Before you submit a lion for joing, please make sure you've read all the stickies! This pride can be very strict when it comes to some things, and it's best to know them. That said, here we go~
On Species This pride is for lions only. Avians are the only acceptable familiars at this point in time - everything else is generally food, or shares territory but isn't associated with all that much. Your lion can have a jackal/klipspringer/whatever friend they hang out with sometimes if you really want, but not an actual tag-along/familiar in the usual sense of the word.
Cheetahs in the swamp are virtually unheard of, although the occasional leopard might happen by. While they won't be actively driven out, since they're solitary and therefore considered relatively harmless, they're not welcome in amongst the pride either. Territories may overlap, but that's about as far as it goes. Hybrids will not be associated with in any way beyond being driven out.
There is to be absolutely no mating outside the species, or adopting outside of it for that matter. While there's nothing wrong with being kind to a stray cub/pup, they are not and will not ever be a part of the pride - only picked up and put back on their feet, if someone is so inclined.
Whiles pride members may wander in and out as they please, rogues/outsiders are NO LONGER WELCOME in the pride's territory. They won't be met with outright aggression, but they will be escorted out. Free-for-all joining is closed indefinitely. [This will take effect on June 11th; if you wish to join, get your application in before then.]
Adopted cubs are still be accepted, as well as mates brought back from name quests (they must be mates; try to exploit this and you'll be in trouble).
On Appearances Surprisingly enough, swampies aren't bothered by those with physical disabilities or injuries - as long as everything's working right on the inside, they're not worried about it. As for color, there are no requirements, and colors don't affect status in any way.
There are a few other rules, mainly concerning traditions, which you can find in the relevant info threads.

How It Works Joining adolescents and adults will be welcomed into the pride as 'Provisionaries,' at which point they'll have time to acquaint themselves with the pride and its customs, and for the ruler to make sure that they'll be acceptable members. They do not go on a naming quest - their life prior to joining the pride can be considered their quest, for all intents and purposes. In addition, any lion with no history or family history with the pride is considered a blank slate, with any and all taint from their former, 'unenlightened' life erased by their decision to become a Spirit-talker.
At some point, they will be given their new, true name - usually by another member of the pride. At this point, they'll most likely be certed as Hunter or Huntress, unless they're taken as a Suitor/Courtesan. Still, despite the title a lion/ess holds, they all serve as hunters and huntresses for the pride, with the ruler generally taking on the role of head hunter/huntress for practical purposes.
Joining cubs and juveniles will be filed right in with the pride's youth, and will be sent on their quest once they hit adolescence.
On the subject of descendants of banished members of the pride: Generally, when a lion/ess is ejected, it is because the individual has committed an offense which renders them, essentially, cursed. As such, this is sort of a tricky issue. XD The joining descendant will need to be a few generations removed from the ill luck, so it would work like this:
1.) Cursed Lion (tainted) 2.) Cursed Lion's Children (tainted) 3.) Cursed Lion's Grandchildren (tainted) 4.) Cursed Lion's Great-Grandchildren (acceptable)
As additional clarification, cubs whose birth was witnessed by a male are the first generation of tainted, just like their parents. I know it's pretty fussy, but remember - this pride is extremely superstitious for a reason. Last time they made their goddess angry, she flooded them out and killed most of the pride!
Just to note, relatives are not considered tainted as a result of something a family member does unless they were also involved - this includes children had prior to the offense.
