This was growing to be irritating. Wasn't the point of not living in the north to, you know, be away from the snow? Stupid freak snow storm... Lumiere huffed, dropping her staff from her mouth as she stopped to rest. Bright blue eyes glanced behind her, eyeing the messy set of pawprints, and the nice continuous trench her staff had made in the snow of her wake. It was good she wasn't worried about being hunted...
Lumiere sighed softly, shaking snow from her tail as she glanced about. Her butterfly escort that usually followed her were off somewhere, more then likely seeking refuge from the snow. Which she ought to follow their example, yet she needed to keep going. She wouldn't allow snow to control her pattern, even if it was unpredictable.

Where had all the white stuff come from all of a sudden?
Grumbling and slogging through the snow, Altair glanced about before pausing and shaking the powder from his head with irritation. It was going to take forever to get himself suitably clean again. He continued flicking the odd, rogue powder from his wings and tail feathers as he walked, mumbling to himself when something else finally caught his attention.
Tracks in the snow. Helix tracks and...something else. Like something being dragged.
The Alpha paused, sniffing the tracks and seeking out any information that might remain. Apparently, they were still reasonably fresh and...from a female.
Altair grinned, chuckling to himself before changing direction and following the tracks. With any luck, he might be able to catch up to the young lady without much difficulty. And for once, it seems that luck was smiling on Altair. She must have stopped for a rest or something, as it wasn't long before a blueish blur in the snow took the shape of a Helix.
A...very beautiful Helix.
'Can't leave a lady wandering about in weather like this all alone,' he quipped, swiftly, but smoothly, moving to join this beautiful stranger. He put on his most charming smile...and did his best not to show too much of the eager enthusiasm he was feeling at the moment. 'The weather aside, however, I hope that the lovely lady is faring well.'

Inhaling softly, one of her ears twitched lightly as a soft sound. Barely audible, but still there. The soft crunching of snow under paw? Lumiere glanced to her side, spotting the bright blue winged helix as he approached. Her wings fluttered lightly on her back, stirring up the snow that had settled between her shoulders. Was this a friend or foe? Surely someone wouldn't attack her. Though she relaxed mildly, seeing the male smile, and found herself mildly returning the gesture.
"And what of a gentleman like yourself? Why is he traveling alone in this atrocious weather?" She gave a light smile, blinking as she glanced over the Helix. He resembled a bird she had crossed paths with once. What had it been called? A peacock? She was taken aback for a moment by his comments. Had she just been called lovely? Well, she knew that. But it was always so refreshing to hear another say it. "I am, though I would much like to get out of this weather. Would such a gentleman know of such a place, where I might find refuge from this storm?"

Altair chuckled softly at her first question, smiling winningly once more. 'What better way for a knight to come to aid a fair damsel in distress? It's not typically a team sport anyway.' Slipping gracefully to her side, the Alpha wasted no time in pouring on his charms.
'However, first things first. We should retreat from this horrid invasion from the North. It gets a bit warmer the further south you travel, but if fair lady needs a more immediate source of shelter, I know of a few places that serve well enough as ports in a storm. They can offer protection from the winds and elements at least in order to rest.' He would let her give her preference, whether to keep moving or seek shelter. Either way, he'd be more than happy to escort her.

Laughing softly in return, Lumiere stretched lightly. "No, I suppose it wouldn't be." She shook her head free of falling snow and stood. "I've rested. Stopping somewhere close wouldn't be a bad idea; for this staff, though beautiful it may be, is a pain to carry..." Lumiere also wouldn't be able to converse well, carrying it in her mouth. And she couldn't carry it over her shoulders...
Suddenly, her butterflyies appeared from out of nowhere, landing over her staff and lifting it up in the air. The blue Helix shot the traitorous butterflies a dark look. Where had they been earlier!? Though, she swore she saw them wince, but no matter. Lumiere turned back to Altair, smiling sweetly despite her... episode with her flying escorts. "I guess we should keep going. I would like to be out of this cold fluff."

While curious about the mysterious staff and it's purpose or what might make it so worth toting around like that, Altair held his tongue. He'd save the questions for later. No use interrupting such interesting conversation with such a beautiful lady.
However, the problem's solution was a bit too perplexing to ignore completely. With a laugh, the peacock alpha shook his head. 'Well now, that was convenient! Where could I get myself such a helpful little group of followers?'
Without waiting for an answer though, he turned and nodded towards the southern portion of the Eastern territory. 'We ought to be able to escape this messy stuff if we keep moving that way. Afterall, it just does not do to have such a beautiful lady exposed to such harsh elements.' With a smile and a slight flick of his tail feathers to dislodge any remaining snow, Altair lead the way, glancing back frequently to admire the view...
...err...make sure she was keeping up. Yeah, that.

Lumiere giggled softly, shaking her head as she followed a pace behind him. The staff, now being upheld by the butterflies, floated by her side. She followed loyally behind him, trusting that he would know his way around the East. "I thank you for this."
She soon grew curious as to why he kept looking back, hopping a pace to catch up. Lumiere pondered over something to say. While she liked silence, she ought to enjoy the good company while she had some. "So, my gentlemanly escort, have you a pack to call your own?"

'It's my pleasure, my dear.'
Ah, that was better...so much easier to keep watching her when she was walking just out of the corner of his eye. He couldn't keep the smile off his muzzle.
'Indeed I do, dear lady. It's a bit small at the moment, but growing,' he admitted with a nod. 'Only myself and a couple others for the time being, but I'm sure more will join in time.' He shot her a sideways grin. 'Afterall, who could resist joining a cause that seeks out the best and most beautiful in life?'
He walked for a moment in silence before continuing, eyes ahead and scanning the horizon. 'Life is short. It can be hard, pain-filled, or just boring. Why not spend each day seeking out the best life has to offer? Beautiful sights, delicious food...' He shot a pointed glance and a grin sideways. '...pleasant company. It's all about making the most of life without fretting on the unpleasant things that may or may not happen. It's all so fleeting in the long run.'

Lumiere listened quietly, glancing over at Altair as she thought over his words. There was truth behind those beautiful words. For there was nothing wrong in wanting the finer joys of life, the pursuit of happiness. She nodded to show her agreement. "Life is short on it's own. It's best to make the most of it while you have the chance." Though with her recent move to the East, she had no pack of her own. But those types of things come at their own pace, did they not?

Altair winked at the alpha female, chuckling. 'See? How could any Helix deny such a grand and rewarding purpose? Especially with such unfailing logic. I'm sure all the Helixes will be clamoring to join once the word spreads.'
The Alpha's steps were light, despite the powdery fluff on the ground. It had been a while since he'd enjoyed such company and he certainly wouldn't turn down a good conversationalist.
Especially if she was pretty.
Switching the conversation around, he turned to her. 'And yourself, lovely lady? I'm sure you have all the Helixes in all the territories flocking to praise you, don't you?'

Lumiere giggled softly, smiling in return. "Perhaps so. Perhaps your pack will be the envy of the territory." She kept an almost even pace with the alpha male, though occasionally had to take an extra step in her gait.
She remained quiet for a moment, shaking her head as she gave a smile. "I'm afraid I don't. As nice as that would be, I seem to find myself alone more often then not."

Frowning, Altair shook his head sadly. 'It should be a crime not to honor and praise one as beautiful as yourself, my dear. Perhaps, if my pack is as successful as you predict, then we could do something to remedy this problem.' He chuckled softly, smiling at her winningly once more.
It had been some time since he'd had a chance to talk to a lady as lovely as this, let alone this impressive. She was special, that was for sure.
Still, the Alpha lost a bit of his playful tone, perhaps without noticing it himself as he continued, 'Afterall, no one wants to be alone.'

Lumiere paused, once again finding herself surprised at his words. A crime? On the inside, she felt her heart flutter and soar. His attentions were something that she wasn't quite used to. But she would never claim them bad. Especially with that handsome smile of his..
..Where had that come from?
Mentally shaking her head, the dark blue helix returned his smile. "Perhaps. It would be an amazing feat to see; a pack under the leadership with someone of your stature will flourish for sure."
Her attention seemed divided, between his statement, and the tone he used. It made questions dwell in the back of her mind, though she restrained herself from asking. "While that is true.." The Alpha started, choosing her words slowly and carefully. "Eventually, we all come across another at some point." Lumiere smiled at him earnestly, taking a stride to walk closer to the male Alpha. "Afterall, I was alone until you came across me."

What...was that?
Mentally, Altair brushed the thought aside, much as he'd flick away something unwanted on one of his wings. This was not the time for his thoughts to be wandering. Not while he had a pretty lady at his side. Not to mention cultured.
'We can only hope,' he chuckled softly with a smile. 'That was the intention at least. Coming together as one to seek out and appreciate the great beauty of life wherever we might find it.' He smiled wistfully, his gaze distant for a moment before he turned, focusing on her once more.
Wait, was she closer than she had been a moment ago? Apparently so, as he had to suppress a pleasant shiver when one of his wings brushed against her side. He was distracted for a moment before he could focus on her words again, but his mind was turning with possibilities already, of insinuations being made without either consciously realizing.
'Indeed. At some point, if a meeting is meant to be, then it shall happen. There's no denying it. Fate has a hand in creating these so-called 'chance' meetings, no matter what obstacles may attempt to bar the way. And so, no Helix has to be alone forever, because there's always a chance to cross paths with another.' Smiling again, he aimed a brief, but knowing look at the other Alpha before continuing with a sparkle in his eye. 'I too was alone in this wintery setting not long ago. And here we find ourselves traveling side by side. Perhaps now we are alone together?'

Lumiere remained silent, her thoughts rolling in her mind as she soaked in his words. She took the moment to analyze his speech. Such refinery, elegance. The way it rolled into her thought process like liquid moonlight.
In all truth, the female alpha found a romantic flare in the elegancy of refined speech. Though, it could be many a thing that caused this behavior.
Only when one of Altair's wings brushed by her side did she snap from her reverie. Lumiere smiled, glancing at the other slightly as her opalescent wings flitted pleasantly against her back. In turn, the butterflies reacted in the same manner.
How odd..
Lumiere was hushed into a lulled moment of silence. "Perhaps so." Had this really have been predetermined by fate? By meeting this helix, who has all but blown away her expectations? She glanced up, watching the snow fall. In truth, she had heard snowfall was rather beautiful and romantic, though had not been able to see for herself. Until now, that is.
"Though, I am glad fate has rearranged our meeting, Altair." She glanced back at the peacock male, a small smile working it's way onto her features.
