Somehow, for better or worse, Mbawa had managed to stick herself to Nyota. The white pelted female liked to think it was for the better, but something told her Nyota thought otherwise. She liked to live in denial, but she was not stupid; she could see his frowning, and thought she was sure it'd smoothed out over the past few days (... was this her wishful thinking? She wasn't even sure - the change, if there'd been any,, had been so gradual she couldn't e sure), she could not have said it to be true. Still, regardless, she kept herself glued to him for the most part, and to some extent, she thought he'd grown used to it.
As much as such a frustrated boy could ever grow used to anyhow. His family didn't seem to have any problem with her joining them; in fact, they'd more or less welcome her chiper nature and had looked surprised at her choice. Why would such a cheerful soul attatch herself to such a sullen one?
Mbawa couldn't have been sure WHY she'd chosen to attatch herself to Nyota. What's she'd told him that first day had been true; she'd taken an instant liking to him. Then again... she was prone to taking an instant liking to a lot of things, so no one could have said if the liking she'd taken to Nyota was special or not. Today, she was not by his side, surprisingly enough; at least not yet. She'd left the den the family had used to sleep in to sneak out to watch the sunrise. She liked the sunrise just as much as she liked the sunsets and she knew he'd not had much sleep the previous night. Waking him up due to her selfishness would have not been fair! Now that the sunrise had come and gone, the female stretched out over the grass, her tail waggling behind her.
At first, he had attempted a lot to try and get rid of her. He had gone on needless walks that were tiring, exhausting, at all hours of the day and night. He had just flat out ignored her for hours. However, nothing seemed to deter her from her choice to remain his constant shadow. Eventually, he just got used to the fact that he seemed to have grown another appendage and let it roll. It didn't mean he liked it, he had just gotten used to it. Like one gets used to breathing, or used to blinking.
His family had been no help in their acceptance of her, finding nothing wrong with his more-or-less stalker. They probably thought she'd be a good change for him, maybe make his sullen attitude take a swing into the more cheerful direction. Who knew, but he had been expecting some type of support on his side at least. Oh well, such is life.
What was worse was that he was falling into a routine with her and whenever it was altered, he noticed. It was a little irritating that his life could change so quickly. Thus, when he had finally noticed that her heat was missing from his side (because she was determined to sleep curled up right against him) he had roused himself from his deep slumber. With a loud yawn and cracking jaws, he pushed himself up and out of the den, stretching as he went, to find his missing counterpiece. He hadn't slept well, but he knew he wouldn't sleep at all until she was back in the stupid den.
"Watching the sunrise?" he asked moodily as he flopped down beside her in the dark of pre-morning, eyes still squinting in the brightening light.
His voice did not surprise her, for some odd reason, even when it was obvious she'd been pulled out of some sort of daydream. It was like she practicaly come to expect his voice to call after her at any given moment, "Nope!" she told him as she watched the way he flopped down by her side, "Not yet! I'm waiting for it!" she lost no time in leaning over to nuzzle his side like a contented cat might have. However, then again, it'd become obvious that she was prone to doing just that to anyone that gave her so much as half the chance to; his brothers, his sisters, his mother and even a tree if no one else was around.
"You are moody," she stated bluntly as she continued to rub her head on him, and despite her words, they were said in a happy chirp. It really did seem that not a rain cloud could bring her down, "Did you miss me?"

Well, that's what I meant," he muttered, frowning lightly at the way she answered him. He simply huffed lightly at her nuzzle and laid his head down upon his paws, by now used to the fact that physical contact was far too unavoidable. She was the single most cuddly and affectionate soul he had ever met, and that was saying something, because not even his mother had been this affectionate towards him when he had been a pup - and what mother doesn't love to shower affection down upon their pups, especially her very first litter?
"You woke me up when you left," he said with a shrug, even if that wasn't entirely true. He had no idea how long it had been since she had actually left the den, so her immediate leave-taking hadn't been what had woken him. No, it was the fact that his body had registered the lack of warmth at his side finally that had awoken him.
Happy that she wasn't being pushed away, she leaned back against him comfortably and turned her gaze towards the sky, where the first pinks and violets were just barely visible in the horizon, "Lookit!" she said as she pointed at the sky, "It's me and you! Because it's pink AND violet!" she seemed horribly happy about such a childish notion, but no doubt she'd said similar thing before. It was simply in her character to see the world through pink colored glasses.
Her head turned towards him as he spoke though, pulling away from where she'd snuggled it against his neck so she could watch him, "Ehhhh?" she sounded innocent, as if surprised, but there was a twinkle of something akin to mirth within her pink colored eyes, "Really?" despite the fact she didn't show it, she was pleased by this, "I'm sorry. You didn't get any sleep last night. So I figured I'd come see it by myself," these last phrases though, were obviously sincere, honest. The girl probably didn't even know how to lie, "I'm glad you can see it though! Cause the sky always looks like me and you at this time! That's why I like it so much."
"Eh?" he asked as she pointed out that the sun looked like the two of them, turning his eyes up to look at where the streaks of color were beginning to show. He scrunched his nose up as he narrowed his eyes to stare, shrugging a bit. He didn't want to be mean and point out that she was really more white than pink, so instead he just nodded and lay his head back down - he was fine letting her be happy with whatever she wanted to think.
"Well, apparently I can't sleep no matter what, so does it really matter?" It was a little bitter, but not really directed at her. It was directed at everything and, most importantly, at himself. It irritated him that his own body and mind were betraying him now by not letting him bloody sleep when he wanted to.
"What?" he asked with a sudden frown, looking over at her. It wasn't really something he expected an answer to, because he had actually heard it. The words made his ears droop and a wave of guilt washed over him. In an instant, he felt bad for always thinking to rotten of her, or always being such a brat. That was such a simple and sweet thing to say. "Yeah, it's real pretty, Mbawa," he echoed, though his ears hadn't re-perked and his eyes still looked a little far away.

Had he told her his thought, she'd have likely been able to argue her point to the very ground, but then again, it was in her nature to do so. She saw the whole world tingued pink no matter what, and though she'd not really been forced to face tragedy before, it was imposible to tell how she'd react to it.
Her head had turned towards him again, her eyes blinking in a small motion, "Well of course it matters," she seemed surprised that he'd think it didn't matter, "You should sleep, It's good for you. I thought you slept better alone?" since she'd been indulging in cuddling up to him the whole previous day and part of the night, she thought it'd be fair to let him have the space he so seemed to love. Her tail wagged again, "Mmmm?" she seemed pleased that he'd liked her analgy, "I know. There's a lot of pretty things. Just gotta look for them," it sort of worked the other way too; there were a lot of bad things too.... he just looked for them, where as she chose not to, "Come on," she stood then and stretched out her front legs on the ground, ridding herself of the sleep kinks, "Let's go find a den. You need sleep. And the others will wake soon," somehow, despite the fact he'd not said so, she knew he'd woken up because he'd missed her. Comfort and warmth was something one could easily get used to... even if it was still hard for him to admit.
"So did I," he said with a sigh, wondering to himself why it was that he was suddenly sleeping better with a warm form curled up against him instead of the empty coolness he had always coveted. As a pup, he had never liked feeling so pressed in by all the warm, fuzzy bodies of his siblings. It has always been so damn suffocating. Yet, here he was, wide awake because she had gotten up and left him alone and his brain wouldn't have any of it.
"Hmm?" he questiond lazily, his eyelids already a bit lidded as he forced them back open to look at her. He was tired, and with her body leaning on his, even out here in the middle of the savannah with the sun rising, he was beginning to fall back asleep. That should have been more than enough clue that she was what he needed to fall into a peaceful slumber. "A den, that sounds.. good," he muttered as he pushed himself up, a yawn cracking his jaws. In truth, he could have fallen asleep right there, but a den did seem a little more appealing. He just nudged her a little, waiting for her to lead the way. He was too tired to find it by himself.
