Oh, wow, it hurt.

It hurt a lot. Mwaba whined patheticaly as she limped back 'home'. Or rather, towards the place she was had come to call home since she'd left her own family. Her white pelt as dirtied with mud and stuff that looked... suspiciously like leaves and branches. She kept her right fore paw in the air as she tried to walk. With little avail. Ooooh, whom had ever told her to go fetch that flower? Granted! It'd been extremely pretty and she'd been trying to get it to give to Nyota.

Her mind now argued it'd been a very stupid idea, seeing as how Nyota was a boy, and boys did not really like flowers as much as she did, to her knowledge. Still, the desire to please him and crack a smile from his mug had been the dirving force, and now... though she did have the flower (which she was carrying in her jaws with care), she was hurt and dirty and huuuuuuuurt and oh it hurttttttt and she'd never been hurt like this and waaaaaah.

Despite the fact her inner monologue had a lot of 'bawwwwwwing' in it, the female was actualy doing a good job at not crying. She merely looked pathetic and ashamed as she drew nearer to the den. The fact she'd wasted the mayority day in her attempt to limp back was not helping her what so ever.

Waaaaaahhhhh.....

Despite his every will not to, Nyota had spent most of the day worrying over where in the world she had gone. Part of him wanted to simply be glad that she had finally taken his hinting and just left him alone, but other parts of him told him that she would never leave and thus, the reason for her being missing was not something as simple as that. No, after he realized this, his mind had begun to come up with the worst possible scenarios but being that he had no idea where she had gone he didn't want to leave the cave in case she came back.

Thus, he was sitting in the den entrance with his head on his paws, eyes watching the area around for any indication of her. What he saw in the distance was a muddy figure, messy, but with the tell-tale brightness of rather unique markings on her back and something.. bright bobbing in front of its face. With a groan, he realized immediately that this was none other than Mbawa.

He pushed himself to his feet, stalking out to meet her rather.. slow pace. "Mbawa, what have you--" he began, a chastizing tone to his voice, until he realized she was limping. "Sit down," he said promptly, planting himself in front of her. She would hurt herself, wouldn't she?

"I wanted to get a flower... and then... then I SLIPPED from this log, and I FELL into ... .this bog, pit, thingey with mud and algea and it had a crocodile so I had to swim! But it was SO muddy and I couldn't do it well and he almost biiiiiit me," she whined, the whole story rushed together as she waved her good paw in an attempt to explain her horrible adventure, "And I fell on the ground when I tried to escape and twisted my foot! And it hurts! But the crocodile didn't bite me, so i guess that's good, and look, see I also got the flower!" she dropped it at her feet then let out a sigh, her ears flopping comically over her head in a tired manner.

"It hurts to sit. I think I scraped my .... tail, and ... uhm it hurts," she whine whimpered under her breath, her eyes never meeting his, as if ashamed to admit that it hurt; not to what she had done... but to the fact it hurt. It was only then that she turned her eyes upward to look at him, though she kept her head down, which added to the pathetic waves she was practicaly givig off.

If his fur hadn't been so dark with the natural violet hue, he would have paled at just the mention of her falling into water with a crocodile. The rest of the story did nothing to help his demeanor and by the time she had finished her rushed little tale, of which he was sure she had probably left out parts due ot her addle-brained-ness, he was sure he would start shaking any second. "Mbawa, you have to be more careful!" he exclaimed, trying for all he was worth not to yell at her and scare her. When she dropped the flower at her feet, he glanced down at it, and common sense told him that.. it was probably for him. What a stupid, stupid girl - hurting herself to get him a flow.

He sighed, nodding as she admitted that sitting down hurt, but she had to get off of that paw. "Then lean on me, and we'll head to the den so you can lay down, okay? I think you've hurt your paw really badly." He leaned down and picked up the flower in his own maw, looking up at her again and mumbling 'okay?' as best as he could around it before moving to her side.

"But..." she looked torn with agreeing that he was right, that she had to be more careful, and continuing to excuse herself. She picked the later, "It was a reaaally pretty violet flower, with lil pink highlights and it reminded me of you and me! So I wanted to pick it and give it to you!" she looked down at the flower at her feet and frowned when she noticed it was torn, tattered and had mud all over it. Looking back up, she offered him her most pathetic expression, "Well, it WAS violet and pink.... before...."

The female bit her lips and decided not to tell him that actualy, laying down hurt too. EVERYTHING hurt. After all, he seemed to be worried (something she was particularly pleased over), and did not want to shoot him down, "M'okay," she mumbled as she turned to lean her side against him; as soon as she was against him she nuzzled him, as if he were some sort of safety blanket or a teddy bear she'd missed during the whole ordeal.

He simply nodded at her as he listened to the rather silly reason she had for risking her life for a flower, finding that it didn't really surprise him one little bit. He'd have to teach her to be more careful, even if it did involve 'pretty flowers'. As it was, he was caring said pretty flower, even if it was a bit rumpled and torn, and thus really couldn't answer her. He just nodded his head at her and motioned towards teh den.

As soon as she leaned against him and was done with her nuzzling, he started to walk, letting her walk and lean against him at the same time. He went slow, letting her use as little of her paw as possible, and as they passed the den entrance he put the flower down before nodding his head. "Well, now it's tattered and bruised just like you are, so it still fits, yeah?" He seemed half trying to comfort her and half angry as he spoke.

Finally, he motioned to the floor. "Come on, we need to lay you down."

She followed him lamely, limping even with his help, which was all in all... quite pathetic. And she needed a bath. She needed a bath really, really bad, because as it was, one could have thought thatn rather than a pure white wild dog, she was a brown spotted one. A sigh escaped Mbawa as she shook her head, for she knew well enough that she'd done something stupid and that now not only was she paying for it, but he was worried, to boot.

While the later was oddly sattifying, she'd have rather find out he actualy 'cared' in some other way. Her pink colored eyes rolled up to him in that pathetci 'beaten up puppy' way she had, "I'm sorry," she mumbled at his words, "And I'm not... tattered. Just need a bath.... but I can't go to the watering hole and it hurts...." She lifted her head and the tears that soarkled there were childish, naive, "I'm sorry I made you worry."

Because, oh, worry he had. She could see it in his eyes even as she lay down, "What am I ever going to do..." it was a rethorical question, however, she still looked at him for an answer, for some reason.

He sighed softly as she looked up at him with those tear-dancing eyes, knowing that he couldn't have been mad at her for all the world if she looked at him while crying like that. Darn females and that stupid ability. "I wouldn't worry so much if you didn't run off and do silly things like that," he muttered, but there was no heart in the chastising, no will to be irritated with her. It was just a response, the need to answer what she had said.

"You need to rest is what you need," he said finally, as she looked up at him with such an expectant stare. "You need to rest, so that you can start healing a little bit, and then after you rest I'll help you get to the watering hole, okay?" Oh, this was only going to tie her more strongly to him but what was he supposed to do? He never would have left an injured female he didn't know alone, and he certainly wasn't going to leave her. He still refused to admit that his worry had deeper roots than him just not wanting to deal with consequences (with THESE consequences). But for now, he was putting that all out of his head and just concentrating on the fact that she needed a little care.

"But... but... it was a flower," she told him patheticaly, "That looked juuuuuust like a mix of both of us! I just HAD to get it! I... didn't know the stupid log would break and that there was a stupid crocodile bellow... and it was stupid and the log was also stupid and..." she continued her grumping, making her look almost comicaly endearing as she crossed her paws in front of her so that she could lay her head down upon them

She felt horribly dumb at that instant and knew she had no excuse for her childish behavoir. Her tail wagged slightly as he murmured to her, but it was dim compared to the enthusiastic wagging she usualy graced him with, "Kay..." she said, and then looked up once more, with a light smile, "Will you wash me then?" she obviously meant if he'd help her wash at the watering hole.

The mere ide made her wag her tail even more, her head turning to nuzzle his chest as she closed her eyes, "I really like you..."

He sighed and shook his head as she ranted on, though he couldn't stop the slight sad smile that spread across his mug. Even when she was hurt and sad the only thing she could think about was the fact that she wanted to get the flower because it looked just like them. He had to admit, she was a always an optimist. Always.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll help you wash," he muttered as she snuggled up against him, and he probably would have leaned his head back against hers if he hadn't been so conscious that she was hurt all over. That was probably the only thing that kept him from doing so and realizing that he enjoyed it. "Yeah, I know Mbawa," he said softly, a gentle sigh escaping his maw, "I know."
