Corsa'lion sauntered across the mid-day plains, not minding the heat or the sun as it shone across his pink pelt, casting him also with a golden hue. His face held a charming smile, and all was right in the lion's world.

His path was without destination, and his intents delightfully simple, as he looked for a companion with which to share the day.

The deep turquoise leopard sat and stared in horror at his paw. There was a huge, disgusting blob of mud and... who knows what caked on there. He didn't know what, didn't really want to know, but it stank. But there was no water around. Only a small muddy puddle that he was standing over, looking from it to his paw with a frown. His ears tilted back and he sat, looking torn. The water might get the icky stuff off, but then there would be more mud on his fur...

Both made him cringe. But perhaps he could get most of it then find cleaner water... That's it... He whined and grimaced, dipping his paw in the murky water. Grimacing, leaning back and waving his paw around in it in a rather feminine manner, eyes closed tightly.

The pink lion seldom noticed the leopard upon his horizon for the same blue fur that merged into the sky. His curiosity was peaked, and he stepped forward. Hesitantly. His head tilted and his grin remained as he carefully approached.

The leopard seemed to be sitting serenely, and his posture unassuming, but Corsa'lion let his paws fall short, leaving plenty of time for his presence to be noticed. He cleared his throat softly, and in his deep voice, hollerd, "Hullo!"

The leopard tensed, the fur on his back standing on end. His eyes a bit wider, he turned his head towards the lion slowly. Oh NO! He couldn't be caught like this! Smelly and dirty! It... it was disgraceful!

"U-um..." He stammered, blinking at him slowly. "H-hi!" Not wanting to be rude at least, he replied, but anxiously. He kept his back to him, hiding the dirty paw.

Corsa'lion headed forward still, smiling and nodding to the leopard's words. His massive head tilted curiously as he saw the leopard stifle his paw, but was more interested in something else. He sat near the leopard, and bowed his head. "So, well, I'm Corsa'lion, and its nice to meet you." He chuckled nervously, and took his eyes from his new companion and cast them to the sky. "Lovely day, isn't it?" He smiled, and was patient, happy that he'd found someone to enjoy it with.

"Ah, um..." He glances up at the sky too, still keeping his dirty paw tucked away close to his stomach, hidden from view. "Y-yes, it is. It's very beautiful..." He nods a little, glancing back down at him. He paused for a moment to admire the shiny pink fur.. So well taken care of! He smiled a bit more easily, though still a bit anxious.

"I'm Zurinuni... It's nice to meet you too."

Corsa'lion grinned and nodded, settling down further into a lying position, oblivious to whatever he may be laying his white belly on. His deep voice was inviting as he asked, "And how have you been spending it, Zurinuni?" The lion closed his eyes, letting the sun wash over his face, and the rumble from his throat was a happy one. As he waited for an answer, he allowed himself to glance over from the corner of his eyes, and his were met with the bird on Zuri's side.

Zuri blinked a little, still looking a little distracted. And most certainly a bit disturbed by his dirtiness... When Corsa laid down his eyes widened a little. He... was laying in the dirt! And his fur was so white and pretty, it was... tragic! The leopard let out a slight whimper as he watched, frowning. Then he remembered that he was asked a question, and after the long pause he cleared his throat.

"O-oh... nothing... really..." He continued to hold his paw out of sight, his voice a bit shakey. He shifted, making the bird on his side ripple a little, as if alive and shifting as well.

The large pink lion tilted his head as he lay, wondering what on earth could have disturbed Zuri so much. He wriggled a bit in the dirt before assuming once more a sitting position as his eyebrows furrowed in concern. It was only then that he noticed the particular way that Zuri held his paw, out of sight. But he could barely make out a dark stain upon it, and fearing the worst, his assumption was blood. He shot to his feet, and circled Zuri, now sitting in front of him, his head held forward, eyes searching, and his mouth in a worried frown. But he pulled his blue eyes away from the paw to meet Zuri's, looking for any sign of pain or discomfort before asking, "Zuri, are you alright? Is something wrong with your paw?!"

Zurin blinked at the lion slowly, eyes widening a tad. He had noticed... He had noticed the dirt on him! Of course, in the leopard's mind, being dirty was just as bad as being hurt, if not worse... So he took Corsa's reaction as if he had known he was dirty, not hurt.

The smaller male whimpered and recoiled, head bent down in shame. "I-i-i-i... I'm fine! I.. I just... it was just an accident, I'm fine... I have to go!" He turned quickly and started to move away, holding his already ruined paw above the ground, making it seem like he had a limp. Which probably wouldn't put the lion's mind at ease...

Corsa'lion immediately began to follow Zuri, walking next to him on what seemed to be his injured side, just in case he were to need someone to lean on. His ears were flat against his head, and his brow contorted with worry. It was a good thing he'd come across Zuri, then! And he couldn't just let him leave now, injured. For all Corsa knew, Zuri could die of starvation because he couldn't hunt with a bad paw.

His mouth was pursed and clearly unhappy with Zuri's reaction. "Well if you're hurt, you've got to let me help!" His words were not a plea, a question, nor a bargain. It was a definitive statement. Because Corsa'lion was just the type of lion to go out on a limb for a new friend.

Zurin's fur bristled a little when Corsa started to follow. Why was he insisting on teasing him? He didn't MEAN to get dirty! He walked a bit quicker, and when the lion insisted on following her turned, his temper flaring. He did not get angry easily, but his nerves were wound tighter from being dirty.

"Just leave me alone! I'm..." He paused then, blinking slowly. Hurt? He thought he was hurt? "I-I-i...." He looked horrorfied for a moment.

A whimper rumbled from his throat as his head hung. "I'm s-sorry, I.. I thought... Oh, my... I'm sorry..." He raised his paw then, embarassedly. "It's fine... See? Just... dirty..."

Corsa'lion's face was blank as he looked onto the offending paw. To him, it was blue, fine, and pretty, to say the least. His mouth fell open a little as he tried to find the words, but all that he could manage was one, simple "....Oh." He tilted his head, wondering why on earth Zuri could care about some dirt that he didn't even see. But if it really mattered that much.

Corsa'lion found his smile, and bobbed his head, "Well, then lets help you clean up. I think I know of a small stream nearby. The moving water helps keep it clear." Perhaps, even, they could find a small meal to share while they washed up.

The small leopard blinked up at him for a moment, also in speechless shock. He didn't care? But... surely it was offending...? He frowned up at him for a moment, then smiled shyly. This lion must be extraordinarily kind.

"Oh..." His voice soft and pleasant now, he put down his paw and stood, smiling. "Sure! That does sound lovely... Do lead the way then?" His tail twitched behind him, but always held a little up, so it wouldn't drag the ground.

The pink and boxy chest of Corsa'lion rumbled with a deep laughter, not really at his new friend, but with him [even though he wasn't really laughing]. He wagged his tail in a doggish manner as he took the lead towards the said stream, eager and happy to help Zurin however silly he thought his obsessive cleanliness may be.

His heavy paws lead the 'dirty' Zurin's and he was content in what felt like a perfect day.

THE END.
