Another day, another patrol. While Belle slept soundly in his den, he was off making sure no one else had gotten lost in his territory. And if they had, he would lead them out again. But...it did get a bit monotonous, since few got lost in his territory these days.

He didn't mind but...it was nice to see an adult face now and again. If only for the assurance that he and Belle were still alive and not wandering in some crazed half-death. His territory had a habit of doing that to one's mind. The gloom made it seem like a place between life and death. Then again...considering the prides that bordered either side of his home, that wasn't surprising.

Heh...vampires and spirit-talkers. Both prides were a little nuts, he felt. But...who was he to judge. He was living between them, after all.

Olayinka had to wonder what she wad doing in these desolate lands. Just traveling through really. She was always on the move for some reason or another. She knew nothing of the lion prides and kept her nose out of their business. Even if she did happen upon one it would be a decent battle. She didn't take anything from any lion.

Her tail flickers as she gazes about her. There didn't even seem to be food in these gloomy lands. She lifted her paw as a distinctly large beetle scuttled by and watched it only a few moments before settling into a stalking position. In places like this food was food.

The beetle took off and she followed, keeping close behind it. Once it landed again she pounced and tore into it with her sharp teeth. Hardly a meal but she'd been traveling too long to turn anything down. As she finished up the meal she caught a scent. A male?

Who would live in an area like this? A flash of moving green caught her attention and she hunkered down to avoid being seen. Ah, that must be the source of the territory outlining. She picked herself back up and started to walk toward the stranger, stopping a good distance away.

She wasn't one to submit but kept her stance neutral, showing no signs of aggression but no signs of cowering off from his lands. She had just as much right to be there in her opinion if he granted her access.

A scent reached him and his eyes search about him for the source. His eyes fell on another leopard, a female, who seemed to have managed to avoid most of the mud and murky water that plagued the territory. Well...looks like he wasn't going to have another boring day.

With a polite smile on his face, he trotted over. Despite his obvious ease in his territory, some mud still clung to his paws. He nodded to the other.

"Good day, ma'am. Isn't often I see others here. What brings you to these lands?"

The female stayed firm but relaxed at his smile. At least he was proving to be somewhat friendly so far. When he spoke she gave way to a smile of her own.

He was pleasent enough. "I'm not surprised. This place seems... gloomy." She mentions glancing around at the area then bring up a paw to lick at it. "Me? I'm a traveler. I came this way on a whim and am in the mist of hunting. So far I haven't found anything. Is this your territory?" From the smell she would assume so but better ask.

He nodded. "I do live here. For many reasons, but I also work to keep others from getting lost in here. It's rather easy to if you don't know this area well." Like he did. Dovev knew every rock and puddle and mound of dirt.

"So...you did not get lost in here? I must say, that would be a first. Though if you're looking for better hunting in here, you have to look up or in the underbrush. Plenty of tree-climbers and birds to hunt, and warthogs seem to like the dryer areas of this bit of land...but tend to hide themselves well."

She listened to him speak and nodding in understanding. She wasn't lost. Or at least she didn't feel her self lost.

"No, I'm merely traveling. You can't get lost if you don't know where you're going to start with." She answers standing. She gazed up at his words, whiskers twitching. Ah, a good thing they were excellent climbers. "I tend to avoid warthogs. I've seen the damage their tusks can do." She says vaugely.

There was another scent about her. About the only time she actually talked to other leopards or anyone for that matter was during two things. Hunger, when she was wounded (if it was too dangerous).

She was hungry. She passes by him and brings her front half to a tree and starts to kneed it with her claws. "So tree dwellers? You wouldn't happen to have any baboons here would you? They're a favorite of mine."

"That is true...Where another would be lost, you would simply be stuck." He carefully ignored the other scent mingled with her own...It wasn't his place to ask, nor intrude. He was a gentleman...better behaved than most.

"Hmm...there might be a few baboons from the last troop that wandered through here. Most likely younger ones...not fully grown yet." The last troop had passed through a few weeks ago...and those who were too big to ride on their mothers' backs, but not yet grown, tended to get lost. And when they were lost...they stuck to he safety they knew. Trees.

Her interest was captured at the mention of baboons being near. "Those are the the easiest." She commented her tail flickering back and forth at the tip. Her eyes seemed suddenly very interested in any trees nearby. "I'm good at climbing so they shouldn't be a problem for me." She began to walk forward, eying him again. "I'm Olayinka." She finally introduced herself, looking to him with expectant eyes.

Dovev followed, nodding. "They are. And these trees are good for climbing. Sturdy enough to hold my weight, that's certain." And Dovev was no small leopard. "I am Dovev." Watching Olayinka was a bit...strange. She was pale-colored, and watching her move through the jungle-swamp was like watching a ghost. A very solid ghost. Perhaps that made it a little more eerie.

She looked over the male for a long while before her tail flickered up. Hmm, well that at least made it certain it could hold her. She leaped up gracefully and grabbed onto one of the tress climbing up it with a few jumps until she found a suitable branch to lay on.

"Then it sounds like I'll find what I'm looking for here."
