I already know all about that stuff (The Mithras cult, the pagan winter festivals and equinox etc. etc.) Which is why my family and I don't celebrate Christmas in that sense anymore ^_^
But we believe in acknowledging and celebrating the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus every day in our hearts and prayers, not just once a month =)

Actually the "pegan" (sic) rituals surrounding Christmas and Easter can be shown to be cultural festivities rather than specifically religious ones - and not forbidden for Christians.
For example - just because someone once used a decorated tree as an idol does not mean that anyone who has a decorated tree today is worshipping an idol. As well say that because someone once used the Bible as a magical resource (which they did) that therefore no one must use the Bible every again lest they become magicians.
It is nonsensical.

Merry Christmas I have an issue with that. There's a Christian half and pegan half of Christmas and Easter, I don't celebrate the pegan half. I believe that if you're preaching Christ's death and resurrection how can you then bring bunnies and eggs into it?
So I don't. I just celebrate what we have the opportunity to celebrate about Jesus

[quote ="Etaoin Shurdlu"]just because someone once used a decorated tree as an idol does not mean that anyone who has a decorated tree today is worshipping an idol. The Bible says not to be a stumbling block to your fellow brothers. If I don't know about God and Jesus and all that and I hear the saying "Keep Christ in Christmas," then I see you and I say "He's Christian, I'll go to his church and see what Christmas is really supposed to be about". I go there, and there's a Christmas tree in your church. Then I'm confused what the difference is between you and me, since that's what I have.
The "church" isn't a building, it's a body of people. So the building of a church could be your home, and the same can be said about a decorated tree in your home.
Now when the Bible says not to be a stumbling block, Paul means only towards your Christian brothers. Because to non-Christians, everything we do is a stumbling block to them. But when you're causing someone who wants to find out about Christianity to stumble, then you're still sinning.
So it's wrong to take part in Pegan rituals during Pegan holidays, even if you're Christian and say you're not taking part.
Actions speak louder than words.

Where the hell are you getting the from? 2. Christmas is a commercial holiday. 3. It's a freaking tree, it won't kill you. 4. As Etaoin has said andi f you read the rest of his post, it's a cultural thing. It doesn't make you a bad Christian for having one nor does it not make you a Christian for having one.
