He led Kaeden off to the side of the gym, just about to the same place where he'd gone with Wisp, actually. Then he stopped and checked to make sure that the gift inside the festive bag wasn't going to get through the edges of its box soon. Seeing that it wasn't, he fluffed the tissue paper back up again and then smiled at the other boy. "Did you get everything else all right? I didn't know where to put any of it, since the sheet said you lived in some place called Neverland."

Kaeden grinned a gaped tooth grin at the other boy, now having a good idea of what this was. "Yeah, I got them alright. Thanks!" he said. At least he knew Carlisle from their math class.

He still hadn't read the book though. He was going to, because it was about treasure, and his cousins were into treasure. It was best to learn those things.

"Well, I'm your Secret Santa," said Carlisle, holding out the bag with both hands. "Be careful while you're opening it, okay? It's sharp!"

"It's sharp?" Kaeden asked curiously, taking the package from the other boy. Sharp huh? Well, he wasn't going to get his hopes up. He had told Chloe, the one who was his guardian, about what he wanted, and she fussed at him. Chloe was over protective like that.

Carefully he took out the tissue. Then his jaw dropped.

It was a fairly sensible dagger, with a wire-wrapped hilt so the grip would be quite sure. It would be hard to stab oneself with it, anyway. "It goes with all the other stuff I got you for caring for it," he said uncertainly. "And I gave you the sheath, too, yesterday."

He tucked his arms behind his back, wondering if anyone else felt this nervous upon presenting another person with their gift. What if he had misheard Sugita? Not likely, but still...

"No.. way!" Kaeden said after a very long moment of gawking at it. So long, one might have thought he didn't like it. The grin on his face said otherwise: he really liked it.

Carefully he pulled the dagger out. "This is great! I was wondering what everything else was for," he admitted. Now it all made sense. He then reached into his bag, pulling out the sheath. He brought it, hoping against hope.

He grinned, relief clear on his face. "I'm not that mean," he said, "Yanno, to give you all that stuff and then not give you anything to do with it. You know?"

Then he paused. "Uh, my uncle says I'm supposed to give you this, too. It tells you what not to do with it and stuff." He dug around in the pockets of his dress slacks and passed a palm-sized book over to Kaeden; it was covered in black leather. Carlisle looked a little embarrassed. "I mean, most of it is common sense anyway, right?"

Kaeden gave him an apologetic grin, for thinking that he wouldn't give something to go in the sheath. That it looked as nice as it did was an extra bonus.

Christmas was starting to rule in his book of important holidays to know.

Then he looked at the leather-bound book that he pulled out, taking that as well. This one seemed to be different that the other one. He opened it to inspect it. "It is?" he asked a little curiously before starting to read carefully the first few lines.

Did daggers come with instruction books?

"Yeah, like, don't put it away dirty, and stuff-" which happened to be the first line of the book. It seemed to have been written a long time ago, but it had diagrams and such to show how to use the whetstones and polishing cloths. "-Uncle Astaroshe says that 'cause I gave it to you, I gotta give you the information you need to not kill yourself with it. You'll be careful, right?"

Seriously, Kaeden seemed like a nice person, so why wouldn't Carlisle want him to not off himself?

He couldn't help but be amused at this. This was an important book, though and one he'd make an effort to read it. He planned on keeping this dagger. Again, he grinned at the other boy, who he was liking.

"Right, I wont off myself with it. Promise. On the island, we didn't have knives and things like this.... well, did if you were lucky enough. Think of living there like camping," he added.

"Thanks," he said, sounding quite happy now. "That's good. I've never been camping, so... It sounds like fun, though," he offered, shrugging uncertainly. "I mean, the whole being-out-in-the-wilderness thing."
