Zaafarani wandered alone, as per usual. She had gotten so used to it over the years, she was barely aware of anything else. A hermit, despite her species and their tendancies to want to group together. She had always stayed away from packs. Too much... going on. But that wasn't to say she wasn't lonely.

But, lonliness was a background noise, or so it had become to her in recent years. It wasn't exactly by her own choice. She wouldn't have minded being around other creatures, but sometimes they could be so very... hostile. And her puphood had been spent amongst hostility. She had no desire to have to deal with more of it.

Her generally apathetic nature often prevented her from having close ties. She didn't lie, she didn't express emotion, and she didn't like to do... well, anything. The effort and exertion seemed so useless... but she didn't want it to be that way. She never wanted to be the way she had turned out, but she dealt with it, none-the-less. Her day was only looking like it would be... just like any other day.

Abishalom had travelled the earth for so long that now it seemed hard to remember just how long ago it was he had left home, like his many brother and sisters to discover what there was to see. He had stepped lightly in the warm desert sands, picked his way through the dense, humid jungles, and stood at the edge of the big waters, gazing across and wondering at what was beyond. He had learned the ways of the butterflies that decorated the air, the ants that crawls, and the birds that chattered and yet, still he wandered.

He was a peaceful young dog, named son of peace after his mother Bem, whose name meant peace itself, and forever wore a soft smile like the one he was wearing now as he approached another wild dog. His long paisly blue tail caressed the air in a happy wave as he drew himself from his deep thoughts to greet her.

" Good afternoon, fine Lady." he called to her, his voice a soothing tenor.

Zaafarani blinked as she was unexpectedly spoken too. She obviously hadn't been paying enough attention... foolish of her to let her mind drift, she would admit that much, but the other wild dog seemed to mean no harm. He was younger than she was... interesting. She had met a few of her age that caught her interest, and those younger had brought their own personalities forward.

"Oh..." She said, her voice monotone despite her suprise. The voice of someone who had seen too much, and couldn't bring herself to be suprised anymore.

"Hello." She replied, knowing it was best to be polite... though no one had ever called her a 'fine lady' before. An interesting title for an ex-soldier, "A fine afternoon it is, good sir." She had seen better and worse afternoons... but she couldn't have said this one was bad.

Abishalom fell into step beside the lady dog, with the comfortable stride of a young man completely at ease. Long cornflower blue ears turned to her as she spoke, drinking in her monotone words, with that open smile laying where it was always to be found. By the judgement of his matching blue eyes she was just slightly older than himself, but the haggard aura she carried about herself spoke of something more and he leaned ever so slightly in, allowing his shoulder to brush hers softly for a brief moment before righting himself.

Abish let his gaze comb the horizons, peace within him finding everything just as it should be and he sighed contentedly.

" My name is Abishalom, but you can call me Abish. May I ask your name, my lady, and just where we happen to be headed?"

Zaafarani watched the male as he came in closer to do. He was at ease, that was good, it meant he wasn't looking for a fight, which was a tone that she generally prefurred. She had been in enough wars for her life time. He was young though. Naive in a sense, perhaps? He approached her without a care in the world it seemed. Low guard. Very lucky she didn't want a fight.

"Abish... a pleasure." She replied, her tone not changing in the slightest as she merely nodded, "My name is Zaafarani. Ani, if you like... everyone seems to call me that." Or at least, most of the creatures she had met seemed to have a preference for the nickname.

She glanced around, "Headed? No where... yourself?" Ani had no direction in mind, except to go somewhere that wasn't the direction that she had come from. She didn't have a home or a family to get back to. She just lived one day to the next, without a care in the world. Literally, in her case. Nothing really mattered to Ani.
