Of the Lolita and Earl styles there are today, there are quite a few. We call each of the styles that have branched off Tribes. If you are unsure of which one you fit under, look at these descriptions.

MAIN MALE EARL TRIBE

Elegant Gothic Aristocrat
(EGA) is a subset of Gothic Lolita. The style imitates the mature decadence of the late Victorian Era, with emphasis on simplicity and elegance. On a similar status as the Classical Lolitas, the Aristocrats (or Earls in this case) locate themselves between the Sweet Lolitas and the Gothic Lolitas. The clothing style consists of both Sweet and Gothic consisting of black and white, dark colours and natural tones with delicate detailing, lace trimmings, which is completed with black, clunky boots and heavy makeup. A pale complexion is generally preferred to mimic the traditional complexion of the Victorian Era men. Accessories are also essential items to achieving the EGA look, corsets, gloves, conspicuous pocket books, bows and top hats are usually the signature items. Tailored and streamlined jackets are the main attractions, as well as tight-fitting long shirts and sleeves. All in all, these Aristocrats achieve a look that resembles the Earls of the Victorian Era and complement the various tribes of Lolitas.

MAIN LOLITA TRIBES & BRANCHES OF.

Sweet Lolita
One of the main styles of Lolita, Sweet Lolita contains mostly the innocent and childlike aspects of the fashion. The style uses light and pastel colours as well as maintaining a childlike demenour. They wear little to no make up, aiming to keep their childlike appearence along with wearing that sweet innocent smile while hosting their tea parties. The Sweet Lolita is quite common amongst all Lolita's and has a few sub-genres.

-ShiroLoli
This style as you can tell by the name (shiro=white), is based on strict white lolita fashion, in which every item of clothing is made to be be white, emphasising the innocence of the lolita. This lolita is branched off from the Sweet Lolita tribe.

-Country Lolita
These girls have more simple lolita clothing that fit under budget of modern day citizens. Their clothing consist of gingham prints and straw baskets, and country hair styles such as a simple buns or braids. It is branched off from the Sweet Lolita tribe.

Gothic Lolita
This is the second main style of Lolita. It started off as a mixture between the gothic and lolita style, eventually breaking off time as went on. It incorperates the dark colour scheme of goths (black, purple, navy) in every aspect of their fashion and makeup, the only bright colour emminating from them being their bright red lipstick- that is if that choose to wear it. Gothic Lolita clothing is much less intricate in design then the sweet lolita's as they focus their attention on gothic accessories such as bats, crosses, coffins etc.

User Image

-KuroLoli
This Lolita style that has branched off the Gothic Lolita, is opposite to the ShiroLoli. While ShiroLoli takes to their colour scheme of white to portray innocence, the Kurololi's style aims to do the opposite, consisting of every item being black with an attitude to match.

User Image

-Punk Lolita
As the name suggests, this style of Lolita adds punk elements to transform it into a label of their own. You are able to spot a Punk Lolita if you are unsure if they are a Lolita at all, due to their tatterered clothing, pins, badges, chains, ties and also cropped, crazy hairstyles that would fit under the punk label. The Punk Lolita's attitude mirrors its fashion sense and they are quite outspoken, and aren't afraid to ruffle a few feathers to get their point across.

OTHER TRIBES.

Hime Lolita
These Lolita's only wear fashion that the arisctorcrats wore in the same style, and attempt the same manners these people would have had in that time. Also known as Lolita Royalty, their clothing is the most pricy and hard to come by the any other lolita, and they are often prone to jealousy from other lolitas. Also the Hime tribe a rare breed, who are slowly dying out.

User Image

Classic Lolita
These Lolita's aim to sustain the 'classic' image of the Lolita fashion and uphold it quite well. Well mannered and well dressed, this tribe sits in between Sweet Lolita and Gothic Lolita, and are often the cause of debate amongst Lolitas of where they fit on the scale, and so they are now their own genre. This type of fashion is considered mature and sophisticated as they do not contain bouncy oversized skirts or frills, but a much more stern approach, consititing of the empire waist dresses, and their clothing and items are much more practical then the other Lolita's, enabling them to be least noticible in our society today. (Least noticible does not mean they still do not turn a few heads! Just less then the others.)

User Image

Wa Lolita
Lolita with a Japanese flavour. They incorperate your typical lolita dress, but with more floral patterns. It is basically your typical kinomo or hakama transformed into the lolita style. Cute and fashionable, Wa Lolita's are not as common as the other styles.

User Image

Qi Lolita
Replace the japanese flavour that the Wa Lolita's have and replace it with Chinese. This style has all things chinese, your madarin collars, Bao Bao hairstyles, and those dragon patterns we all love. Qi Lolita's are harder to come by then the Wa Lolita's, as Japan's domination over the world continues, the Qi Lolita's will continue to diminish.

User Image

GuroLoli
The aim of this Lolita style is much similar to the Gothic lolitas, they aim to confront and shock, but in a much different approach. These Lolita's dress in your typical lolita style, but they also wear plenty of blood stains, bruises and scars, bandages and exagerate the whole damsel in distress look. They pull the look off very well with their makeup skills. Often misunderstood for nutters for dresing up this way, the symbolic aim of the guro loli is to pass off a broken porcelain doll look.
