I'm pretty sure it means "me" or "I" but I'm not that fluent in japanese so don't count on it xp

"Watashi" is referring to ones self.
It could be used by male or female.
Males just have a alternate word, "boku", because the Japanese language is just so cool like that.

Actually, 私゛わたし゛ can mean the english words "I" or "me" depending on its purpose in the sentence as indicated by the particle that follows it and it is often used by both men and women (However あたし is more common with women. ("I" in english is the personal pronoun and "me" is the inderect object pronoun)
.
僕゛ぼく゛ is indeed used almost soley by males however it is only used when speaking to someone of higher authority than the speaker.
(僕゛ぼく゛ originally meant manservant)

o.o can't read japanese lol.

so "watashi" is used by both men and women.

"boku" is used only by males.

is that right? so since I'm a girl I'd go

watashi namae wa whatever my name is.
and if I were a guy it'd be

boku namae wa

interesting! lol

To say ones name you would go...
私/僕 名前は 〜 です。 (My name is ~)

Don't forget your particles! They are a pain in the butt, but sadly, you need them.

わたし(watashi) is more formal, it's the standard way of saying "I" in Japan...it's the one you're gonna use the most. If you wanna be more informal you can use あたし(atashi) if you're a girl or ぼく(boku) if you're a boy.
If you're speaking to someone more important than you, you do NOT use boku, since you should speak in a formal way.

If you wanna say that in correct japanese it's
こんばんは、私は(name)です。私は日本語を習っています。
konbanwa, watashi wa (name) desu. watashi wa nihongo o naratte imasu.
Good evening, I'm (name). I'm learning japanese.

^^

Last word is gomen?
