To say the least, Giza was in a very, very bad mood. So bad that she had missed her last session was Doto, and had seriously considered not bothering with this play-date either. Her brother was gone. He had been taken from her... and by people that their family had trusted. Two lionesses that her family had trusted. Warriors who had helped to train her, and they had taken her brother and dissapeared.

She wasn't in good humor. Unusal for her. Hurting things and talking to Doto usually put her in a good mood but now... now all she wanted to do was take a bite out of that damned lioness and her little friend. Traitors. If Giza had ever wanted to kill someone -which she hadn't- it would have been them.

Now she was irritated and pacing because Doto was late, no doubt because she had failed to show up the week before. Now she would have to wait for him. And she was gnashing her teeth, growling and pacing. Giza was so far beyond mad she couldn't believe it. But her father... her father had been training her. He was taking the training of his daughters far more seriously now. Good. But she wanted her brother back.

User ImageDoto knew he was late, but he had a feeling it wouldn't matter. She hadn't shown up before, and he couldn't help but feel slightly betrayed by it. Stood up. So he was purposefully taking his time, the spiteful little creature he was. He knew it was petty, and he would never own up to this particular character flaw. Yet thinking about it did nothing to quicken his step.

Moving through the grass, he spotted the tree nearby and soon saw his partner in crime pacing near by. He drew a breath and stepped out into the small clearing, tilting his head at her as he padded closer.

"You look upset," Doto said, reading her expression and her eyes in a few moments. His anger at her dropped as he curiously fixed his red eyes on her. He didn't look particularly sympathetic, but he did look interested. He wanted to hear what was bothering her, and if he could help he would, but he wouldn't go out of his way. He knew that some times a friendly word only served to fuel the flames. And he was, ultimately, not too great at finding friendly words in his vocabulary anyway.

"What's happened?"

Giza very nearly turned and hissed at Doto the moment he came near her, but she managed to retain her calm disposition. Sort of. Kind of. Not really. No. She was beyond her calm, good-natured -albiet dark- personality. She was furious, and Doto being so late had not improved her bad mood.

She looked at him, growling a little, though not at him, "Like you care about what's wrong." Not that she wasn't going to tell him. She wanted to vent. To yell. To scream... and of course she couldn't do that anywhere near her family. Except perhaps to her mother. But even then... it would show too much weakness. What Doto thought of her didn't matter.

"We were betrayed. My family." She muttered, continuing to pace back and forth, kicking a stone -hard. "Some of our warriors... our fellow assassins... they kidnapped my brother and left. The stupid... stupid bitches just took him and left!" She very nearly screamed the last part with frustration.

Then she took a deep breath, calming herself, "That's why I wasn't there. Last week. Family meeting. Because of what they did. We've been trying to track them down. Hasn't been going well."

Doto frowned. He watched as she paced, listening impassively as she raged. He was a bit irritated that anger was directed toward him, but he understood where it was stemming from. She had always been very connected to her family, much more so than him and his, so this new unrest she was telling him about seemed a legitimate reason for her to be so mad.

Still, he had shown up last time, and she hadn't. And he had shown up this time, late or not. So it wasn't like she had any real right to be angry with him. Fur bristling, the black lion fixed his red eyes on his friend.

"We're friends," he pointed out, however odd a friendship it was, "so of course I care what's wrong." It was odd for him to say. He didn't know much about being a nice guy, and caring was definitely out of his normal emotional range. Still, he felt it was true.

"I'm sorry to hear about your sibling, though. That seems like a betrayal that should get those kidnappers killed, isn't it? If you're all assassins, I can't imagine that was the best decision on their part. If I can help in anyway, just let me know. I've got a mind in here that might be good for catching runaways. Or... you can just talk to me. What are you planning on doing when they're found?"

Giza sighed and sat down. Then got up. Then sat down again, unsure of what to do with herself. Even she, though it was a weird feeling, but plenty of that had been going around lately, felt bad about snapping at Doto, she wasn't quite sorry enough to be any less angry. She couldn't really deal with emotions well, and before then she had only had two: Humor, and a competative spirit. This was new, and she was not very fond of it.

"I know we're friends." She was, her voice blunt, still angry. Less towards him now, "But finding them won't be easy... stupid little..." She used a word she had only just recently heard her father use for description, "bitches. Both of them. But they're assassins too. They've lived with us, trained me, since I was born. My father... my mother, they were all friends. And the betrayed us. We never should have trusted them. Never." She could see, more and more, why her parents didn't trust many people. It was only going to get worse from then on.

"And as to what happens... it depends on who finds them. Kyra finds them, they're dead. Dad finds them, they're dead. I find them..." She growled, in a way hoping that she would be big enough to take them both down by then, "If I find them, then I'm dragging them back here, and you and I are going to make them wish they were never born." And that idea seemed to cheer her up immensly, "You know... if you're interested."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 31, 2008 4:21 pm

"How are you to know who is going to betray you? I think that's just the nature of our species. How do you know I'll never betray you? It's the risk you take, to achieve your own ends. That doesn't make it any easier though, when they do." He watched her coolly, though his chest was burning. Why was he so angry?

He felt as though someone had done something against him. That he had been betrayed. He had never met these lions, yet he hated them, and when she said they would die, he was glad for it. He didn't know her family, but he wanted to get revenge for them, or at least help them to see it. He would offer whatever assistance he could, be it to help them be found, or just to give Giza something to distract her.

"Oh, I'm interested. That would be a very good plan, I think." he sat himself down next to her, looking sideways over his shoulder at her with his fathomless, burning red eyes. He grinned, baring his teeth, "if you bring them to me, we'll have a grand old time showing them just why you don't betray those closest to you. Because I have a feeling you'd know enough about them to do some real damage. And pay back is just... it's just great."

He sighed, watching her for a moment, "are you going to be okay?"

"I know, I know..." Giza muttered, kicking dirt back and froth between her paws, "I've taken the risk, you know? Trusting you, even though my father told me not to. You're a lot more fun than hanging out alone." She sighed, sitting up and tilting her head back, "But it sucks. Being betrayed sucks."

What he felt was about how she felt. But she loved and feared and respected every single member of her family. She really did. She had respected the women who had kidnapped her brother for no reason other than because they could. Torn her family to shreds in one night. And that stung.

She grinned at him a little, "It's good to know that you'd help me..." Then she nodded, "I'll be alright. Better when we finally get a piece of those two and get my brother back... but I'll be alright. I'll be the best if I get a chance to dig my claws into them... and I know them well. Maybe not as well as I thought, but well enough. They'll regret the fact that they took my brother... because I'll be so much worse." She promised, grinning at Doto widely now, "And it will be so much more fun with your help."

Doto nodded quietly, watching her as she spoke. He nodded, his expression not entirely blank. There was a confidence in his face, deep within his red eyes and managing to tweak the muscles of his face to reflect it. Not a grin or a frown, but some mix of the two. It was a promise, grim and absolute, that he was worth the risk. He wasn't about to betray any one, let alone his one true friend.

"Good. I like it better when we're having fun. Besides, I think I'm about matching your size now, so we could do some serious damage if we had to. I'd let you have most of the fun, of course. It's not my place to take your revenge from you. Even if I do like playing." He grinned.

He was glad to have her looking a little less distraught now, and the grin on her face was reassuring. To anyone else it might have been sinister and worrisome, but to Doto it was a sign that she meant what she was saying. They would get revenge one day, and he would help them with that if he could. There was no doubt in his mind. Still, it was good to change the subject.

"I am catching up to you, though, aren't I?" he said proudly, puffing out his chest a bit, "I knew it wouldn't take too long."

Giza let her sinister thoughts in reguard to her old 'friends' run wild. She and Doto would certainly have fun if they ever caught up to them... and they would suffer. They would all suffer, of that she had no doubt. Her yellow eyes flashed with anticipation... though she knew it would be a while before she and Doto were prepared for such a step as taking those two on and rescuing her brother. But it would happen one day.

"You're not-" She almost laughed when he said he was her size now, but she had to stop abruptly, take a step back, observe their heighs and then reply, "Ah. Well then... that's..." She looked them over again, holding up her paw and touching his head, and then her own, "Huh..."

She stepped back again, observed him, and saw that he was, in fact, bigger than the last time she had seen him. Bigger than she was even, and she was large for a lioness. She couldn't believe how much he had grown in only two weeks since they had last seen each other! Well... that was no fun at all, now was it?

Well, except they could do way more now, and that was fun. Maybe they'd be able to take on her 'aunts' sooner than anticipated, "You are bigger than me now. Not by much though, and just you wait, I'll catch up again soon." She said, indignant, but she still grinned in her maniacle way. She was impressed, that much was true.

Doto always had a way of putting her in a good mood.

Doto watched her, liking the look that came to her eyes. He was excited by the idea of revenge, despite it not being his own personal injury. He was more than willing to involve himself, if it meant a target and some good, cruel fun. He could only imagine what it would be like, though, and he knew he was way off. But he would learn, and they would prepare.

And it would be great.

His grin split wide when she suddenly realized he was, in fact, getting bigger. He was glad for his growth spurt, and his parents had told him he was due for more in time. These were the days they grew the most, his father had told him, and since he was from a line of males who were quite large, he still had a lot of growing to do. Just one more thing he couldn't wait for.

"You can catch up all you want, I'll just get bigger. You haven't seen my father: he's a big lion. The only thing I respect him for, really, is his size. And he can't even control that. I'm glad I've got those genes though. They'll really help me when I want to play my games. You'll have to teach me though, I think. I don't learn much from him, and though I know a lot about our style of fun already, I think you learn a lot more useful tricks with your family than I have mine. If I'm going to be helpful, I guess you'll have to show me."

Oh, the idea of revenge was at the forefront of Giza's mind, despite everything else she said. She wanted her brother back, and it would be... thrilling and chilling to get them back. Getting Doto involved, since he was so willing, was even more fun. He would certainly keep her from going too far and killing her 'aunts' by mistake. And she wouldn't want that. No. She would want them alive and... well, not "well" to be certain.

It would be better than great. It would be fantastic.

Still... she wasn't pleased that he was suddenly bigger than she was. Her family was naturally... well, huge. Her father was one of the biggest lions she had ever seen -easily outclassing any mercs she caught a glimpse of when they were chased. But still, she was much bigger than most females, the size of most normal males her age even... but still Doto managed to be bigger! No fair.

"We'll see what happens when I grow next." Giza teased, obviously thrilled now, her bad mood long since forgotten, "My father is a huge lion as well... and he maintains it quite well." She grinned, knowing from what Doto had told her that his father was useless, "I could teach you a whole lot more you know? We do this... professionally. The fighting warrior game. We're killers, we do it professionally... well, they are. Killing is still uncooth. But I could teach you a few tricks if you like." She winked, clearly pleased to do it.

"Professionally? Now that sounds fun. I could never get away with something like that, where I live. Father and mother are both too kind, and I guess I have to admit I wouldn't want to put my family in any real danger. As much as I hate them, if something bad is going to happen to them, I'd rather be responsible for it than others."

He didn't notice how much he had changed in his short time on the earth. For the beginning he had been an aloof, angry little cub and yet, spending day in and day out with a family he despised, he had still managed to become possessive over them. They were his to hate, his to torture, and he would not have any one else come in and mess with them. If he got into trouble, he would have to make sure it did not come back to his home.

"I'd make a good student, though," Doto said with a grin, nodding, "I'm a fast learner, and I keep things with me for a while. My memory is good, I mean, so anything you do teach me won't get lost under something superficial or useless."

Giza giggled a little, shaking her head, "Friendliness will get you no where in this world! Well... unless it means you have more allies to fight with, I suppose. But it's the strong who survive and the weak who have to die, or at least that's what my daddy is always saying." She said, remembering her lessons very well. Lessons from some women she now wanted dead... but who was counting, really?

Giza had never truly been an 'angry' cub, or perhaps it could be said that her anger had been directed from an early age. She always knew where she was to go and what she was to do... but her loyalty and love for her family had increased over time. This 'break' had shown her how much she truly loved them... and would miss them if they were gone.

"Well, that's good!" She informed him, sitting up straight, "Then I'll teach you some lessons! Then, one day, if my big daddy is in a good mood, I'll take you there and he can decide if you're any good!" She looked thoughtful, seeming to quite like this idea, "Hum... We'll start with... Well... what do you wanna start with?"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 24, 2009 6:24 pm

Doto looked thoughtfully at the ground for a long moment. He was glad Giza was in a better mood now, that was for sure. He hadn't thought they were going to dive in right away, and now he couldn't think of what he might need to know. Learning, for him, was so much more about experience and 'as you go'. Trying to think of something he didn't know was much more difficult than he thought it should be.

"Well, some of the basics of your art, I guess," he said, eyes flashing as he looked up, "I've seen you work before, but I don't know what thought you put into it, or what determines a success or a failure. And I don't know if that's part of your family's teachings, or just you own games."

He grinned.

"I'd also be interested in this whole assassin thing. What makes it different to hunting prey? After all, some of them have as keen senses as most lions, so it's the same theory, right?" he was pretty sure it wasn't.

Giza was glad that she was finally able to get over her emotional meltdown earlier. She was glad that she had come to meet Doto, because her family certainly hadn't been helping her usually good mood with their bitterness. Of course, the feeling of betrayal wasn't gone. It wasn't going anywhere for a very long time. But still this was... erm... "positive"?

"Okay... the basics... Oh!" Giza said, her brain completely scattered. She wasn't likely to be a very good teacher, truth be told, because she could barely keep herself together with everything she knew normally. Rapt attention only came to her during her 'art'. "Okay! Circles... circles are very important. Because if someone starts to circle you, you can never show your back. Not ever. Because the moment you show your back, anyone can sink their claws into you and attack. So never show your back. That's important!" She seemed pleased that she had been able to manage to think of something useful.

Then she sat down, looking very... teacherly, "Ah, assassins and hunters are very different. Because lions are big and they fight back, and they can be very nasty... I mean, other creatures have keen senses. Sure. They're expecting to die, and lions and leopards and whatever... they aren't always." She tilted her head thoughtfully, "So... assassin thing helps you out. You're ready for the big bad."
