AIM LOG: Felyn & _ p a o cx

Living out in the open had gotten significantly easier since her run-in with that awfully kind lion. Her change of luck, as she so-called it, was probably the only reason it had gotten easier at all. Naya had been fortunate enough, the past few days, to find shelter before nightfall, shade during the particularly hot times of the day, and water at least once at some point during her journey. She had a sort of bounce in her step as she walked lightly that morning, fully-rested and ready for more. It'd take a lot to bring her down, but for her own sanity she hoped nothing would try. She'd gotten so far, it'd be a shame to have her journey cut short by a streak of bad luck and a quick but painful death by becoming a hyena's meal. No doubt that she could outrun at least two, but it'd be hard to if there was more..

Strangely enough, the last thing that was really on the dark female's mind was becoming a hyena's meal. As it was, she was traveling with three and had up to five in her party at any given time. True, they weren't one's typical hyena, but she had come to love them like her own family. In fact, she was assured their presence kept some of their darker kin from attacking the small gaggle of travellers. Today she was spending a much-earned day sunbathing on a rock, thoughts of her mate, three not-so-cub-like-cubs and hyena companions pushed to the back of her thoughts. It wasn't every day that she just got to relax.

A yawn cracked her jaws, her tangerine eyes opening lazily as a wind drifted towards her, bringing her the scent of another. "Hello," she called out, a lazy drawl to her voice as she did so.

Naya's ears twitched gently at the sound of another voice. For a second she thought she imagined it, figuring the heat might've been getting to her - perhaps a sign that her luck was running out. But she took a look around, just to be safe, and sure enough there lay a lioness not too far off. She...was kind of just lying there...sunbathing? The femme quirked a brow and approached her, guard completely down. By the sound of her voice she probably meant no harm, and with the way she was lying down Naya could easily take off on a sprint if anything should happen. "Hello," she replied in her usual perky tone. "That looks awfully comfortable, mind if I join you?"

Raylan smiled rather pleasantly at the female as she approached, bright eyes glinting slightly in the sun as they followed her form along her path. "Not at all dear," she chirped happily, rolling onto her side as if to make room, although given the fact that she was lying on the ground, there was really an infinite amount of space to be taken up. Still, it was the invitational aspect of the motion that mattered in the end. "Sunbathing is a favorite guilty pleasure of mine, especially when I find the time to get away from my family," she said with a small laugh, her eyes crinkling at the corners with the pure mirth.

The femme was happy to find that she had stumbled across rather pleasant company, and with a nod and a smile she took up the space beside the lioness. There was a good space between them though, as Naya wasn't particularly comfortable lying down too close to stranger, and was almost sure that she felt the same way. The cheetah femme chuckled at what she said, bringing her back to those times when she caught her mother doing the same thing every now and again when she still lived with them. "My mother was the same." Naya smiled at the memory of her mother, lonely as it was to think about the family she was no longer with. "Getting away from family isn't something I can relate to, but I enjoy sunbathing every now and again as well."

"I think all mothers just enjoy a little time to themselves every now and then, though I don't know a single one who would trade all the alone time in the world for even one of their cubs," she said in a chatty manner, her smile permanently in place as she turned to look at the cheetah female at her side. She probably wouldn't have minded how close she sat - after Izulu, there was no such thing as personal space anymore. However, she did realize that most others still had boundaries in place and she wasn't one to go around breaking them on purpose. "I'm sure one day you'll have a family all your own and you'll understand," she said with a chuckle, her tail flicking behind her. "I'm Raylan by the way," she nodded as she spoke, head dipping in a polite manner.

"She always gave us special attention after she got back though," she recalled a bit more, the smile getting a bit wider. "Must have been something she did to make up for the time she didn't spend with us that day." The last comment, though, brought her back to the present and she blinked, out of words for a moment. The thought of having her own family had never really crossed her mind until just now. Sure, she remembered her family but...having her own cubs? Unlikely, at least if things went her way. "I doubt that," she replied with a chuckle. "About having my own family, I mean. I don't think I'd make a very good mother. Ah, and I'm Naya. It's nice to meet you."

She laughed as the girl reminisced about how her mother spent more time with them after she came back from her 'alone time'. Thinking about it, she did do just that with her cubs. "When you say that, I do the same thing with my cubs. Although, now, they're a bit older and I don't feel so bad about leaving them since they're all busy with their own things." The last bit had left her a little sulky as of late, but with Enok and Oth to keep her company, she could never truly complain. Besides, she was almost positive that Eros was going to be bringing home grandcubs any day now. "You never know, you find yourself in the most surprising situations," she smirked pleasantly, shrugging her shoulders, and then nodded at the introduction. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Naya."

She shrugged. Sure, that was true; she'd been in strange enough situations to know that she might find herself in one that landed her with cubs. Still...it was a little weird to think about being a mother. "I guess so.." she replied, "I'm actually a little more worried about finding the right guy. If I ever do find him, it's possible I'd change my mind." Naya grinned and closed her eyes, her mind going back once more to conversations she had with her mom. "My mom used to tell me the story of how she met my dad. She was a great storyteller...but I doubt any of it was true. It was too romantic and...icky, my younger brother called it." She paused and chuckled at the memory. "Maybe she figured if she did that, though, then none of her cubs would be discouraged when it came to finding a mate."

She nodded knowingly at the other female as she spoke of finding the right guy. She supposed she never would have thought herself capable of taking care of cubs, not with her past, until she met Enok. He had been the right male for her and it had only been a matter of time until they had started their own happy little family. "Well, I'm not so sure she's just telling you a story. Sometimes the most romantic stories are very true. My own story had a bit of romance to it, I suppose." She smiled at the thought and put her head on her paws with a contended sigh. "Maybe she did just want you to be happy, though."

Naya smiled a bit sadly at the other's words, wanting to believe them but knowing better. "Maybe," she said slowly, "But you'd think with such a romance the guy would stick around for the rest of your life." She shrugged it off and plastered on her face a rather stoic expression. "He said he got 'restless' and left after my mother had her second litter." Another shrug. "My mom wasn't too phased by it though, almost like she expected him to leave at some point. That's mainly what made me second-guess her stories." At this point she shoved the thoughts to the very back of her mind, not wanting such a pleasant conversation to be ruined by her past. "Ah, sorry! Didn't mean to get all...serious like that." Naya smiled sheepishly at the lioness, ever so slightly embarrassed.

She listened to what she was saying, letting the thoughts roll over in her head. "Just because things change doesn't make what originally happened any less romantic, does it?" She looked over at the female, tilting her head to the side as she asked her the question. She knew that even if Enok was gone tomorrow, it wouldn't change the fact that they had met in a mysterious, romantic wa. "Our hearts may grow and change, but the past doesn't. She could still be telling the truth." She did, however, nod her head and look away when the female seemed to decide she didn't want to truly discuss this anymore. No need to dig at old wounds, she supposed. "No trouble at all, dear."

She thought on what she said for a moment, and nodded. "I guess it doesn't," she answered, then decidedly dropped the subject and rolled onto her stomach. "Anyway, I think it's about time I got going. Still need to find some place to stay for the night." Naya then stood up, stretched out a bit, and smiled down the Raylan. "Thanks for letting me hang around. I know I might've been a little bit of a downer...sorry about that." She turned around, ready to head off. "And um...thanks for the talk. You really gave me some things to think about.." And with that (rather awkward-sounding goodbye) she started out again, not wanting to think about what they talked about at the moment. But she'd definitely give it a shot later that night.

"Alright then," she said with a pleasant smile, lifting her head as the female stood up once more, ready to leave. She shifted so she could watch her better, squinting her eyes up to peer at her better against the sun in the distance. "You're quite welcome, dear, and I don't mind the talk at all. Don't let things get you down so much, you never really know what's true or not." She simply smiled, putting her head back as she turned away again. "Bye, darling, it was nice meeting you!" She called out, then shut her eyes so she could go back to her peaceful sunbathing.
