The brisk morning air flowed through the fur of the small family. Machu was sleeping with a few of their pups curled around him. It was time for the normal routine. Leini would get up and hunt in the early morning. She enjoyed it; the chase. Having delicate bones crushed between her jaw. It was exilarating.
For now, though. Leini would just enjoy the veiw of the morning and the warmth of her den. On mornings like this, she almost felt guilty, leaving her old family behind and starting new. She have a sad sigh and pulled herself up to start the hunt.
"Mamma," A small tired voice called to her from inside the den. Leini turned her red eyes to gaze at one her small pups. Little Maziwa. She looked just like her daddy, but retained the family trait of red eyes. A smile took hold of Leini's maw and she answered the call."Yes, little one," She asked the small pup.
"Where're you going?" The orange pup asked.

Jua lifted his head sleepily, awakened by his sibling's voice. Opening his eyes, he saw Maziwa sitting off to the side of him; she and him looked so similar, and he was glad to have a sibling that resembled him so much. "What are you doing up, Maziwa?" Jua rubbed his tired eyes with his paw, not noticing his mother standing above her.

Maziwa looked to her brother. Her older brother, as she new. At least in the order they were born. "Mamma's up," She told her brother, waking up a bit more. The small orange female pushed herself closer to her brother for warmth.
Leini watched the interaction from above, watching them carefully with a smile on her maw. Her pups were so beautiful; all of them were. She lowered her head to nuzzle to the orange pups that lay awake. "You two should go back to sleep," She whispered to the two lovingly.

Jua looked up at his mother, then returned his gaze to Maziwa who had moved next to him. Her body was a nice source of heat in the early morning, and he nosed his head next to hers. "Why are you up so early, mamma?" he had a faint idea, but his mind was largely clouded due to his lack of sleep.

The small orange pup lay her head near her brothers paws and closed her eyes. She was still tired... Then again, she was always tired. She figured she got it from her dad. "I'm going to hunt," She heard her mother say to her brother. A wide yawn escaped Maziwa.

"Going out to hunt? This early? Why not wait for papa?" Jua lazily got to his feet, excited at the prospect of a hunt. "I want to come with you!" he wrapped himself around his mother's front leg, refusing to be pryed away.

Leini would laugh, if not the fear to wake up the rest of the pups and Machu. "I usually get up to hunt this early," Leini said in a whisper. She gave a smile at the excitment her pup displayed. "You can come," She consented.
When Jua pulled up and away from her, Maziwa was startled awake. She gave a wide yawn, knowing she probably wouldn't get back to sleep anytime soon. "I'll go, too," She said tiredculy, pulled herself off of the den's floor. "Alright," She heard her mother's voice. "But you both have to stick close and not stray from my side, alright?"

Jua bounced with happiness at going out on his first hunt with his mother; his sister was an added bonuce, as he now had someone to talk to. "This is gonna be fun!"

Maziwa walked, more clamly than her brother, out of the den to follow their mother. She gave a wide yawn and her feet slightly drug across the ground in an almost reluctance. Leini smiled at her tired daughter and nudged her a little. "Try to keep quiet, kay?" Leini said happily as she led the pups out of the den. It would be an interesting morning.

Jua's lips puckered out slightly as he trotted along in silence; his sister was visibly tired, so he chose not to bother her. His inner excitement grew with every step, as he knew that he would be a part of something amazing. Having never gone out on a kill before, Jua had no idea as to what to expect; the only thing he wanted was to come home triumphantly with his head held high with success. His father would be proud too, he thought quietly.
In an almost trance like state, Jua lowered himself to the ground and slinked along, keeping his eyes out for any signs of movement.

Leini held her head high, looking around. The herds of preybeasts didn't go terribly close to dog dens. Her nose was working, sniffing out for prey and possible threats to her pups. Lions, cheetah and other creatures that would have no qualms killing one of her pups.
"I wake early to make the catch easier. We have no pack, so it iks harder to hunt. Hunting the tired and weak... It's the easiest and best way," Leini said softly to her pups. With a smile, Leini watched her son slinking in the ground.
Maziwa watched her brother for a moment before grinning. She lowered her body to the ground. She slunk closer to him and pounced...

Being struck onto his back by his sister, Jua quickly jumped to his feet, sticking his rear in the air, but keeping his chest to the ground. He wobbled his tail back and forth, and pounced right back at his sister, but, being slightly smaller than she, bounced off of her after hitting her.

Maziwa giggled and pounced on her brother again. She nipped at him playfully before dashing out up front. "Can't catch me!" She sang. Leini giggled a bit before trotting forward. "Don't fall behind you two," Leini warned. She didn't mind if they played, but dangers lurked...

Jua, upset at his defeat, sat up abruptly and trotted behind his mother, hiding himself amongst her tail. He peered around her for his orange counterpart and lunged at his sister, grasping onto her back.

Maziwa squeaked at the sudden pounce on her back. She lunged forward to get away, though her brother has latched on. She shook her fur in aggitation.
