reasoning with himself that this was for the greater good he did as she had commanded. A huge monument was built at the centre of the town, the temples of the Gods smashed, a cruel obelisk that was built was a premonition for many of things to come. The Noble's and the King became creul and sadistic as time went on, their desires ever more dark and depraved as evil grew within the kingdom like a cancer. The slaves were tortured and often killed merely for fun, many of the peasants starved as the King ordered a huge build up of the Navy and Army to satisfy his lust for power. The final act came when the King abandoned the name he was given by the God of Light, renaming himself King Sanguine in honour to the Dark Goddess.
When this was done the King traveled the Alter of Darkness and Eternal Night the King sacraficed a new born child of a raped slave with fire, and spilt his own blood upon ashes. Such an evil deed proved the King had accepted her offer, she stamped him as one of her slaves. Appearing before him in a cloud of black smoke, dark with unimaginable beuty that deceived mortal minds and hid her true nature. She demanded the King kneel and spill his seed for her, so that all of his bloodline would also be her slaves in this life and the next. The King's once noble heart had become withered and rotten like his kingdom, so it was no suprise to the Goddess that he gave in so easily to her in the end. All mortals who heard her voice would do her bidding in time, and time was something the Goddess had in infinate supply.
The King made his choice, making love to Darkness and Evil incarnate. He, like all mortals, loved her. Soon he would love evil and darkness, relish in suffering and torture. As the King finished the deed, the Goddess whispered her name in his ear. He was doomed now, his only salvation was through evil, he would serve for all eternity. Soon, the Goddess thought, he would do it willingly and be glad. His Kingdom, his will, his soul and his armies were now hers and solely hers to command. All of his bloodline, male or female, would love her and dispair.
Yet hope remained, there momuments smashed and the fundations of the world shaken the other Gods could no longer be idle, they were filled with wrath and pity for what they witnessed. The God of Light and Life, known by many names, appeared to Sanguine's Son in a dream. So the great struggle for the ancient Kingdom began-Son and Father, God and Goddess, Light and Dark
