This was something Codail loved. It had rained the night before, leaving the savanna revived and imbued with a scent that washed away the lioness' sorrow, if even for a moment. The smell of clean, damp earth and water hanging in the air. The smell of things readying themselves to burst into bloom once again...the scent of life. It was everything one like her loved.

A twinge of jealousy ran through her at that thought. She was the Mother...she should have been doting on little ones herself. But no...there were no more little ones for Codail, not until she healed enough to love again. She sighed and sat by a small creek that had swelled with the rains. Leave it to a small thought to bring back her dark mood.

He was wet.

Nazih'Matata was a little annoyed that his hunt was cut short. He was going to bring something back for his adoptive mother but the rain ended that. That male that they traveled with most likly already got her something. Eh, he wasn't that hungry anyway. He pulled himself out of the small cover of a bush and shook off his fur, getting the rain water out of it. He growled slightly under his breath before starting to walk, the mud on the bottom of his paws was bothering him, he knew there had to been some kind of collection of father, a small creek or something some where.

So he followed his nose. Heading toward the water that he could smell all too good. He smirked softly as he got closer to the smell. But then something else caught his nose. The scent of another. It made him a little cerious, the young male started to wander a little faster, wanting to see who it was that he was smelling. He was so interested.

"Hello?" He called out as he slowly got closer to the other creature. He could make out a figure, it was a lioness. It made him smile to see another.

Codail's ears turned to the source of the voice, followed soon after by the rest of her. The pale lioness blinked at the young male, then smiled and ducked her head in something of a bow.

"Good day, young one. Looking for water to wash off the mud with?" He looked like he'd been caught out in the rain, rather than safe in a 'cave' like she had been. "The stream here is good and clean, and hasn't swelled so much as to wash one away with the mud."

This was a role she was used to...being motherly and kind. It was, after all, what had gotten her chosen to represent the Mother Moon in her motherly aspect.

Nazih flashed the female one of his more charming smiles. She seemed friendly enough, then again Nazih was one of the kind that would see one of the most unfriendly liones on the earth and would still walk right up to them and do what he planed on doing before he even said anything to the other. He flicked his hair out of his eyes before returning the bow, but more of a full on bow.

"Hello! Yes I am." He looked down at his paws and chuckled slightly, his normally white toes were hidden with sand. He made a small face before chuckling. "Ah, thank you for sharing this nice water with me in that case." He licked his lips and leaned down some to lap up a bit of water before moving forward and sticking his paws in the water one by one loving the feeling of the mud washing off of his paws. They were slowly becoming their orignal color.

"So, what is your name miss?" He asked as he picked up one of his front paws that were in the water and dipped it back in trying to get the mud out from inbetween his toes.

A polite young one! It was nice to see there were others who instilled good sense in their young ones. "I am Codail, a wandering lioness from the north." Looking for her family. Perhaps he might have seen her sister...She would ask soon enough.

"And what of you, muddy one?" Her smile was a calm, kind one now that she had acclimated herself to the other's presence.

Nazih looked up and grinned once more at the lioness. Rana taught him well as he had grown, and he was still learning from her. He flicked his tail around behind him before grinning softly. "It it very nice to meet you Codail." He leaned down and licked some of the remaining dirt off of one of his paws, making a face to the taste of dirt and leaning over to lap up some water to get the taste out of his mouth.

He chuckled at her comment before nodding. "My name is Nazih'Matata. However you may call me Nazih, I come from not to far off from here, near the ocean with my adoptive mother and her friend." He nodded once he really didn't remember where he orginally came from. Not that sure at all, he didn't remember. Slowly he started to clean off another of his paws.

The ocean? A place Codail had not seen, but had heard of...heard tales of its beauty and calming effects. She hadn't realized she'd wandered so close...Perhaps she would visit later.

"It is nice to meet you as well, Nazih. And it's nice to hear you have no harshness towards your mother." Far too often, in her journeys, she'd heard of adoptive parents being talked of badly. But to find one who did not share those views, seemingly, made her own heart sing. A mother was a mother, whether by blood or circumstance.

Nazih laughed at her for a moment, not meanly though, he looked up for a moment and flashed her another smile. "I can never have harshness toward my mother." He turned toward his paws for a moment before continuing talking. "I remember the day she found me... Well I found her. I thought she was a pile of leaves and curled up on top of her." He laughed before chuckling slightly. "She took me in. I could never be harsh to some one that kind, and who has raised me all of my life." He shook his head. Never. He wasn't as fond as that male that traveled with them but he would never say anything about it.

"And of you? Do you have some one to take care of, or to travel with?" He looked up at her finishing up his paws and flashing her another of his smiles before settling down on his haunches

Codail laughed softly. "Well, that's certainly a way to find a mother! I am glad she did not take offense." She frowned at his final words, sadness nipping at her once again.

"I am afraid I do not. I...had been traveling with my twin sister. But the earthquake separated us. I have been searching for her ever since." Her words were quiet, but strong. She could not allow herself to falter in front of a young one...even if her was nearly grown, he was still of an age that made Codail want to wrap him up and protect him.

Nazih chuckled softly then smiled again at the thought of it. He was glad at how nicely she reacted to him. "Yes, my mother is wonderful." He flicked his hair out of his eyes before settling more on his haunches, glad that his paws were now clean, but he wasn't just going to get up and leave, he didn't mind the conversation.

"I'm very sorry to hear about your lost." His ears folded down slightly as he talked. He knew the feeling of lost, his mother was killed right in front of him. And Sadiki... He was een sure that Rana has lost things in her life. Everyone around him had, and to tell the truth it made him feel a little better, he wasn't the only one in the world that had to put up with some kind of lost.

"I really do hope that you find her again." He said in the most comforting voice that he could. A small hopeful smile was on his maws, he really did hope the best for her.

"Thank you. I keep hope that I'll find her again." Yes...hope was a good thing. Even if it was empty, it still had a habit of keeping one's paws going long after the mind has given up. "But...that is such a depressing subject at the moment..." She smiled softly.

"Might I ask you about the ocean? I've heard it's beautiful, but never truly seen it for myself."

Nazih sighed through his nose then nodded in agreement. "Yes I have to agree, it is." He forced a half smlie before lapping up some more lapping up some water.

"Oh the ocean!" He grinned at her and nodded. "It is, very beautiful. My mother and her friend wanted to head that way and I happyily followed my mother." He nodded. "Water is not good to drink. So I've learned." He laughed at himself thinking about the times that he tried to drink the water when he was younger. "You really should see it, it is beautiful I think it is best at night."

Codail couldn't help but laugh again. "Well...I've heard it is salty, and I can't imagine salt would taste very good in water." For now, she pushed away the fact she was alone. For now, she was talking with another for more than just directions or clues.

"Perhaps...if you give me directions, I could go see it later? Does the moon reflect off the water like it does a lake?" It would be rather interesting to see Mother Moon's reflection in such a huge body of water... The thought made her smile.

Nazih'Matata chuckled deeply then nodded a amused smile growing on his maw. "Aye, it is very saltly, not much fun getting that taste out of your mouth, takes a lot of freash water to get the taste out, and if you drink to much it burns your throat." He shivered at the idea, he was glad that he now knew not to drink that water.

"Directions?" He floded his ears and closed his eyes thinking of the directions toward the ocean. "Go east. Thats really about it. And if your not that sure if your going the right way, just smell for the saltly air, that is the best way, the stronger it is the closer you are getting." Then her next question made the smile on his face grow more. "Ah, yes it does. It is beautiful." He stared off for a moment thinking about the way it looked at night, so beautiful it was one of his favorite sights.

Codail felt...a little better now. There was still sorrow in her heart, but it was a little less sharp. She bowed her head. "Well...you should get back to your mother. Thank you, though...for indulging in my curiosity."

She would visit the sea later. For now...for now, she would rest. And start her search anew. Muscail had to be out there, somewhere. And Codail would not stop looking. Not ever...
