Despite the fact she'd gotten better soon enough, she was still in no shape to hunt on her own. That meant that she'd taken residence in the Den the family had been using even when the rest went out to find food. She was fine with it, really, except for the fact that she felt horribly useless. Granted, she was hardly ever alone, for Nyota had decided she was his responsability (huh, imagine that!) and had taken it upon himself to guard her with what she liked to think was his very life.

Oh, but still, the feeling of uselessness persisted, for not only could she barely do anything on her own, but she needed constant vigil (as far as Nyota was concerned - something Mbawa wasn't even sure he was aware he was doing). Thus so, when thirst hit her hard that night, the female lifted her head in the darkness of the den and paused; she'd been in the process of stretching her paw out to wake the male that had somehow endded up curled up around her. After just a moment of concidering her options, she leaned in to give him a soft lick and then stood up with care. She took her time limp padding out of the den carefuly, so as not to wake anyone up and headed towards the nearby watering hole; she knew it was just a couple of minute's walk from the den. Then again... that would've been if she'd not been limping.

As it was, it was likely going to take her more than just a couple of minutes to go to and from.

Meanwhile, Nyota was having a nightmare. In all honesty, he was not used to having nightmares. He'd not had a nightmare since he was very, very young, and those had always involved him being unable to find peace and quiet... having his sibbling run after him causing chaos and raquet. He was sure as hell he'd NEVER had a nightmare quite like this one. Nothing like it what so ever.

In it, he was running away from something, he wasn't even sure what it was, and jsut when he'd thought himself to be safe and sound, Mbawa had popped out of nowhere, placing herself between him and whatever unknown danger had been behind him. It honestly didn't matter WHAT danger had been behind him... it was danger, and that's all that had mattered. Even as he'd skidded to a hault, he had been unable to do anything other than watch the female he'd some to care for even if only in a slight way (he'd had to admit that much to himself - he'd found no other reason as to WHY he'd worried about her in the first place) be torn away from him.

The danger, whatever it'd been had torn her to shreds, as if she were a leaf and he'd been forced to watch her dissolve and become nothing more than dust on the ground. The shadow that had torn her apart had laughed at him with glowing red eyes, and even as strange as it was, he'd woken up with a jolt. It'd been a childish nightmare, and yet so horribly vivid that when he'd turned to make sure she was okay (because that's what he'd needed), he found her gone. Needless to say, the male instantly felt himself panic.

The treck over to the watering hole had been more exhausting than she could remember it to ever have been, but she'd somehow managed to reach it. Once her thrist had been sated, the female let out a sigh and turned around, unhappy over the prospect of having to return to the den. Ohhh... if someone could have carried her over and back! What wouldn't she had given!

However, over time, she'd grown a tad less selfish and had slowly noticed that the world did not, in fact, revolve around her. Not only that, but that Nyota neede his rest and his time away from her. The fact she had decided she liked him made the decision so much easier to take; liking someone meant to had to take care of them. It meant that their well being was something you kept in mind. Happy in her thoughts, the female limped her way back home without much grace.

She was not there. Mbawa was not bloody THERE and he had no idea where hell she could have gone to. Jumping to his feet, the dog looked around the den, almost as if half expecting the white female to have accidently rolled away from him in her sleep... wishing she would simply be cuddled up to someone else rather than gone. To no avail however, for the more his eyes scanned the darkness, the more he was convinced she was not there. It was pitch dark outside; the sunrise was hours away! There was no way she could have slipped outside to wait for it.

Frantic to follow even that small idea, he jumped over the body of one of his sibbling and dived into the night air. Only to find... nothing. No one. She was not there. She was not sitting or laying down in the usual spots where she placed herself when she waited for the sunrise. Frantic, still scared from the nightmare, which he was starting to believe was perhaps some sort of premonition, Nyota paced up and down a few meters in front of the den entrance.

Where the bloody ehll WAS she? He was failing to notice that by being so worked up, he was only making it more noticeable to his fogged mind that he did, indeed, care.

Sadly, Mbawa was entirely unaware of what poor Nyota was going through and thus could only focuss on getting back to the den. Albeit slowly, for her limping was making it horribly hard for her. It wasn't till she reached the den proximity that she noticed Nyota's pacing figure by the entrance, his violet contrasting against the darkness around him, "Did I wake you up again?" she asked innocently, her ears flopping back against her head as she managed to make her way to him.

The moment her voice rung in the air, Nyota's head, which had been held low as he worried and paniced, snapped right back up in the air. Before he knew what he was doing, he rushed towards her and in a flurry of movements, began to check the girl for injuries, as if needing to make sure... to reasure himself that she was not hurt and would not be torn apart into pieces. When he was convinced that she was perfectly fine, he lifted his head and tossed it back, releasing a sigh he hardly knew he'd been holding, "Oh, thank god," he whispered to no one in particular before dropping his head forward.

Needless to say, poor Mbawa was confused. She had no idea what in the world could have altered him so much so as to make him fret in such a way. Her eyes scanned him and her head tilted in question, "What...?" she left it at that though, for watching him toss his head back and then forth seemed to shed some sort of light on the situation.

He'd been worried. He'd been so worried he'd paniced. For a moment, she was at a loss for words, but then she smiled. Surely this meant he liked her too. Even if he didn't want to admit to it just YET. But she was patient. She could wait. With a smile upon her mug, she nuzzed the side of his neck, "M'sleepy," she told him, waiting for him to take the bait and scaperoute out of the akward situation. Because... she could wait.

And take it he did. No sooner did she mention being sleepy that the male stiffened, "Right!" he said and then escorted her back towards the den, taking care to keep her weight leaned against him.
