My nephew, a friend and I are headed to the trail Sunday so I figured I'd show you the two bike frames I've been trying to decide between. Not that you'll probably pay attention since no one else rides but I've nothing better to do at the moment. xp Hopefully I'll keep the rubber side down and not do any faceplants from ledges this time. They built a new pump track at the trailhead so maybe I'll give it a try. But here's the bikes.

First up is the Turner Flux. A 4" travel XC bike that can be used for light All Mountain.
Frame price $2395. Full bike price $6500 for my component price.

User Image

The other choice is the Turner 5 Spot. It's a 5.5" travel All Mountain bike.
Frame price $2495. Bike built with my component choice $7200.

User Image

This is the bike I helped my nephew has picked out. The Ibis Mojo. A carbon fiber 5.5 travel All Mountain bike.
Frame price $2k. Price with his choice of components $6500.

For now I'll still be riding my Giant Rainier hardtail.

Well I just got back from the trail. Managed not to go over the bars this time. Had to walk down a few of the decents since the trail we took today would pretty much result in death if you screw up. 20' drops into pits with really sharp branches sticking out would not be pleasant. eek

We shot some video of the ride so once I get the file I'm probably going to make a youtube video for it. The friend we were riding with decided to ride down the side of a 10' rock face that was almost straight down. Lol he made it look easy.

I'll post a link ot the video when I get it done.

Figure I might as well use this thread as my bike log too.

Went riding around town tonight, tried to get Ryan to go but he wussed out again. Did my usual 7 mile loop around town. If I ever get a POV camera I'm going to record my trip for you guys so you can see the most boring town in the entire multiverse.

On the bright side there was a couple cute lolis out. Even one on crutches. This town has a serious shortage of cute chicks. And most of the cute chicks at the trail are either with their other half or lesbian(although they tend to ride with their girlfriends which is kinda hot in itself). Plus spandex definetly works for them. Just remember to stop before you start looking or while you're checking out their a** a tree will walk in front of you. xp

Managed to send myself over the handlebars again, although this time I was able to walk over them so no damage to me. I rode down to one of the docks I use for hill climbing and the area between the shore and dock has been pretty washed out so I have to jump over it. But when I came off the dock I exited on the other side which I didn't notice was washed out about another 1'. Lol I came off it and my entire front wheel went in the hole. The bike flipped up and stopped and I walked over the bars. I turned around and my bike was stuck completely in the hole. I should of took a picture. I forgot my BB has a flash so I still could of got a good shot.

Lol once my adrenaline runs down my body will start attacking itself so that'll be pain from hell. Guess I should probably take my umpteen billion medications. Wish they could put all that stuff in one pill. It'd make my life so much easier.

Still waiting to get the video from our trail ride. Anyone know any good video editing software? I haven't used any in years so I'm not sure whats really good.

Of course I know no one will read any of this except this line. So do any of you guys own a bicycle? Road, mountain, cruiser or anything?

Went for a ride tonight and got in about 5 miles. Ryan wussed out on me again. Damn rocks at the boat ramp are getting too easy. Wish the trail wasn't an hour away. Well like 35 minutes with my normal driving unless I happen to get behind some senior citizens doing 20 mph under the speed limit.

But anyway....no cute chicks, loli or otherwise around so that sucked. Of course they'd just be eyecandy since it's hard to impress a chick when you're wearing a block of styrofoam on your head. xp No matter how awesome your helmet looks when you pick it out you still look like a dork when you put it on.

When I got back home Ryan finally decided he wanted to ride so I went back out for another 3 mile ride. We played around jumping the double curbs. I ride back up the curbs too but Ryan didn't make it. He wouldn't do the rocks at the boat ramp either but I did finally get him to ride the staircase. If he ever decides to get rid of that walmart toy that looks like a mountain bike he'll have alot more fun.

Actually if Ryan got a real bike and some spandex he could be the next BikerFox burning_eyes . Since all of you are lucky enough not to know who Biker Fox is I'm going to post the link to website so I can share the horror of the bike world. http://www.bikerfox.com/ Open at your own risk. It's safe for your computer but may cause serious mental problems.....or you may just laugh your a** off at him like I do.

SuperNova Ryan
This topic makes no sense with your typing goto the mountain bike thing. ninja

With my typing? You mean proper spelling and grammar make no sense to you? Or did you mean it's off topic for the main forum because the topic makes perfect sense as those things at the top are mountain bike frames and the topic is called....yes you guessed it "mountain bike frame".

As for it being off topic the guild owner said it's ok.

Finally got to the trail again yesterday. Almost killed myself trying to keep up with Carlos on one of the technical trails. He picked all the nice lines through the hills and I kinda just pounded over them. Lol sad part is he wasn't even even trying. If he felt like going he would of been so far ahead I'd never catch up. Oh well it was fun. Hopefully it won't take so long to get back out there this time. Plus all my new parts finally arrived so I gotta get them on my bike. Maybe one of these days Ryan will actually come with us.

Got my tires and saddle on my bike the other day. Finally changed the cassette over from my other bike too. Did the 5 mile loop around town tonight. Ryan of course wussed out again.

Of course he did comment that riding bikes is only fun if you're 12. Guess that's why the average mt biker or roadie is between 30 and 50 and usually has $2k to $25k invested in his bike and gear. Lol I haven't met too many 12 years old that ride a $1200 hardtail like mine. And if they could afford any of the frames on this page they're really dedicated or got some rich a** parents.

But anyway tires worked great for being cheaper ones, of course working on pavement is different from working on the trail. Won't know how well they work at Santos til I get back there. Saddle is pretty comfy although for 40 bucks it should be....lol sad part is that's still a cheap saddle. Definately want to add an XTR shadow derailleur in the future. The lx just doesn't have enough spring tension for my rough a** riding style...or lack of style actually. xp

We hit the trail Sunday and got in about 15 miles of the expert trails. All three of us had some pretty good crashes. My nephew crashed during a jump while trying to show off, Carlos passed a guy in one of the seriously difficult trails in the middle of switchback descent and didn't see a bump in the trail and hit it too fast. He ended up cutting up his arm and almost falling off the cliff.

I on the other hand managed to fall off a bridge twice, fall down a hill and caught a stick in my derailleur coming out of the trail at high speed. The stick bent the derailleur hanger and jammed the chain and wheel which stopped the bike so fast that I kept going for another ten feet without a bike. I flew about four feet and slid the rest of the way. Glad that area was sand and not rock. So I ended up with one trashed derailleur hanger, a bent front wheel and quite a few scrapes.

We were out there for about 3 hours. Had some hella fun. Glad my hydration pack will be here tomorrow. 32 ounces just isn't enough liquid for those kinda rides.

Lol glad my doctor doesn't know the type of trails I ride. She'd b***h so much it wouldn't be funny.
